Nice the 3003 year old guitar is BACK!
I was going to follow along at home but had to give up the idea when I couldn't find any 3000 year old wood. So I'll just be content to watch your excellent videos detailing the process. Thanks.
Thanks for the consistency on this videos again, favourites!
Good stuff! I have bound my first two guitars, but I still learned some stuff. Thanks for sharing your method!
Binge watched the whole 29 vids this weekend love winter stay in bed guitar build UA-cam binge watching videos 😂
Loving this build hopefully be building my first acoustic beginning next year which will make a nice change from building solid body guitars / basses . I’ve build a few ukuleles and a flat top mandolin but never an acoustic excited and learned tons from you guys on your channel
Thankyou and very much appreciated 👊🏻👊🏻
I just started my first acoustic build, and this series has been incredibly helpful! Thank you!
How did it go?
@@karelenhenkie666 I'm nearing the end stages, getting ready to close the box this week. Then I'll have a LOT of footage to edit!
I have really enjoyed the content you have produced. The 3000 Year Old Guitar series has been instrumental, pun intended, in building my first acoustic guitar. In fact yesterday I reached a major milestone in my build in that I closed the box on my first acoustic guitar. Thank you for all the tips and knowledge that you have provided in your videos. Looking forward to new content. Cheers!
Some tasty electrics hanging up there too!
great stuff :) i must say. that series you are doing highly interesting!! im so curious how this is going to sound in the end..
One thing you can do, is have one template, for the full neck width, rather than the neck minus binding, I bought a Martin one, with that you can double side tape your fretboard to it and use ball bearing rabbeting bit, like you would for binding the guitar. Do it on the router table. It works well so long as you are comfortable with climb cuts in spots to avoid tear out.
After hand planing a binding, a cranked pairing chisel could be use for the last touch, getting it perfectly level.
Love the Stu Mac tape dispenser. Much cheaper than Office Depot or Staples and you get three instead of just 1.
a rabbet is a from an Americanized boat building term. From an Old French word spelled Rabbat it means a recess, normally referring to setting a door back in a wall in medieval Europe. Also used in boat building for how they set joints in wooden boats. Also known as a rebate from the same french root. Has nothing to do with rabbits.
I love this channel! I get a lot of inspiration here for my own videos :-0
3000 years to build a guitar? Great stuff in any case.
When are we going to see and hear the finished guitar - I've invested a lot of time in these excellent videos - go on you know you want to!
I thought for sure when I started watching this series it would be finished by the time I got to the end! 😂😂😂 Oh well! Great work guys.
I think it’s always a good idea to take it to the bandsaw first, and cut off as much of the wood as you can, as close to the template as possible… that eliminates the possibility of tear out(most of the time anyway)especially when using a compression bit.
Awesome, see you in 6 months /s
Hi Matt, when will you be working on \ finishing the 3,000 year old guitar? I am interested in building a guitar made from the ancient Sitka but want to hear the tone of the guitar you are working on. Thanks, Michael
Come on guys! Next video please!
Hey Chris! What glue do you suggest to use when bonding PVC binding to an ebony fret board??? I tried Titebond 3 ( I knew better but did it anyway 🤦♂️) and it just de-laminated. I’m doing a Les Paul fret board and that’s why I’m going with the vinyl binding. I know that StewMac sells a glue specifically made for this but I really don’t want to pay the “special Price” ($30.00). I’ve heard of people melting the binding to the wood with acetone but does that really work? Thank you Chris and Matt for all of your awesome content!!!
What spiral flush trim bit are you using?? I’m
Shocked at how much material you can take off. Thanks for sharing a link or something!
I never knew fretboards were this thick
Nice how do I get update for when you post a new episode
Do make your fret boards more than 1/4" thick so by the time you put a radius on the fret board and sand down the edges to your radius, the edges will be at 1/4" final dimension ?
thank you Chris and Matt. what is the difference between the stew-mac glue and tight bond wood glue ?
I believe it's LMI Instrument Glue he uses, not Stew Mac. Two advantages over Tite Bond -- 1) It's got something in it that shows up under a black light. So when you're inspecting to make sure nothing is going to mess up your finish, it's easy to see spots where some glue is left over. 2) It can be un-done pretty easily with heat -- by (carefully) hitting it with a heat gun, you can correct mistakes.
@@larrycoon3794 thank you
Did this episode come out before number 28?
How did you make the acrylic template?
Have you ever maybe bought back one of the guitars you sold and cut in half to micro analyze the workmanship?
How many thickness for top, back, side, neck, frettboard....????
Thank's
I feel like I time traveled a little bit on this one... Great tips on attaching the binding!
where can i see how it sounds the 3000 old guitar??
Whatever happened to your Deluxe Reverb build?
In Australia we call it a re-bate, instead of a rabbit
since youre from the future.... is the next episode of this out yet?
C'mooooooooooon???? The suspense is agony...
So, wait.
It's a 3,002 year old guitar?
Cutting it proud I guess is better than be ashamed 🙂
Anything after episode 29 from NOv 22?
Possible noob question: Does Chris not radius the fretboard?
Haha, sorry I found my answer in the last :20 seconds!
I don't mind the background music at 07:06, but it really should be at a much lower volume level - it made me have to turn the volume of the video down
Looks like when you finish this guitar it's going to be a 4000 year old guitar.
😆 😆 😂
All words are made up. 😎
so uh... we still working on this bad boy?
when it comes down to it, it seems like it IS rocket surgery
It's going to be 4000 by the time it's done
Wait,wait,wait.
When you took that first bit of blue masking tape off the roll it was exactly the same length as the fretboard blank.
HOW? Are you Spider-man?
A rabbit has a tail a rebate doesn't
GREAT WORK GUYS SORRY ABOUT THE BS GET IT DONE
Heard you damaged guitar beyond repair and are done with series
Incorrect. It’s on my workbench right now and we’ll pick back up on it this month!
Great work guys as always top notch videos and very thankful BUT. I don't get the generic DIY music you put on the videos. It deminishes the content quality and makes it like all other generic crap. I can't believe I commented on this but everything else is just perfect. Thanx again. Love!
Why come you don't answer anyone's questions....?
Because we’re running a business, and can’t always prioritize answering questions on our UA-cam channel.
@@DriftwoodGuitars Does that mindset change if viewers JOIN ... in effect, paying for answers?
If you can have this 300 year guitar done by Christmas day please and need you to play it at least 5 to 9 songs try not to break it
It feels like it's taking 3000 years to build this thing, lol
