I love how this is a fight and not just a curbstomp. Garuda was making changes in how she fights to try and win. Switching from long range to acrobatics, using bird legs, and talons to get an advantage. This was really fun to watch.

My first introduction to Ifrit was from Final Fantasy 10 and I’ve loved him ever since. Somehow they managed to make an early game summon even more badass than he already was

I really appreciate the simple brutality of a flaming creature just holding its opponent. Burning is a horrible way to go, so Ifrit just holding Garuda down while heating up is the most brutal part of the fight, and that's saying something considering Ifrit pulled her leg off earlier.
Couldn’t agree more. Ifrit is really a major threat and should be taken seriously this time around. If Square kept this up for Ifrit in future games, he could be the most memorable Summon yet.
I do believe as the games went on they gave more character and evolution with ifrit becoming more attuned to his beast fire demon roots and loosing more human like features to become more powerful even his horns grew more pronounced and shows his strength and power

Had this fight yesterday and it blew me away. The whole thing gave away major Godzilla and Aot (the regenerating limbs) vibes. Played a lot of ff games (7,8,9,10,12,15, remake) but this one is really different but in a good way.
I can't believe they did a small nod to the FFXIV theme of Garuda in the beginning. Really shows how much Naoki Yoshida and Soken value the time they've spent and continue to spend on FFXIV.

I like how this fight becomes more like a desperate battle for survival the second Garuda realises Ifrit is going for the killing blow with *every single attack.* She actually varies her attacks, tries to weaken it, and then attempts a killing blow. Ifrit straight-up tanks and dodges EVERYTHING she throws at it and every single one of its attacks is aimed at killing her.
Just did this tonight and it was AMAZING! Had to come back and watch. Avid FFXIV player here, also played VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIII, and now this one. Epic, epic, epic!

This was the first true eikon battle in this game, and the first boss score that made you realize this soundtrack will be one of the greatest game OSTs ever made. Soken far and away deserved his award

Most of the Eikon fights are pretty memorable but this is arguably my favorite. I think the sheer brutality of the combat between Garuda and Ifrit just really highlights the realities of war. The battle with Bahamut is epic but this is so visceral.
I started playing year ago but took couple month long breaks, im on the mission where you have to hunt down a griffin or something, from the notice board (which i just unlocked), and i feel as there isnt nearly enough moves, it isnt comparable to likes of DMC or other character action games, but doesnt change the fact that this is a good game

I just finished this battle like 5 minutes ago. I only got hit once, but I think it could have gone either way.
Ifrit was always one of the more powerful summons, a late stage one typically, so it makes sense.
