I played D&D for the first time, and was playing a Barbarian. The first combat encounter was the rogue attacking some guards giving us a hard time. Because I wasn’t keen on breaking the law, I used my healer’s kit to stabilize all the guards he tried to kill.
I’m currently playing a path of the wild soul barbarian, it’s one of the unearthed arcana subclasses right now, and it’s so much fun. Basically it’s a wild magic barbarian where every time you rage you roll to see what magic effect is. The weakest but my personal favorite is that plants grow within 10 feet of you and the ground becomes difficult terrain. I just really like the concept of getting so angry that the grass starts growing. I’m imagining a wild soul middle aged suburban dad who gets angry and the grass grows and then he gets even angrier realizing he has to mow it again.

I had a concept for a barbarian whose primary emotion during a rage wasnt anger, but sadness. He was the last survivor of his Elven tribe who, when he enraged, wasnt angry but instead overwhelmed by the cumulative pain and sadness he had seen and experienced. Just the image of a hulking man cleaving people in two with tears flowing down his cheeks was neat, and, at least to me, a bit more terrifying.

I'm thinking about creating a Dragonborn Storm Herald Barbarian. Most likely the Bronze Dragonborn while going with the Sea abilities from the class. So I can shoot lighting breath as well as strike enemies with lightning while they are in my aura. Later on getting the ability to breath underwater while having a swim speed and then getting the chance to knock enemies prone as well. I was thinking about using a trident+net combo. I just wish the trident had better damage since it's basically just a more expensive spear also the fact that the net takes up your whole turn is a bummer but I can think of it coming in handy in certain situations. Might see if the DM will be ok with bumping the damage to 1d8(one-handed) and 1d10(two-handed/thrown) and perhaps construct a net out of chain to make it more difficult to just cut yourself free from it. Thoughts?

I like to think that when barbarians are "too angry to lose conciousness" they actually lose conciousness but their primal instincts keep them fighting because they fought so much that their fighting instincts are so drilled into their body and spirit that they don't even need to be awake to fight, after all bersercers use the least amount of thinking in their fighting style out of all the classes

bruh barbs can actually get quite complex with the rage + grapple + shove mechanic, and also when hasted can either opt for 3 reckless attacks or 1 attack and a DODGE action, which makes for a barb with + 2 AC, all attacks having disadvantage and virtually all damage halved (bearbarian), plus my barb constantly casts speak with animals, beast sense and commune with nature, basically fufilling the scout/tracker role, while also using these spells to gain info on enemy location and ARMY MANAGEMENT. in our strahd campaign weve gotten to building an army of allies, for which beast sense is crucial to oversee the army through the eyes of a bird, and commune nature to reveal enemy hidden unit locations. ive taken a 14 wis and 9 int barb and had him learn all large scale battle mechanics in dnd and is now effectivelly our army commander. barbs can be played as versatile as you can use your imagination :D
I played a drunken dwarf barbarian. I interpreted his abilities as drunken rages and idiot strength. I based him on the kids in the hell sketch where the little dude fights Magnus Vermagnusun in an alley, and has impossibly high self confidence (low wisdom score). I made bad decisions.

bruh barbs can actually get quite complex with the rage + grapple + shove mechanic, and also when hasted can either opt for 3 reckless attacks or 1 attack and a DODGE action, which makes for a barb with + 2 AC, all attacks having disadvantage and virtually all damage halved (bearbarian), plus my barb constantly casts speak with animals, beast sense and commune with nature, basically fufilling the scout/tracker role, while also using these spells to gain info on enemy location and ARMY MANAGEMENT. in our strahd campaign weve gotten to building an army of allies, for which beast sense is crucial to oversee the army through the eyes of a bird, and commune nature to reveal enemy hidden unit locations. ive taken a 14 wis and 9 int barb and had him learn all large scale battle mechanics in dnd and is now effectivelly our army commander. barbs can be played as versatile as you can use your imagination :D

I played a drunken dwarf barbarian. I interpreted his abilities as drunken rages and idiot strength. I based him on the kids in the hell sketch where the little dude fights Magnus Vermagnusun in an alley, and has impossibly high self confidence (low wisdom score). I made bad decisions.
