Funny D&D story; A friend played a Barbarian in 3.5e, who liked to sleep with his axe. The DM penalised him saying he rolled over in his sleep, cut himself with the axe and that caused him to enter a rage, wasting it and suffering fatigue because of interrupted sleep and used rage. Quite a few levels later he took levels into the prestige class Frenzied Berserker and slept with his axe again. DM said he cut himself and entered in a rage again, what he forgot was when a frenzied berserker rages, he cant stop attacking things and if there are no enemies to attack, he will attack allies with full force. Next thing you know he wipes out the party while they are sleeping
Hah! That's why I would never take frenzied berserker. Besides, there are way more interesting prestigeclasses for Barbarian in 3.5. Bear warrior lets you turn straight up into a fucking bear.
Canadian Barbarian: Okay, I'm gonna go outside and count to ten. I seem to be rather upset. Sorry aboot that. I'll be back soon. Sorry again. Sorry. *Exits the room.*
Imagine how terrifying an angry barbarian is without showing the anger. Just calmness, a cold hatred. The anger keeps this one alive and he just appears calm amidst the storm.
Late to the party, but I made a guy like that once. He was a massive brute of a man, standing near 7 feet tall. He had 20 strength as a baseline, and the belt to boost it to 24. When raging he had 30 strength, so you can imagine the pure power behind his blows, not to mention the 28 con with raging constitution. He was the biggest, beefiest, rage fueled beast of a man. The thing that messed with people though, he was always silent. He was also a monk, a particular archetype that removed the lawful restriction so he could cross class. He learned discipline, and to control his words. He took an oath of silence, one he never broke. Even in his angriest state, full of rage and tearing people apart limb from limb with his bare hands, not a word was spoken. No growls, no screams, just a face locked in anger and a power none could stop.
*End of video:* _"So basically, Barbarians get to treat every Strength check as if they rolled a 24."_ *Actual barbarians:* _[laughs in Belt of Storm Giant's Strength]_

Wait a minute, in European animated series, when people use their anger to help their attacks, it usually hurts them so much they die of their own wounds. God, we suck.
I played D&D for the first time, and was playing a Barbarian. The first combat encounter was the rogue attacking some guards giving us a hard time. Because I wasn’t keen on breaking the law, I used my healer’s kit to stabilize all the guards he tried to kill.
I’m currently playing a path of the wild soul barbarian, it’s one of the unearthed arcana subclasses right now, and it’s so much fun. Basically it’s a wild magic barbarian where every time you rage you roll to see what magic effect is. The weakest but my personal favorite is that plants grow within 10 feet of you and the ground becomes difficult terrain. I just really like the concept of getting so angry that the grass starts growing. I’m imagining a wild soul middle aged suburban dad who gets angry and the grass grows and then he gets even angrier realizing he has to mow it again.

This video right here is what inspired me to make my character Lillith Pidgeon, High elf Berzerker barbarian with Magical initiate for a familiar. Laterally just for the anime memes.
This, coupled with the weird way my group homebrewed Werewolves so that they entered an “uncontrollablly enraged state” when transformed, made my Lycanthrope Barbarian Zoie the cause of a lot of anxiety and sleepless nights wondering if she would involuntary Rage while transformed, which already made all the characters on edge. She was fun to play because she let out her anger with the world on everyone who she thought “deserved it,” based on her over-the-top Lawful personality and strong moral compass. Her original name was the ever-so-cringey Zi Dire, which soon got changed to Zoie Erikson-Diane. The Erikson part is a reference to how Viking brutes often named their children, according to what I found online at... some point. Anyway, she was a loose cannon and everyone had fun out of character.
I like to think that when barbarians are "too angry to lose conciousness" they actually lose conciousness but their primal instincts keep them fighting because they fought so much that their fighting instincts are so drilled into their body and spirit that they don't even need to be awake to fight, after all bersercers use the least amount of thinking in their fighting style out of all the classes
I'm thinking about creating a Dragonborn Storm Herald Barbarian. Most likely the Bronze Dragonborn while going with the Sea abilities from the class. So I can shoot lighting breath as well as strike enemies with lightning while they are in my aura. Later on getting the ability to breath underwater while having a swim speed and then getting the chance to knock enemies prone as well. I was thinking about using a trident+net combo. I just wish the trident had better damage since it's basically just a more expensive spear also the fact that the net takes up your whole turn is a bummer but I can think of it coming in handy in certain situations. Might see if the DM will be ok with bumping the damage to 1d8(one-handed) and 1d10(two-handed/thrown) and perhaps construct a net out of chain to make it more difficult to just cut yourself free from it. Thoughts?
As DM for most of my friends' sessions, I was given a simple request from the barbarian character for the next session: put a bear in there. Never again.
