    Jay, man I appreciate you bringing up the hidpi issue in every video it's present. It's actually a major issue in linux that not a lot of people on youtube talk about. We all know hidpi IS going to be the standard in the very near future and the Linux community is going to have to take a harder look at it.

    They nailed it, SUSE Leap 15.3 is the new CentOS why? Now it's downstream from SUSE Enterprise Linux, just have it installed as a server since all rpms are virtually the same for both. RAM memory footprint is under 200MB out of the box so you are good to go.

    • @countereverything
      @countereverything 3 роки тому

      I feel like the fact that you have to disable external repos, repoint your mirrors, and upgrade every year makes it kind of unappealing for server compared to Deb/Ubuntu lts 5 year support and especially centos/rocky 10 year support. Are the leap point updates more of a sure thing than I thought?

    Can someone tell me what to do to fix a leap15.3 problem. One of the files (swap) for leap15.3 had it's UUID changed. I did change the entry in the swapfile from UUID=.uuidstring to
    /dev/nvmeon1p6 (to eliminate the UUID=xxxxx string. With the rescue boot, leap recognizes the updated fstab, but with the original leap 15.3 menu, it still picks up the fstab that was used at time of instllation. Furthermore, rather than nautilus or what ever, doing a 1 minute 30 timeout, the timeout has no limit.
    I have searched from / for second copies of /etc/fstab to no avail. What can I do to avoid a complete reininstallation?

    • @shady4tv

      Alpine is a lightweight busybox focused distro and it's small footprint makes it ideal for containers. DevOps is a process of merging development and automation into the IT Operations Stack.
      if you want to see what alpine is - just install docker on any Linux machine and run:
      docker run -it alpine

    • @Alexander-is9jo
      @Alexander-is9jo 3 роки тому

      @@glidersuzuki5572 Mint is a good option. You can try it live before installing, see what you think.
      Mint is ready out of the box, with lots of packages do you don't have to install much, but too bloated for my taste and I didn't really liked Cinnamon or Mate (that must be because I started late at linux and never tried Gnome 2)
      Now, compared to Leap or Debian, I would say Mint isn't quite as stable as those. For one thing, Leap is literally using the same binarie packages as SUSE Enterprise, making Leap a free version of its enterprise-grade operating system. But that doesn't mean it isn't stable. It's based on Ubuntu LTS and that thing is pretty reliable.
      For a production server you can't go wrong with either Leap, Debian stable or Ubuntu server. You can use Mint too, altho I don't think is the best use case. Mint is more for a new user looking for a solid desktop experience without needing to learn or install much.
