They talked about the process of the Hollywood Walk of Fame on the most recent episode of the Threedom podcast, because Bob Odenkirk recently got a star and two of the hosts are friends of his. Generally, the celebrities themselves don’t pay the $55,000 for the star. Usually it’s the studios and/or companies they’re working with paying for it, solely for the publicity for the project they’re working on. For example, the final season of Better Call Saul was about to come out, so AMC bought the star for Bob just for the buzz. They mentioned this is why someone like Weird Al Yankovic didn’t have a star for most of his career. Because he wasn’t working with any major companies, and he wasn’t going to buy one for himself.
One of the best things about the Walk Of Fame is when Ryan Reynolds answered how he got his star during an interview and he just flat out said: "I bought it." Leave it to Deadpool to be that brutally honest about it.
That struck me as odd at first, like are they doing 50% off sales or something? But I'm guessing they give legit celebrities codes that knock the whole submission cost off and just have the price tag there to prevent troll submissions or to grab a little cash from idiots.
If Scott actually went through with this and ACTUALLY got his star on the walk of Fame it would be the biggest troll success since the guy who got Harry styles 1 billion stream award from spotify

Seems redundant, though. If you have to pay for it, is it really an award or an honor ? An award isn't really a handout, it's something earned, celebrity or not.

He went on to headline a number of Nazi-funded propaganda pieces produced by Josef Goebbels. Jannings' career didn't quite recover from being the Third Reich's biggest film star, and he was basically blacklisted following WWII. His star remains on the walk to this day, and strangely the Hollywood Walk of Fame website makes no mention of his political leanings on their page dedicated to him. A truly fun fact.
