he's just an artist. people who are very intelligent and artistic come off as rude because their minds are racing with things they are far more interested in and are far more important than some mindless dribble of a conversation haha
The questions were fantastic, I was wondering if he'd comment on the reflection/parallel world question and unsurprisingly he did. That and the composure of the interviewer make this one of his best interviews imo.
"Making music for Radiohead is like going to the bathroom, I'm just going to the bathroom constantly, and millions are watching me go to the bathroom." ~ Thom Yorke
don't feel bad, thom. this album is helping to shape my life. i thought only i felt this certain way, but now i know at least thom feels the way i feel.
"how do you feel when you are finished doing a record? are you satisfied?" "terrible. i hate it. horrible." haha. that's aweosome. being a musician, i know what it's like. although i will never be close to his writing ability, but all artists feel that way about their work.
His music just pops into his head? Such a genius.. I've been thinking that's probably how most famous musicians make their masterpieces, it's just channeled into them like some supernatural force. Makes me hope that one day I'll just start hearing good music in my head, but that'll probably never happen.
Hypomanics are commonly found in the world of music. Recently, Radiohead front man Thom Yorke admitted "Hypomania? Yes, that's exactly what it was", when asked about his mental complexion after the release of their classic album OK Computer.
Many talented people say that their work has little to do with them themselves and that it's more like tuning into some stream of information from the outside. Thom said it it too
yorke's quite a mysterious character, cos sometimes he's like this, confident, or fidgety and nervous, or like of big fat quiz of the year 2007 when he was just hilarious
"It just beams in, it's got nothing to do with me." This is something that many poets say. They are simply receiving the information from the universe and they write it down. If we think historically in a spiritual sense, the people who are able to do this are essentially prophets; they claim they hear the voice of God. Something to think about.
@Renneskid Yeah, I did notice that he started looking at her a lot more in the latter half of the interview, after I wrote the comment. I also found out about his left eye thing after my initial comment, and I think that definitely affects his subconscious feelings about making eye contact :)
i've just realize that he has more artistic sense than others musicians. For instance, he liked the question about what he thought about his music and stuff. And also about can't hearing his album....I like him now, :)
He is honest, thats what makes him an "asshole". If he doesnt like anything he will say it. And that's one of the reasons I look up to him so much. Hes not playing any game.
i wish i had thoms depression. because hes still able to songwrite and function and have lots of friends and perform all his live shows. my depression completely cripples me to the point where i can barely talk or do anything.
President Donald Trump Me too darling. Its been a while since I've done music and people liked it. My Depression Consumed me so much couldn't enjoy it ,because I still didn't feel good enough.
@MrsNemonina Thanks for the information, I wouldn't have had Roche down as an Oasis fan (!), but I guess there's no accounting for taste... also a good lesson that seeing isn't always believing. :)
Well I'm not glad, it's horrible that he can't love what they've created just because everything else ends up bludgeoning what was such a pure thing from within him. I'm sure he would still have the drive to continue with music and do better if he ever liked one of their albums. I mean Thom Yorke is an artist, he needs to do it.
@weirddaytoday This is about Hail to the Thief. There is a joke in part 2 that is supposed to be a play on words which refers to BackDrifts. off of HttT.
lol at how he says hi twice, because i think he realised that the first "hi" sounded really cold and sarcastic
He's a genius. He's so genuine in this interview and always honest.
I really like the idea that the music comes to him from some unknown place - that he receives it. his music is ethereal, haunting and otherwordly.
This is my porn.
I know it's been a year but.......(unzips) please go on 😳
He sounds totally tired and depressed and I wanna give him a hug! He is just so fragile it seems..
he's just an artist. people who are very intelligent and artistic come off as rude because their minds are racing with things they are far more interested in and are far more important than some mindless dribble of a conversation haha
I think thom is awfully aware of what he's doing and how others might view it, like at the start he makes an effort to put in a more enthusiastic hi
Dank Meme lol 100% agree
I think it’s because she didn’t reply to the first hi
that was a great interview. seeing thom slowly warm up to her, then the affectionate looks he begins sharing. rad
"Everything is a limitation." Spoken like a true innovator.
What’s up Warren? I love your vids man!
he is a lovely, very honest bloke.
Absolutely... this is probably the best interview i have ever seen Thom have, she is great!
Thom keeps touching his lips and she keeps fidgeting & smiling a lot!!!
it's so sweeeeeeeeettttttttttttttttt lol :P
and great interview aswell! :D
Yes it is soooo sweeet!
No eye contact whatsoever...I love it! :)
She did a great job interviewing him and he seems somewhat comfortable with her. I love him so much!
The questions were fantastic, I was wondering if he'd comment on the reflection/parallel world question and unsurprisingly he did. That and the composure of the interviewer make this one of his best interviews imo.
He doesn't seem like an asshole, just a bit awkward and knows what he wants.
He's so awesomely weird, I love the guy so much.
This has to be my favorite interview of all interviews. Haha.
"Making music for Radiohead is like going to the bathroom, I'm just going to the bathroom constantly, and millions are watching me go to the bathroom." ~ Thom Yorke
its to be expected that someone of such musical genius would be somewhat socially ackward... i mean thats just the balance of the universe
This is the most normal I've ever seen him. Good for you Thom! It's good to see him happy.
Wow, Thom blew that chick away, incredibly insightful answers from Mr. Yorke!
don't feel bad, thom. this album is helping to shape my life. i thought only i felt this certain way, but now i know at least thom feels the way i feel.
omg!..thom yorke its soooo beautiful!!
He's such a sweetheart :')
This dude is so awesome, I have to meet him someday.
I would be nervous too... the thought of unknowingly asking a stupid question would give me the chills.
I wish there were still shows in the german television like this. But it's all gone down the drain...
i think his "i wait like this" is fucking hilarious
wow. Thom is adorable in this vid!!!
That WAS a good question (at 3:23). It's so rare that reporters ask musicians intelligent questions.
What year is this video from?
Interviewer: "First I'd like to talk about cycles."
Expression on Thom's face: WTF
i love his smile and his blue eyes
That was a god damn amazing question.
That woman is just too adorable, i love the way they talk.
Isn't he adorable???
They were good questions i'm watch part 2!
"how do you feel when you are finished doing a record? are you satisfied?"
"terrible. i hate it. horrible." haha. that's aweosome. being a musician, i know what it's like. although i will never be close to his writing ability, but all artists feel that way about their work.
Good question. I like that question.

Makes me hope that one day I'll just start hearing good music in my head, but that'll probably never happen.
i love the part when he laugh!
congrats to the media's question at 3:25.. it's nearly impossible to impress this guy!
hee he's really funny at the end. "i wait like this" :D
Hypomanics are commonly found in the world of music. Recently, Radiohead front man Thom Yorke admitted "Hypomania? Yes, that's exactly what it was", when asked about his mental complexion after the release of their classic album OK Computer.
that interviewer is awesome
"I wait like this" *stares blankly*
LOL! XD
he is incredible :)
This man is really somewhere else. it's awesome. xD
having left canada since writing my comment i've come to the conclusion that you're right,
her english is perfect.
He's someone who truly thinks about what he says before he says it. Not many people do that.
This interviewer needs to be on TV more...
These 2 have the chemistry that is when you realise being a human being is ok!
that interview had really good questions. thom, you are god
good question, i like that question
*looks at camera*
XD that's a good one
Many talented people say that their work has little to do with them themselves and that it's more like tuning into some stream of information from the outside. Thom said it it too
He laughed :D
intresting interview thanks for the post;)
She's hysterical!
Thom is Great!
she is so god damn smitten with thom. you can see it as soon as she says hello. and he's brilliant in this interview "I write away like this" lol
what interview for which album is this
that last question was fuckin AWE-SOME!!
agree with you on Pablo Honey, but I loved Hail to the thief. But In Rainbows that was beautiful...
yorke's quite a mysterious character, cos sometimes he's like this, confident, or fidgety and nervous, or like of big fat quiz of the year 2007 when he was just hilarious

OMG haha that interviewer is priceless
She's like a child asking Santa what she wants for Christmas
he was in a good mood that day
i've just realize that he has more artistic sense than others musicians. For instance, he liked the question about what he thought about his music and stuff. And also about can't hearing his album....I like him now, :)
WOW I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT NOTICED!! hahahaha
he is a true intellectual
i love him
She's an excellent interviewer.
Tuned into a certain frequency? I wonder if Thom has ever listened to Gong. Sounds like invisible Radio Ga-nomes to me.
He is honest, thats what makes him an "asshole". If he doesnt like anything he will say it. And that's one of the reasons I look up to him so much. Hes not playing any game.
This interview took place in 2003, soccerrocker258. And, to answer your second question: Hail to the Thief is the record that Thom was talking about
she just caught thom on a good day.
Oh my god haha he slapped himself. :D He is precious. ^-^ I always admired his cheekbones for some odd reason hehe. x]
Could the mic be any longer?
he is really.... weird, sweet, smart.... i don't now, i can't explain...
He's weird in a good way!
She is lovely!
if i talked with Thom York, I would be nervous too.
He is gorgeous.
Happens to me too mad. It's just like hearing the sound of your voice I think. Everyone I know says they can't stand the sound of their voice.
He's a fucking great genious. I can't think of another word. At LEAST a genious.
i wish i had thoms depression. because hes still able to songwrite and function and have lots of friends and perform all his live shows. my depression completely cripples me to the point where i can barely talk or do anything.
President Donald Trump Me too darling. Its been a while since I've done music and people liked it. My Depression Consumed me so much couldn't enjoy it ,because I still didn't feel good enough.
I hope you both are okay
@MrsNemonina
Thanks for the information, I wouldn't have had Roche down as an Oasis fan (!), but I guess there's no accounting for taste... also a good lesson that seeing isn't always believing. :)
Thom has always struck me as being a really nice guy.
@someone6878 I think she's maybe German. It sounds like some odd European accent. And there's German (I think?) subtitles at the bottom.
what an intelligent man!
Yes he is! :D
Check out parts 2 and 3 too, the interviewer wants Thom
@weirddaytoday This is about Hail to the Thief. There is a joke in part 2 that is supposed to be a play on words which refers to BackDrifts. off of HttT.
he's in a rare socially appealing form
HES GOREGEOUS!!!
god hes adorable
My thoughts exactly...
i like him so much, i think he could be someone i could talk to for hours, but maybe i would bored him hahaha
"Hi.....H-i!..." haha
