- Yamaha's NMax 155 offers riders a small capacity, cheap to run and register scooter with formidable performance for the category, at just over $5k AUD ride-away, making for an ideal option if you want turn and go performance and scooter performance.
Boasting sporty styling, LED head and taillights, simple controls and Yamaha reliability, the NMax 155 is an ideal daily run-around, urban commuter and even features ABS as standard fitment.
13-inch wheels give agile handling, with a low centre of gravity and low overall weight, meaning anyone can jump on board and have some fun, without feeling intimidated.
Here's my full thoughts on the 2020 Yamaha NMax 155 scooter, if you've got any questions just ask below.

A top review. Good job mate. Thanks heaps.
I just bought the 2020 model yesterday in the same colour Matt blue. I absolutely love it! Plenty of power from take off and love the ABS feature also !
Just bought mine in the blue too! I was set on an xmax, but then had a realisation that as I have a bike I don't actually need the xmax's power or price hike, and was just being a bit ... Jeremy Clarkson about it lol - poweeeer! - even though the whole point of the scooter was supposed to be a cheap and cheerful way to get to work and take the miles off my bike lol.
Ride home was slow lol as it's in break in, but man, so much better than I honestly expected it to be. There's also some good deals around (mine was A$4600 ride away) as I think they're trying to clear stock before the 2021 one with the updated dash and stop start comes out. To be honest not having stop/start nor the key fob was actually a plus lol!
Thanks to @Chris for mentioning the rubbing shoes - I'll defo put some helicopter tape or rubber on the side plastics to protect them from my boots lol.
@@jonpram1737 Which dealership did u buy it from? thats a great price
@@lloyd9259 I got it from Yamaha City in Melbourne.
IIRC $500 of the discount was a winter promo from Yamaha Australia that ran from July to Sept last year, so it might be worth keeping at eye out this year just in case?
Unfortunately the rest of it was I think a covid discount. Some of the deals last year at the start of covid before people started cashing out their supers to buy bikes were insane. I bought an ex demo SV650 about 10 months ago for $5.5k because the dealership was closing their site and had to clear out all their demo bikes. I sold it in December for $9250! I was tempted to keep it, but I couldn’t really ignore how much it had gone up in price. There was also a street triple demo 1/3 off that really I should have bought as I’d probably kept it, but I got discount fever with the SV lol
Love your reviews mate keep up the good work
Thanks!!
Great review thx
Awww, you got our old nmax design in the Philippines. We have a new design for 2020 nmax.
Well done review. There are just not so many similar machines. In the 125cc class there are many. Take care mate and keep it up.
Great Review Sir ! I also want to buy a NMAX 155 ! think perfect for Country Roads and city !!😃🤩
How many kilometers do you get on a tank, and how many liters of fuel to fill it?
yamaha nmax is the best..👍💕
Great little machine isn't it!
in Indonesia the price is cheaper and you get complete features (keyless, ABS, and connected to smartphone). the price is around Rp.33,000,000 (2,443 USD / 3,069 AUD)
A very comprehensive review 👍
Is the nmax capable of short stints on the freeway? Does it have enough grunt to get up to 105kph within the length of a typical freeway on-ramp?
That should be possible as long as you're not heading up a steep hill, and cruise around that 100km/h speed, but that's very high in the revs. With enough room and a bit of a downhill you can pick up more speed, but it's situational.
@@MotoJournoKris Thanks, mate! Most of my planned travel will be under 80, with an occasional stint on the freeway.
@@laustenfaught6805 You should be good then!
@@MotoJournoKris how about a 2 hours 100kph in open road? Is it ok or no?
@@Egami03 You're really going to be running those revs really high for extended periods, but I can't see why not.
Hello. What is your height? Anyway it is a good bike
Hey i just bought one and i would like to know wich Dunlops had that one. Dunlop ScootSmart ? mine has the stock IRC and i wanted to get new ones
Yep, Dunlop ScootSmarts fitted front and rear!
My Dunlop’s lasted about 2 months before they got swapped out to Michelin City Grips which come in the 110/70 r13 & 130/70 r13 sizes. SIGNIFICANTLY better wet weather performance, especially on the rear which used to get pretty squirrelly on the Dunlop’s when it rained
It was the fastest I’ve ever changed out a set of tyres! I just really, really didn’t like the stock tyres in the rain at all. Outside the rain, the stock tyres were completely fine - had the scoot leaned all the way over to scrape the centre stand a few times with complete confidence in them, but yeah... in the rain those Dunlop’s were sketchy
@@jonpram1737 Yep, I'll normally just wear out the standards, but I really like something that I'm confident on in the wet as that tends to be where you want the extra confidence if you're an all-weather rider.
@@jonpram1737 dunlops are shite
Got one here in Adelaide. Only gripe is the storage isn't as good as the Honda 125. Besides that it is fantastic.
A bit more storage would be good, I didn't notice till I had the XMax which will take two full helmets with room to spare.
About one helmet and gloves. I can squeeze my pants in but its tight. The PCX125 storage was far more usable.
@@Rally4Life1982 I do reckon I'd probably put a top box on the NMax to expand the storage out a bit, if it was my daily commuter. It's good for leaving a helmet and gloves on the scoot, but I've been spoiled by the bigger options that will fit two full face with room to spare now.
Just curios.... is enough power for 250 lb man ?
Two up with about 300lb on board you do start to notice the effect that has on the power available and acceleration, but it's still pretty good for a little 155! But obviously we're talking in small capacity terms here.
I have currently 2019 nmax155. Fuel consumption is 40km/Liter . Very good.
Btw this is not 2020 nmax 155. It is 2019 as well.. 2020 has different dash board and keyless ignition
This is the 2020 version in Australia, we don't get the keyless ignition version of the 155.
Also the 2020 nmax have a traction control and Y connect that you can connect to your phone
Strange, my country this is older model, Nmax 2020 is a keyless, dual ABS, traction control and Bluetooth Y connect to phone.
I think some of the bigger scooter markets got the updated version sooner. We won't get the updated version till later in 2021 here in Australia. From memory it's similar for Europe, with the version with most of those updates only just announced for 2021. I'll probably do a video on the announcement and cover it in the next week or two!
@@MotoJournoKris you will love the latest one
@@pangdesapro8140 Can't wait to try it!
with upgrade Malossi CVT ( Variator, Belt and Clutch) you will go faster and smoother
Interesting, that looks like a cool mod for those after a bit more performance.
👍 👍 👍 😷
Would you recommend it if I always had a passenger? and do you think it's comfortable for them?
I only did a few short trips with a pillion and it did the job well, especially for a little 155cc. My pillion did prefer the XMax 300, but I think the NMax is still a good option, particularly for the price.
How many km on a full tank?
Easily 200 km, it's only a small tank though.
Please nmax or pcx ?
I haven't had a chance to test the PCX so I'm not sure how the two compare I'm afraid!
NMax
I have the Yamaha Xenter it's better . Nmax too small.
Interesting, I don't think we get that model in Australia!
