These songs are from the album "Feathers And Flesh", a concept album. The whole album is an original fable written by them. As you pointed out, it's about an owl. Or rather the conflict between the owl ( predator of the night) and the eagle (predator of the day). All the songs are from the point of view of animals in the fable. The new album coming out in a week will be their 9th and they predate the Avatar Hollywood movie, so they did not take their name from that. They are a rabbit hole well worth traveling down. Every song and album are different. They traverse almost all of the metal genres but yet keep it their own style. I STRONGLY urge you to dig deeper.

"Of feathers and flesh" is really their opus magni. The more you listen to it and learn about the concept, the better it gets. Already planned "sky burial" for my funeral.. :D
I enjoyed your reaction so much! I love seeing people listen to this amazing band! Avatar is definitely my favorite one! They can do heavy, melodic, fast paced, slow paced - _anything._
I highly recommend checking out more of their stuff! If you'd like to hear more of the lead singer's vocal range, I suggest: 'The King Welcomes You To Avatar Country' (great song title since you're new to them😂).
If you'd like something heavy, but catchy, try Hail The Apocalypse!
If you'd like a mix of melodic and heavy, try A Secret Door!
And for something melodic, try Going Hunting or one of their newest songs: The Dirt I'm Buried In!
Avatar has something for everyone! Really hope you'll react to more, they have so much more to offer! But either way, thank you for giving them a chance! :)
You should check out the live version from their live stream during the early days of the pandemic. Called Avatar Ages. Unbelievably great live band.
This song was inspired European power metal, especially Helloween's Eagle Fly Free. But it's Owl Fly Free.))) And The Eagle has Landed is the reference too. Maybe.😚
