This song to me is Avatar in a nutshell. It has the uptempo power metal of the first albums, the atmospheric breakdowns of Black Waltz, the catchy mainstream feel of Hail the Apocalypse, and its own clean and melodic vocals which seems to be a new theme of the new album. Great bands evolve. And Avatar does just that but also makes sure they bring back the past sounds. Awesome

yup, if you listen to Feathers & Flesh (In His Own Words) he tells the entire story, and every picture describes an event/a song in it
> 1st picture (Regret): The owl, crawling and dying by the dawn, regretting her decisions and wishing for things to turn back to what they were
> 2nd pic (House of Eternal Hunt): Basically an anthem to the owl's majesty as the queen of the night sky
> 3rd pic (The Eagle Has Landed): Introduces the eagle, a powerful and arrogant creature, a symbol of danger and the forecoming dawn, theatening the owl's reign
> 4th pic (New Land): The eagle threatens to eat the owl's eggs, so she flies away with them looking for a safe place to hide them
> 5th pic (Tooth, Beak & Claw): The owl gathers all the eyes in the dark forest to fight with (in reality, for) her against the eagle

Yup, they really have the unique talent to blend everything into a wonderful mix. You can hear Prog, power, death and heavy all at once in one single song.

That... was awesome! It started off reminding me a little bit of Pink Floyd then turned into a System of a Down / Sabaton hybrid with a little Rhapsody of Fire mixed in. This band has a great deal of talent and a flair for the dramatic, and they never cease to surprise me with their ability to compose and mix different styles while maintaining their originality and signature sound. I can't wait to see them live again.
Yeah, i couldn't stop thinking about Rhapsody of Fires song "Reign of terror" when the chorus kicked in.
I really like their latest album. It has lots of elements from other great bands, while turning them into something unique.

People associate things they enjoy. It's kind of like someone used to tell me my band sounded like Gwar. That person was a huge Gwar fan. We were a thrash metal band so I didn't hear it, but you get what I'm saying? It's like this reminds me of Amon Amarth. The idea of going on an epic adventure.
+TennesseeHild I see where you're coming from. This entire song screamed "Viking/Folk/Pagan" metal to me, so I can see where you would hear some Amon Amarth in this.

I definitely hear Ensiferum in this starting at 2:10. I think the A7X comments come from the vocals. Very forceful, emphasis on every syllable.
i didnt hear avenge at all until i read your comment. but now i can totally hear it at certain segments in the song. and i hear it in the instrumentals more so than the vocals.
Avatar has some of the best instrumentals these days

Nasty Nate considering track 1 is an intro track I'd figure so. though looking at the album how it is intended to be track 1 is the "well everything sucks, this is how it all went down" then track 2 is the beginning of the story

I really like this new form of their music. It a mix of a lot of genres. A few power metal, a few tharsh metal, a few death metal... It's fckin awesome!! Avatar is one of my favorite metal bands ever!

Honestly, one of my favorite things about this band is that their songs don't feel as long as they are. I get lost in their music and before I'm aware of the world around me, 5-7 minutes have past. There's never a dull moment in their songs :)

Just saw them at Louder Than Life at the beginning of this month and they BY FAR stole the show. They were amazing.

He can have the most brutal hards then go into those powerful cleans so easily. Him and Tatiana from jinjer are easily my two favourite metal vocalist right now. Not too many can top them in my ears.

julio marques de aguiar unknown? not true, they have been around in Europe for a while and is fairly well known, US and Asia didn't hear anything from avatar prior to black waltz, and from what Johannes has said during interview probably better that way as the band we know and love to death is nowhere in their old work. but since their break out internationally they have rapidly gooten bigger. it's just people are comparing them to bands that have been established for up to a decade longer and had a strong US fanbase early on. not making it seemed biased, but artists out of US seem to get globally recognized faster than others for better or for worse.
