  • I loved the piano, simple yet effective. The lyrics were curious to read and try and imagine where it is being written from. My first thought was a bird of prey but my gut tells me it is much deeper. Also trying something new with listing the song information just to give more information about the band/cd. A goof up on the exit and it not disappearing LOL...Fixed for future vids.

This was from a series of four live steams during the early days of covid. I have seen them live four times, they are an incredible live band.

These are the first two songs from an album about an owl that declared war to try to prevent the sun from rising.

I got to see Avatar live July 15 at Upheaval Festival. This band has a ridiculous level of talent. The main vocalist also plays Trumpet and both guitarists do backing vocals as well.😎🤘
I would recommend Napalm live to see his full vocal ability.

Regret/House of Eternal Hunt a.k.a Owl Fly Free is amazing song! I love it!)))
It was Age of Illusions, the livestream. Songs from albums Feathers & Flesh and Avatar Country.
These are the first tracks from the concept album Feathers and Flesh - about an Owl who wants to stop the dawn coming. You have already disassembled the track from it - Тhe Eagle has Landed. It was a representation of the Owl's main enemy, and she believed that if she killed him, the sun would not rise. This is a genre of twisted fairy tale, so the Owl is not exactly wise.) Regret is how it ended, looped with Sky Burial. The House of Eternal Hunt is intentionally made in the spirit of the Halloween band (Eagle Fly Free, you know??? I made the reference in the beginning), the first appearance of the Owl, the ruler of the night. The harpsichord melody at the end was invented by Jonas Jarlsby, a guy with dreadlocks. It's a very dark album about loss, failure and death.
That outfits they wearing in 2016 and 2017 year tours.
Duude, please reaction to For the Swarm, New Land and Night Never Ending from same album!)) New Land especially. You will love it.

Thank you!))) 😍😍😍 And I forgot to say, what Johannes wrote an epic 109 verse poem to go with the F&F album, released as a book, and also on audio where he reads this out. That version is incredible! 🥰🥰🥰 Feathers & Flesh (In His Own Words) was released in June 2017, and in July he started a MetalBreak podcast. A coincidence? I don't think so.))

I was going to say that from what I read Feathers and Flesh was a concept album basically about the life and death of an owl. But I appreciate how much more detail and information you gave. Very interesting. I love Avatar!

Great reaction and I appreciate the honesty, despite not having the context it’s great that you got the whole thing about the bird of prey, I would also very much agree with you, Johannes isn’t the be all end all of singing in Metal but the guy can perform like hell and that’s one of the reasons he captivates my attention, I will say I felt like he was a bit off during some parts of these shows, he’s not a natural talent that can just switch it on, I’ve heard him belt some amazing vocals live and in other times sound a bit weaker (though his growling is always outstanding), but due to how well done the songs are and the energy he always brings it rarely bothers me if I’m honest, plus he never sounds bad to me.
Also I’m sure you’ve already been told but this was from their concept album Feathers & Flesh, it’s a fable, which is about an owl and an eagle going to war, the owl rules the night and one day the eagle comes in and threatens to take over by bringing the day, so she thinks that by killing him she’ll stop the sun from rising (which is obviously not how it works but she’s only ever known night), this song, regret is the owl in her final moments, it’s also the beginning of the album, the story starts at the end, then it goes back to the beginning, that being house of eternal hunt where she’s at her peak before the story is set into motion. This album is genuinely one of my favorites and I recommend it as a full listen to anyone who I recommend the band to, the songs themselves are monologues by the different creatures in the story, there’s a version of the album you can buy and they did 2 limited runs of a book which includes poems in between the songs to tell the story, it’s really neat.
Also for context concerning the audience! this was from a set of livestreams they did during lockdown (early 2021), they did 4 livestreams, this was from their second one, the first they did the entirety of their at the time newly released album Hunter Gatherer + the most voted for songs (buying a ticket for each show granted you the ability to vote for songs you wanted to see in the setlist), in this show, the second one, they did the most voted for from Feathers & Flesh and Avatar Country, on their third show it was most voted from Hail the Apocalypse and Black Waltz, and in their last show the most voted for from their first 3 albums. They wore their respective costumes (and lack of them for the last show) when performing for each album. But all of it was live vocals and everything. They were all about 2 hours or so each with an intermission between albums.

He's a great character and there are times in music because of the character the vocals don't always have to match. :) I still enjoy their music

At the beginning of Regret I thought maybe it was a Sergio Leone intro!! They are creative but never really got hooked on them.
