Plugging the monitor into the motherboard instead of the gpu will sometimes force your system to use integrated graphics instead of your gpu for anyone confused.
Explanation: when you plug the video cable into the motherboard, the graphics are being rendered by your CPU’s integrated graphics. This is not good because you should be using your GRAPHICS CARD graphics. Hope this helps!
Optimally it shouldn't matter. Except for latency. There should be an option to use either regardless where the monitor is plugged in and pass through to other outputs. This used to be an option to use more monitors than your dGPU has enough ports for. I don't recall it enabling gaming from the dGPU on any display not direct attached to it though. Maybe my idea was never supported because it's a waste of dev cost for undesired results at best anyway.
Thanks for this input. I checked mine and I only have a VDI cable plugged in the right connector. But the CPU temp is sky-high while its usage is normal. I guess in my case, I must change the cooler.
I did that when I bought a Custom PC back in 2016. ~£750 which isnt a lot but was a huge upgrade for me. I spent a _Year_ playing like that before finding out (From an EA support agent of all people) that I needed to buy a HDMI cable and plug my Monitor in to the Graphics card I paid for and never used for a year. The PC lasted me a good 3 years, which for that Price i'd say is fairly good.

My friend also did the same mistake. He was playing Escape From Tarkov around 14FPS in mid-settings and when he figured out his mistakes and fixed it, the game instantly skyrocketed up to 240 FPS in max-settings.
I always tried to make sure that the on-board graphics were disabled in the BIOS, but I never had an issue with plugging the monitor into the wrong port. If I'm spending a big chunk of cash on an graphics card, you can bet that I'm making darn sure my monitor is plugged into the thing.
Usually when you have a ob graphics then it will be disabled and not display at all when you plug in a PCIE video card as it gets disabled, atleast that is how my cheap junk has always been, even back in the days of AGP and old PCI, a add on card would cause the bios to disable the onboard.

Using the onboard graphics gave him the PS5 Pro experience.
If Kratos was building pc ...
I always tried to make sure that the on-board graphics were disabled in the BIOS, but I never had an issue with plugging the monitor into the wrong port. If I'm spending a big chunk of cash on an graphics card, you can bet that I'm making darn sure my monitor is plugged into the thing.
Usually when you have a ob graphics then it will be disabled and not display at all when you plug in a PCIE video card as it gets disabled, atleast that is how my cheap junk has always been, even back in the days of AGP and old PCI, a add on card would cause the bios to disable the onboard.
you just brought me back to when i got my first pc i did this
the bigest rookie mistake is "to do the first one without help"
