      Since all PC games are free, if you play A LOT of them, you'll make your money back from the investment. But for a PC to be worth upgrading over current gen 4k gaming, you'll spend about $3000 so it'll take about 4 years pirating 1 AAA game per month to see the return on investment.

    On many systems, possibly older ones, once a dgpu is detected, the motherboard disables the igpu. On some newer systems, I’ve found that you can configure which gpu you want to use, so that the port you use doesn’t matter. But it’s still better to just plug the monitor into the dgpu, if available, so that you don’t have to deal with weird configs, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing.

    • @Vittrich
      @Vittrich 5 місяців тому

      System should always use igpu until you start a 3d application, then it should switch automaticly to dgpu, its for powersaving messures because my pc actually pulls 170w incl. the 4K monitor and in games on 4k ultra it pulls around 900w.

    • @xnetpc
      @xnetpc 5 місяців тому

      I wouldn’t disable on the onboard graphics because it is handy to have an option for troubleshooting if you’re having issues with your video card. I’ve done a lot of work in corporate environments and they often want a video card installed to allow multiple monitors to be set up. They will never game on their computer, so I set the onboard graphics on their screen, then the additional screen or screens will be connected to the video card

    • @uncrunch398
      @uncrunch398 5 місяців тому +2

      Optimally it shouldn't matter. Except for latency. There should be an option to use either regardless where the monitor is plugged in and pass through to other outputs. This used to be an option to use more monitors than your dGPU has enough ports for. I don't recall it enabling gaming from the dGPU on any display not direct attached to it though. Maybe my idea was never supported because it's a waste of dev cost for undesired results at best anyway.

I plugged my Monitor to the Motherboard because that was the only compatible slot for the cable I had. I spent a _Year_ playing like that before finding out (From an EA support agent of all people) that I needed to buy a HDMI cable and plug my Monitor in to the Graphics card I paid for and never used for a year. The PC lasted me a good 3 years, which for that Price i'd say is fairly good.

    As a (used to be) PC technician the PRIMARY issues of people bringing in systems they built that are under performing were.
    2. RAM in wrong slots. Back in the day when RAM was WAY slower, putting them in the wrong slot was a tangible dip in performance.
    1. GPU in wrong PCIE slot. Guy brought in a PC once that had the gpu in the bottom slot... Slot 4. When I asked why, he said "well there are vents down there so I wanted to make sure the card got as much fresh air as possible. (that slot was a PCIE gen 2, X4 slot. AND! Since he had a HDD plugged into the sata 3gig port then that PCIE port ran at 2x)
    Till that point that mans GPU was running at probably 30% of its max performance.

    I knew this from the start! I'm like a genius with these things at this point. It's always these simple issues that are overlooked, especially with people who haven't built a computer before. I remember I did this once or twice with my computer but I didn't have integrated graphics so I realised faster

    This is one of the most common ones for first timers.
    Another one that is rare but happens is that for some reason the graphics driver or the os decides to make the system run games on integrated gpu, usually to save power. And that thing can be random af.

    Sometimes it could be the windows power plan on powerSaving mode as well, which causes your system to run on integrated graphics instead of your main GPU.

    There was once a time when i was 14 i just got gifted my brother’s old gaming pc with parts that in that time were the best, one day i decided to move the PC to some other room in my apartment and when i plugged every cable back i plugged the monitor in the motherboard, i was so stressed and couldn't even realise why my PC started running so bad, two weeks later i found about this and changed it.

    You can also change in windows which graphics device is used for high performance applications and is able to output through the motherboard ports. There is a very small performance loss this way but it's only noticeable to people that have rivatuner pasted over 80% of the monitor 👌

    Usually when you have a ob graphics then it will be disabled and not display at all when you plug in a PCIE video card as it gets disabled, atleast that is how my cheap junk has always been, even back in the days of AGP and old PCI, a add on card would cause the bios to disable the onboard.

    I always tried to make sure that the on-board graphics were disabled in the BIOS, but I never had an issue with plugging the monitor into the wrong port. If I'm spending a big chunk of cash on an graphics card, you can bet that I'm making darn sure my monitor is plugged into the thing.
