    Hi Braethorn. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. I was helping my friend open his first pre-build PC. He looked into the case and said, "Oh my God! It must have been damaged during shipment." I asked him how he knew his PC was damaged. He said, "Look, the airbag has deployed!" I believe there are two words you should never use when producing a video like this one: "You Know."

    As usual, great video. As someone who's been in the PC enthusiast hobby (and custom building) for a LONG time and someone who's worked in the SI/Boutique industry, I like checking out videos like this to see if they're worth recommending to friends/customers of mine. This video was straight to the point for someone new to it, and at no time did it sound like you were talking down to the viewer. Great job, keep it up.

      That feedback means a lot, thank you! I worked for about 15 years in various IT positions, and one of the most important skills I developed was how to break down complex, technical explanations into something palatable for an end user. It's far too easy to come off as a know-it-all any time you're explaining something you know to someone who doesn't know that thing. As someone who loves to share knowledge, I'm happy to hear that I've still got it 😁

    LOVE how encouraging you are, while being accepting that people may not want to tinker. I just bought my 1st prebuilt at 39. I was building systems and OCing at 19, actually wrote a tutorial on overclocking w/ watercooling and TEC elements back in the day (early 2000s). These days I've been out of the game for so long I just want to plug and play.

      Well the controls will be different as most PC gamers use a mouse and keyboard. BUT most PC games from the past 2 decades support game controllers so you can use that if you're more comfortable with a controller. In my opinion, PC gaming requires more up front work and research if you want to have a great experience. A gaming PC is like a regular PC. So if you're looking to build a gaming system, you will need to understand at least at a general level the parts of a computer. You don't need to be a PC expert, but it greatly helps to have a general understanding of how the PC components work.

    If you are going to (P)rebuild, remember where your Windows key is. If you are removing the motherboard and putting in a different mother board you need to purchase another key, it is a pain, unless you have a digital activated license. Most third party resellers activations are OEM keys that are completely legal but attach to your motherboard ID. And it does not really matter if you use a system board from the same company when your old one has gone for an RMA and you get a new board back from the manufacturer, you will most likely run into this issue. Merry Christmas to all, however you may celebrate the holidays.

    First time PC owner here and bought it used off facebook marketplace place. First that GPU color looks amazing with the case color, second does is really matter what USB port we plug in the KB/mouse? The photos provided by the previous owner has them in another spot. Along with the peripheral being plugged in i have four items that get plugged in KB, mouse, mouse pad, and MMO keypad is there a hub to plug all of them into or just use the USB ports provided.

    • @braethorn
      @braethorn  6 місяців тому +1

      It doesn't really matter tbh, but you have no reason to get a USB hub until you need it. You can plug them all directly into the back of the system. If you have something like external storage or something that needs a faster port, save the blue or red ports for that, otherwise it's no big deal.

    I’m so glad I can across your channel I just got a Ibuypower y60 I think and I had a hard time hooking all the cables up and tried many different ways.
    The only way I got it to work was I put my dp cable from monitor to the display port on the motherboard then the others I put into the graphics card because I put the display cable from monitor into the gpu but it never worked I could see the arrow but the rest was a black screen. If I put the display from the motherboard into the gpu it won’t work did I do things right? I’ve seen some people put nothing into the motherboard how is that possible🤔🤔

      It's supposed to work from the GPU. If you're having trouble with that, try talking to IBP tech support about it.

    What cord needs to be in the gpu to the monitor? Display cord, HDMI or both?

      Use a display port if your using the monitor and also check on your pc setting your using the highest Refresh rate that your monitor provides

    Just got my prebuilt from a used Amazon listing, it’s a Skytech Prebuilt and unfortunately when I opened it the graphics card was loose inside the pc, but upon getting everything situated and removing the hot glue she’s doing goooood. 3060ti with an i5 12400 for 600 was to good of a deal to pass up

    So what happens if you just use a normal power strip and not an ups?

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 Рік тому +1

      Nothing. Your PC works as normal. Its just that a UPS can help protect your PC in case a sudden power loss. The UPS will keep your PC running so that you can safely turn it off. Its not absolutely critical for most home users to have a UPS, but it can be beneficial. Sudden power loss can cause data loss and/or corruption.

      @JJFlores197 ok, so pretty much a nice fail safe? So won't hurt too get one I'm in a area where they do random blackouts sometimes.
