Pretty accurate title, thanks!! This video was made in the lead up to Neon launch in January 1994, so 1993 is definitely right! These cars were revealed in September 1993 in Frankfurt. Back in 1990, the car already looked exactly the same, except rectangular headlights and not round! Got those old photos still! Mr. Iacocca made them round in September 1991, just 2 years before reveal!
I drove a red Neon in my early years of driving. It drove nice. Every new vehicle should offer a free VHS cassette Tape (or DVD) Overview of the Vehicle. Good video, thanks.
Does this ever bring back memories! I had a blue 95 Plymouth Neon Sport with the 5 speed, fog lights, A/C and cruise control. As this was my first car, I actually rented an automatic Neon for a week to be sure I really wanted the car.
This car is just the greatest car I ever owned, I now own my 7th Neon since 2012, and still got my #4 which is a 98 Highline model. Now my #7 is a 2002 with 35,000 miles on it, clean as it can be. This car means a lot to me.
This is exactly the type of video I would’ve shot back when I was a corporate video producer. I kept looking at the lighting, camera angles and framing, edits, etc., and wondered how many takes this little actress required and how much she got paid for the job. Typical production for the time.
Anyone else here own a ‘95 Neon and had the infamous exhaust manifold donut gasket squeak issue? I took it back at least 3 times to dealer and after 3rd try and fail I looked down at manifold and they literally wrapped it with duct tape to try and “mask” the sound. I threw my arms up and went and bought a ‘93 Ford Probe GT. One of the best cars I’ve ever owned.
I believe renowned amc stylist dick teague styled this which is why it carries the graceful pillored hardtop roof. I think it was the last car he styled.
I despised these fruity little cars as a kid 😂 very girly and cute...but I've gained a lot of appreciation for them with time and find them very nostalgic. They're quintessential 90's hardware and were ubiquitous on American roads. I still occasionally see these cars, especially in Eastern Kentucky when I'm out there. Poor country folks still keeping them alive. You name a crappy 80s or 90s car and I've probably seen one struggling up the Mountain Parkway going 53 in a 70 zone.
For the money they were a great choice for cheap transportation use by students or even adults who did not care about cars at all and just wanted an inexpensive choice. It is now and was then, unrealistic to expect these to go 300K miles with just oil changes and gasoline. Very few cheap new cars still exist these days and the ones that do are made worse than the NEON.
Bought one new in 94. It lasted 20 years and 200,000 miles before being totalled from a low speed head-on collision. It was never problematic although it did need a head gasket at one point in its life.

@@BlackArroToons glad you liked it. I hope it brought back some good memories. :)
I wish I could get a car like that now! Simple, reliable affordable transportation.
@TaylorZ2 I daily a 98 Neon. It's been nothing but reliable "even with a worn out motor" and no car payment.
Most of them needed major maintenance and repairs by 30k. I loved the design and performance of the new ones.
Best car ever owned! Never left me stranded I did not cost a lot over 11 years of ownership! I would buy another one in a heartbeat!
Love my Neon's, they have been nothing but reliable and economical. I can't afford a new car anyways haha.

I agree I had a 2004 Dodge neon SXT she never left me stranded! It never had a repair bill over a couple hundred dollars! Best car ever owned
Glad to hear it.
This just showed up in my fyp. 😂 let’s go!!!

So much nostalgia 😅
the 90s attitude of sitting in a chair the wrong way
@@TaelsDoll it was a different time haha
I haven't driven my neon in decades. Why am i watching this?
@@barrymccaulkiner7092 nostalgia is a funny thing haha.
I had a 98 standard transmission power locks
It was a great car I sold it with 242000
I bought it with 88000.

Cool little car
Once I saw the big hair, I was all in.
I had to do a double take - the host looks like Emily Axford.

Me too! Issue never got fixed before my car was stolen.
I've never run into that issue, but hell yeah on the Ford Probe. I have a couple of those too haha.
I purchased one new in 1998. This is the car that single-handedly made me vow to never purchase a Chrysler car again.
@steveotheraccount8220 sorry to hear that. But hey that's okay. My best friend is the same way. Ford guy lol.
" So you've decided to buy a Dodge Neon......ummm congratulations also..why?"
1993 😅 i was 9
@archives2128 I was 10 haha
It's 1990s neon party scene Kathy Hochul before the eyebrow surgery!

I didn't appreciate them when I was younger either. I even had two of them before I actually really started appreciating them.
❤👍
Who on God's green earth would steal a neon?
Right!
Unless it’s an SRT-4, and even then, that was about a decade after this lol
If only they put the same amount of effort in making this video to designing the cars
The Neon was pretty good as I remember.
Someone’s never heard of the SRT-4

@jeffkeni yeah the factory headgasket wasn't great. The replacement MLS was much much better.
Should have bought an SRT-4
