Dude you cant even say that the AI thing is new for that phone because soon all and better android phones will have it, heck even iphones will have (Assistant is on the iphone and so is other google software). This seems to me like a half ass phone to copy the iphone. If google want to get into the phone business, they should have suck with the Google edition phones they had a few yrs ago (like the samsung and htc phones before, imagine a google edition v30 or s8/note 8)

I have this phone and I absolutely love it both the Note 8 and the Google pixel to have ups and downs and disadvantages to each other but all in all I much prefer the pure Android of the Google pixel the camera is much better than the Note 8 which my aunt has and she likes to take pictures with my phone more anyway, I'm not trying to argue with you just simply telling you why I prefer the Google pixel 2 XL it's a really really good phone and I personally love it and have had for about 2 months

for your info pixel 2 xl makes better photos than any dual camera setup .......they emulate all the features with software and AI except zoom also has the better stability than any phone

SuperFroakie Poor waterproofing? So you can’t go one and a half meters only one lol and you could get a water resistance case too. They make dongles for headphone jacks and you even get one for free. Funny thing is, my iPhone 8 plus sounds better through the adapter than my pixels 3.5 mm jack. And wireless charging? Convenient, but completely unnecessary. You know what doesn’t fix bad software? Wireless charging and headphone jacks - looking at you Samsung and LG.
Joseph Rego I'm happy with my Xperia XZs. It has an headphone jack and a camera with settings you can actually use. The pixel is basically on par with my 2013 original Xperia Z if it was running Oreo.
Pure Android, superb camera, water resistance, small form factor (subjective, I like it) and far less price than the iPhone X (since we're comparing flagships). I'd go for this anyday. My 6 plus has slowed to a crawl :(

The main reason why a lot of phone does not have expandable memory is because the speed.. the built in UFS or EMMC storage's speed (and stability) can't be compared with a cheap, fake SanDisk memory card that you bought from Ali

Nice video sir, the flex test concerns me somewhat. The scratch test doesn't affect me so much since I "insure" my phones with a case anyway but good to know for those going commando. Sure seems to be a lot of hate going on for this phone right now. As an owner of one I have to say it is fantastic so far, battery life, responsiveness, by far best camera on a phone I've ever used. The screen to size ratio is very pleasing to me, I actually like to have some bezel call me crazy. Everything on the phone flies so far and I am eager to see how much better the camera will be once Google turns on their own chip on this baby. To all of you on the fence because of the people out there picking on things that bother them personally (many times without ever trying it themselves, some call that envy), I'd say give it a chance for yourself. Don't buy into other people's opinions about what you should or shouldn't like in life.
I have a 2xl and agree with this completely. Some of the nitpicking has been ridiculous, especially complaining about the blue screen tint when the phone is tilted. A complete non issue.

Lance Stinson The Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL are manufactured by different companies, as Google doesn't make hardware. The regular sized version is produced by HTC, and the XL by LG.
Also, Samsung provides the display for the Pixel 2 and LG for the XL. I repair devices for Google and LG is one of the reasons why the XL is having issues.

Goodbye? Still pre-ordered the 2 XL. I don't plan on taking a knife to it or intentionally trying to bend it in half, so it should be perfectly fine. Especially if I put a case on it like I have with every phone I've ever owned.
Layth Alkhaer Haven't used a headphone jack in years, the bezels on the XL are very small for a phone with squeezable sides and front facing stereo speakers, I wouldn't use wireless charging when fast charging is available, and there's plenty of memory.
To be practical, IP67 and IP68 are not very much different at all. It's not water proof, meaning whether you take it in 1m(ip67) depth or 1.5m(ip68) depth water, chances are it may not survive in either case.
I change phones all the time like seriously once at month sometimes this phone was next in line to replace the LG V30 but after this ill pass these are flaws and things we learn not to do years ago. Thank you Jerry I ll pass to. You are the first UA-camr to actually point out true flaws.
I love the headphone jack, but the incentives of Fi for my ever changing life are too much to pass up on. I went with a Pixel 2 XL for guaranteed support of all features on the network, and it's not a disappointing phone at all.

Deepak Dangol I totally disagree, that's where manufacturers go wrong, trying to please all these youtube blog reviewer's. Some test & reviewers are relevant and some are dumb, like who is going to burn their phone screen, etc. Antenna lines appear to be badly placed allowing a slight bending on one side but he doesn't verify if only the plastic coating cracked or did the metal underneath also break. Then says it may allow water in but no test is done for that.
Cal C pretty much, I was once in an attraction and the safety things (how you call it) pressed so fucking hard on my phone and leg I thought my phone was going to break. Luckily I have an ZTE axon 7 full metal body, but I have the feeling this thing (google pixel) would break apart.

Ishmeet Tuteja headphone jack actually helps the phone, as using the charging port for charging and listening to music destroys it twice as fast. If you use bluetooth headphones, it will drain the battery so the headphone jack is actually pretty important, at least to me it is
I agree would be interesting to see a 2 xl test. Most may be similar, but the body and fit and finish are better and may provide better strength in the bend.

Headphones jacks aren't going wireless when nearly all Laptops and computers still use them. The world will go completely wireless in 10 years at most, if ever. The headphone jack isn't obselete when it's better than wireless imo.
All laptops have bluetooth and you're more likely to listen to music on your phone then a laptop. Get a set of wireless headphones and you'll never look back.
I personally use wireless headphones on my computer, because then I can move around my room freely (even though I still go wired when doing serious music listening and not just using it as background, watching youtube or something like that). But I honestly don't see the point in removing the headphone jack. Going wireless is supposed to remove physical restraints, just like cellphones did some decades ago. But if your phone is always in your pocket, you don't need to worry about the length of the cable connecting your earbuds to the device. There's no advantage to carrying around a little heavier pair of earbuds and a case, along with the fact that you'd have to worry about the batteries on two devices instead of just one. I appreciate the fact that he points out the lack of the headphone jack every time. Not only because it's now become a major selling point for many people, but also because he usually follows it up with a witty joke.
You should do the XL model since it's manufactured by LG instead of HTC for the smaller version while they have similarities differences may be present

Just some things to show how perspective works. 1. People were whining about iPhones "copying Android progress years later" since multitasking. It took Apple about 1 year to add this feature to iPhone after Android. And look at it now: a top grade iPhone from 2017 feels great on 2 gigs of RAM, while an Android phone's bare minimum is 4 Gb, or much better 6 Gb. My old iPhone 4 with 0,5 Gb of RAM never loses a notification from 5-7 messengers, while my Android phone with 3 Gb constantly closes applications. Why? Because Apple took their time to make it right, and they compress all the background process 10x-20x times, always freeing up the memory, while Android keeps the whole 100% memory cargo of an application even in 2017. Now, do you still feel superior in the fact that Android did multitasking first (and so fast that can't make it right for 10 years)? 2. Wireless charging is a useless feature, counting it is almost like counting removing the 3.5mm jack as a feature. And "2 cameras" is a contradictory subject as well, you can do portrait mode without adding a second module. The only useful thing it does is allow for 2x zoom in some. In other cases adding one big light-friendly top-grade module AND good software is better for the image, than taking space from the main module to add the second little gimmick and hurting its quality. Pixel 2 just proved it. But marketing loves "progress", and 2 cameras is 2 times as much, so hey, progress, whee! 2. Speaking about progress. Pixel 2 is by far not the most durable or most canonical Android phone. It never was. What it was is a fresh phone with actual new useful features and the best camera in the world. While every other phone stagnated between copying trends like 2 cameras and trying to look as premium as possible, Google added: portrait mode with 1 camera, recognizing songs on the go, fresh design and look, etc. It's not the king of Android, it's the king of innovation and feature quality progress.

I have the Pixel and it still runs like new after a year of having it. So spec wise it's pretty good. I had the phone with a case for a month and dropped it many times during that month and it didn't scratch or crack, also no color was absorbed from my jeans. Although I would still recommend a case as it doesn't feel all that sturdy. But without a case the phone feels so nice so idk.
i really doubt nokia, sony, samsung and LG will stop making phones with headphone jacks. specially sony because they sell tons of wired headphones every minute. the headphone jack and dedicated camera button is enough for me to own one

5x build quality is ok but nothing too great. There was wear on soft plastic backpanel even tho it wasnt even a year old. Had my original moto g with similar backpanel and it still looks great. Also there is some weird squeek in one corner like something is bit loose. Some thermal issues aswell and not too great loudspeaker. And the main issue with 5x is hardware bootloop issue. Still tho best phone i have had this far but thanks to bootloop issue will be last LG. BUT 5x also costs way less. For this sort of money as pixel 2 goes its shit...

It lacks wireless charging, its chipset is nowhere near the iphone's chip, it lacks the AI and AR capabilities the i8, it cant record at 1080p 240fps or 4k 60fps and it feels far cheaper than the iphone 8. San Mattew Google Assistant is way ahead of Siri, so not sure what you mean by AI. On the other hand, this phone provides a clean Google experience. That's what it's selling. The specs are admittedly not great, and it's overpriced, but the experience it offers is worth it. Better than *shudders* TouchWiz and Edge Display. Oh also, I can understand complaining about 1080p240 and the headphone jack, but wireless charging and IP68?? Is it really that difficult to connect a charging cable? And IP67 isn't even that different from IP68. Dual cameras? The only advantage they have over the Pixel is zoom; Pixel's bokeh is better. Let's not forget the Pixel has Google Lens, unlimited storage and stereo speakers. Yes, it's definitely overpriced, but it's not that much worse in terms of features.
I honestly like that the pixel isnt bloatet with features but instead is built on user experience. Sure samsung is more feature rich but after owning some i honestly really dislike the user experience of samsung and i know many that think so too. I reather have a phone with the bare essentials doing better on those essentials that you use everyday than any other phone than a phone like the s8 thats filled with features that im never going to use seriously with a lack of optimization and a bad ux. I think you are a bit to harsh on this phone. Have you ever thought of the design advantages of having this coating? This phone is something you have to use to really apreciate it. So again i think all manufacturers should concentrate more on the optimization of the important features instead of turning their phone into a swiss army knife with gimmicky features that are not optimized. Thats the reason many people buy apple insted of android and i consider this a step in the right direction for android. Now you can call me a google fanboy but i dont really care. It is my own oppinion and wont change any time soon. I also wont reply to insulting comments.
The antenna placement may be a problem for people who sit on their phones, but the rest of it is not that bad. People are obsessed with scratching but forget that glass shatters. Or you can use a case XD The real durability is whether dust and dirt clogs up things or if buttons stop working etc. Bend, scratch and lighter tests won't show this. I mean, the only time you'd ever need a lighter test is if you have a Galaxy Note 7...

I love Androids, Dragons, and Wolves 1219 ux is a subjective thing and its nice that u like the one of samsung but i myself have always avoided samsung for a number of resons: the software is bloatet and touchwiz is horrible in my oppinion. Once i was forced to buy a samsung device because of my school colaborating with samsung and thoughoit the entire time my expreience was horrible and the worst was that samsung after colaving with my school gave a sh*t about warranty service and even in the few cases they did it took literally 3+ months for then to fix. Im glad that samsung is so successful and therefore gets many people to switch to android abut i dislike that the software experience people get is just so bad and unpolished.
I have a pixel 2. But a simple screen protector and cheep case will keep it from scratching. And keep in mind, how many time are you going to be digging at your phone with a razor blade. (Just to make it clear I'm not hating on the channel and I am subscribed :)
Everyting you said is true. While they do censor some stuff in autocomplete (mostly due to the probably innapropiate and criminal results it may have, like 'murder', or 'rape') you can still workaround to access thus information, But yes, they should be completely transparent with their information, they're the source of research for 90% of people with access to the internet. Just because they have it doesn't mean it's true. However, an observation: I'm pretty sure murdering anyone that works for Google (thousands) is WAY worse than Google's censorship.
The camera is being touted as one of the best ever on a phone, using new software and hardware designs to make it so it doesn't NEED two lenses. No expandable storage isn't an issue when Google offers unlimited cloud photo storage to Pixel 2 owners. Headphone jack... well, that's harder to defend. Water resistance is not as practically needed for a lot of users (I've had a Note 5 for the past few years with no resistance at all and I've been just fine) and wireless charging, while a cool feature, still isn't up to par with the charging speeds of a cable. So no, since you wanted to know if I cared about a perceived lack of features, I don't care at all! Still, great content!

Funny thing is, my iPhone 8 plus sounds better through the adapter than my pixels 3.5 mm jack. And wireless charging? Convenient, but completely unnecessary. You know what doesn’t fix bad software? Wireless charging and headphone jacks - looking at you Samsung and LG.

It has an headphone jack and a camera with settings you can actually use. The pixel is basically on par with my 2013 original Xperia Z if it was running Oreo.
Pure Android, superb camera, water resistance, small form factor (subjective, I like it) and far less price than the iPhone X (since we're comparing flagships). I'd go for this anyday. My 6 plus has slowed to a crawl :(

Nice video sir, the flex test concerns me somewhat. The scratch test doesn't affect me so much since I "insure" my phones with a case anyway but good to know for those going commando. Sure seems to be a lot of hate going on for this phone right now. As an owner of one I have to say it is fantastic so far, battery life, responsiveness, by far best camera on a phone I've ever used. The screen to size ratio is very pleasing to me, I actually like to have some bezel call me crazy. Everything on the phone flies so far and I am eager to see how much better the camera will be once Google turns on their own chip on this baby. To all of you on the fence because of the people out there picking on things that bother them personally (many times without ever trying it themselves, some call that envy), I'd say give it a chance for yourself. Don't buy into other people's opinions about what you should or shouldn't like in life.

Lance Stinson The Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL are manufactured by different companies, as Google doesn't make hardware. The regular sized version is produced by HTC, and the XL by LG.
Also, Samsung provides the display for the Pixel 2 and LG for the XL. I repair devices for Google and LG is one of the reasons why the XL is having issues.

Layth Alkhaer Haven't used a headphone jack in years, the bezels on the XL are very small for a phone with squeezable sides and front facing stereo speakers, I wouldn't use wireless charging when fast charging is available, and there's plenty of memory.

To be practical, IP67 and IP68 are not very much different at all. It's not water proof, meaning whether you take it in 1m(ip67) depth or 1.5m(ip68) depth water, chances are it may not survive in either case.

Some test & reviewers are relevant and some are dumb, like who is going to burn their phone screen, etc. Antenna lines appear to be badly placed allowing a slight bending on one side but he doesn't verify if only the plastic coating cracked or did the metal underneath also break. Then says it may allow water in but no test is done for that.

Headphones jacks aren't going wireless when nearly all Laptops and computers still use them. The world will go completely wireless in 10 years at most, if ever. The headphone jack isn't obselete when it's better than wireless imo.
All laptops have bluetooth and you're more likely to listen to music on your phone then a laptop. Get a set of wireless headphones and you'll never look back.
I personally use wireless headphones on my computer, because then I can move around my room freely (even though I still go wired when doing serious music listening and not just using it as background, watching youtube or something like that). But I honestly don't see the point in removing the headphone jack.
Going wireless is supposed to remove physical restraints, just like cellphones did some decades ago. But if your phone is always in your pocket, you don't need to worry about the length of the cable connecting your earbuds to the device. There's no advantage to carrying around a little heavier pair of earbuds and a case, along with the fact that you'd have to worry about the batteries on two devices instead of just one.
I appreciate the fact that he points out the lack of the headphone jack every time. Not only because it's now become a major selling point for many people, but also because he usually follows it up with a witty joke.

Just some things to show how perspective works.
1. People were whining about iPhones "copying Android progress years later" since multitasking. It took Apple about 1 year to add this feature to iPhone after Android. And look at it now: a top grade iPhone from 2017 feels great on 2 gigs of RAM, while an Android phone's bare minimum is 4 Gb, or much better 6 Gb. My old iPhone 4 with 0,5 Gb of RAM never loses a notification from 5-7 messengers, while my Android phone with 3 Gb constantly closes applications. Why? Because Apple took their time to make it right, and they compress all the background process 10x-20x times, always freeing up the memory, while Android keeps the whole 100% memory cargo of an application even in 2017. Now, do you still feel superior in the fact that Android did multitasking first (and so fast that can't make it right for 10 years)?
2. Wireless charging is a useless feature, counting it is almost like counting removing the 3.5mm jack as a feature. And "2 cameras" is a contradictory subject as well, you can do portrait mode without adding a second module. The only useful thing it does is allow for 2x zoom in some. In other cases adding one big light-friendly top-grade module AND good software is better for the image, than taking space from the main module to add the second little gimmick and hurting its quality. Pixel 2 just proved it. But marketing loves "progress", and 2 cameras is 2 times as much, so hey, progress, whee!
2. Speaking about progress. Pixel 2 is by far not the most durable or most canonical Android phone. It never was. What it was is a fresh phone with actual new useful features and the best camera in the world. While every other phone stagnated between copying trends like 2 cameras and trying to look as premium as possible, Google added: portrait mode with 1 camera, recognizing songs on the go, fresh design and look, etc. It's not the king of Android, it's the king of innovation and feature quality progress.
Looks like zack changed my mind from buying a pixel. I am a hardware guy too and I need well built phone.

I have the Pixel and it still runs like new after a year of having it. So spec wise it's pretty good. I had the phone with a case for a month and dropped it many times during that month and it didn't scratch or crack, also no color was absorbed from my jeans. Although I would still recommend a case as it doesn't feel all that sturdy. But without a case the phone feels so nice so idk.
Pixel 2 XL NEXT :D.. Also small note... The Pixel 2 has an AMOLED display, the XL is P-OLED.

5x build quality is ok but nothing too great. There was wear on soft plastic backpanel even tho it wasnt even a year old. Had my original moto g with similar backpanel and it still looks great. Also there is some weird squeek in one corner like something is bit loose. Some thermal issues aswell and not too great loudspeaker. And the main issue with 5x is hardware bootloop issue. Still tho best phone i have had this far but thanks to bootloop issue will be last LG.
BUT 5x also costs way less. For this sort of money as pixel 2 goes its shit...

I honestly like that the pixel isnt bloatet with features but instead is built on user experience. Sure samsung is more feature rich but after owning some i honestly really dislike the user experience of samsung and i know many that think so too. I reather have a phone with the bare essentials doing better on those essentials that you use everyday than any other phone than a phone like the s8 thats filled with features that im never going to use seriously with a lack of optimization and a bad ux. I think you are a bit to harsh on this phone. Have you ever thought of the design advantages of having this coating? This phone is something you have to use to really apreciate it. So again i think all manufacturers should concentrate more on the optimization of the important features instead of turning their phone into a swiss army knife with gimmicky features that are not optimized. Thats the reason many people buy apple insted of android and i consider this a step in the right direction for android. Now you can call me a google fanboy but i dont really care. It is my own oppinion and wont change any time soon. I also wont reply to insulting comments.
The antenna placement may be a problem for people who sit on their phones, but the rest of it is not that bad. People are obsessed with scratching but forget that glass shatters. Or you can use a case XD The real durability is whether dust and dirt clogs up things or if buttons stop working etc. Bend, scratch and lighter tests won't show this. I mean, the only time you'd ever need a lighter test is if you have a Galaxy Note 7...

I love Androids, Dragons, and Wolves 1219 ux is a subjective thing and its nice that u like the one of samsung but i myself have always avoided samsung for a number of resons: the software is bloatet and touchwiz is horrible in my oppinion. Once i was forced to buy a samsung device because of my school colaborating with samsung and thoughoit the entire time my expreience was horrible and the worst was that samsung after colaving with my school gave a sh*t about warranty service and even in the few cases they did it took literally 3+ months for then to fix. Im glad that samsung is so successful and therefore gets many people to switch to android abut i dislike that the software experience people get is just so bad and unpolished.

Everyting you said is true.
While they do censor some stuff in autocomplete (mostly due to the probably innapropiate and criminal results it may have, like 'murder', or 'rape') you can still workaround to access thus information, But yes, they should be completely transparent with their information, they're the source of research for 90% of people with access to the internet. Just because they have it doesn't mean it's true.
However, an observation:
I'm pretty sure murdering anyone that works for Google (thousands) is WAY worse than Google's censorship.

Does the pixel 2 XL bend the same way?
The camera is being touted as one of the best ever on a phone, using new software and hardware designs to make it so it doesn't NEED two lenses. No expandable storage isn't an issue when Google offers unlimited cloud photo storage to Pixel 2 owners. Headphone jack... well, that's harder to defend. Water resistance is not as practically needed for a lot of users (I've had a Note 5 for the past few years with no resistance at all and I've been just fine) and wireless charging, while a cool feature, still isn't up to par with the charging speeds of a cable. So no, since you wanted to know if I cared about a perceived lack of features, I don't care at all!
