i love the fact that you showed it all and explained it with detail. most youtubers of your category just show you how but never explain why it needs to be done and how it works. Life is way easier with understanding.

Knowing how to use "Safe Mode" is a must for any windows user. Heck, I tend not to have many issues, but the other day I enabled K-Boost through EVGA precision for my GPU.
Basically K-Boost is supposed to lock the clock of your GPU at the max boost/overclocked speed.
Well, little did I know the current Nvidia drivers don't play nicely with K-boost. I enabled it and rebooted my system as instructed... My computer refused to boot into windows. It would just crash.
I ended up having to load up "Safe Mode", and delete my GPU drivers. After that windows booted up fine, and I was able to reinstall my GPU drivers.
It was simple to do, and only took a few min... However, such a issue could be a showstopper leading to my system being a paper weight or a total OS reinstall if I hadn't know better.
The way "Safe Mode" helped my issue was that K-Boost caused my drivers to be unstable. As long as windows attempted to load up my GPU drivers my system was not going to boot into windows. By going into "Safe Mode" and not loading unessential drivers I was able to get around the unstable graphics drivers and get into windows. Once in windows I was able to remove the now faulty drivers allowing my system to properly boot into windows next time around.
**I really enjoy your videos. A lot of it tends to be information I'm aware of, but it's never a bad thing to revisit information and ideas you already knew. Heck, every now and then I find out things I didn't know, or gain a new understanding of things I thought I knew.

This is a great tutorial, but in terms of computer technology is pretty old. Most of it is still perfectly applicable, but one note of caution for people who aren't familiar with computer hardware: Although disk defragmentation is a standard part of maintaining an HDD (hard disk drives), SSDs (solid state drives) do not require disk defragmentation, and it unnecessarily degrades their performance over time.

Best replacement for Task Manager is Process Explorer from Sysinternals (now owned by Microsoft) it's free over at MS and Mike Russinovich still updates it. If you follow his blog and his yearly Case of the Unexplained vids, you'll get an idea how to use the tool. It's really useful a long with Process Monitor.

For example at work going to a network drive on machines was causing a delay for several mins. Looking in Task Manager was showing CPU at 50% and explorer at 50%, nothing more. Process Explorer showed me the same, but then looking at the Threads of Explorer I was able to see one .dll relating to our encryption software running at 50%, stopping that dll running fixed the issue.

    Eli,
I'm having a very hard time booting my Windows 10. It was just shipped out to my new residence. Anyway, the boot will start for about 10 secs or so then it stops and goes no further. The green light stays on. The point is I am trying to boot from a from a USB and I have to change the boot order: as I am not sure that the USB boot order is before the hard drive.
So, is there a way to get to BIOS using a DVD or USB (Hiren's BD)? If I'm at all clear.
I'm trying to make a BD DVD also if I can't make it with a USB.
    Thanks.

am trying to add firewall to windows app, so that external devices can can connect to this app on my computer. I have added rule successfully, with:
    Inbound
application name: my application name into my PC
    other parameters are normally set.
However, when I try to access this app from external devices, it fails. If i changed connection to "All Programs that meets the specified conditions" >> works properly. so, all parameters should be correct, but the issue is into program name, which I am sure it is ok.
    Any advice. Thanks..

My PC will freeze up when running the built in "Troubleshooter", my system consist of a ASRock Motherboard Z97 Extreme6, Intel i7 processor, 32Gigs Ram, "C" drive is a Samsung 950 Pro SSD M.2 Ultra Card - fitted into a flat PCI Express 32GB/s slot (board has 2 of these flat slots), in addition to 5 - 1TB drives for storage and 1 hot swap - 1 TB drive for back up. Also connected are 3 DVD/CD ROMs.
I have unplug all drives & DVD/CD ROMS, only thing run is the SSD M.2 Samsung 950 Pro card. System boots super fast, I have taken the time to plug in one drive at a time and then run the Control Panel>Troubleshooting built in software, it found problems and corrected them for the first 3 - 1TB drives, then I plugged in number 4 & 5 and problems no longer existed. Then I started plugging in my DVD/CD Roms, plugged in the first one and every thing was fine, plugged in the second one and system will lock up completely and give me a constant buzzing noise. I have swapped all three drives around to no avail, lock up continues.
I have even unplugged my HD's and plugged the DVD/CD ROMS into those spots, it didn't make a difference. Troubleshooter still locks up. I have tried every possible combination and when I get to the second DVD/CD ROM being connected the troubleshooter will freeze the system completely. I know all 3 ROMS are working, plugged in at one at a time it will read anything and it will now burn after correcting the error found in Bonjour which is a part of itunes. I simply selected Bonjour and selected repair. Problem fixed. So independently all 3 ROMS are working, but when more then one ROM is connected troubleshooter locks up computer.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS?

You can use Sysinternals Autoruns to view programs that start up automatically from several locations in the Registry, without remembering the exact paths. The program is now published by Microsoft since they took over the independent team Sysinternals. It allows to permanently delete any autoruns as well as services (drivers). The services category should normally be left alone, but you could go over it to find a rogue malware or a CD protection driver which can cause problems. An older version, such as version 8, will support all legacy Windows versions.

Eli, why is the Task Manager so feeble? When my browsers freeze the entire system freezes, and it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to do enough repairs to get the system operating smoothly again. If it's a problem with the CPU, why can't the Task Manager have an emergency reserve of power to enable it to override everything?
    Thank you.

    • @blackwaltz3135

what it does is to compress like it says, but DO NOT compress .exe files which would be unavoidable if you tried to compress the whole of c: its very handy if your create a folder on c: and fill it with other types of file such documents etc, the good thing about compress is you don't have wait for it to decompress, its on the fly
