Is so underated to but as my first game i struggled on,it helped boost my determination with the super sonic part. Just wish you could play super in all stages like sonic generations
Of the 3 games that had their main themes remixed, Endless Possibilities is the most positive one and the fact that they managed to turn it into such a masterful boss theme is incredible. Hell, that's how I'd describe the entire boss theme. No doubt one of my favorite boss themes of all time.
This game is actually one of the best 3D sonic games. People always judge though before they even play the game. Maybe if people had played the game instead of judging then we could of gotten a sequel. The score for this game was lower than 06. People literally hated on this game because of the warehog. I bet they didn’t even try it.
It's a shame that people don't remember Dark Gaia that much compared to some other bosses like the Egg Dragoon. I think it's cause both versions of the fight each excel in their own way. The PS3/360 version is great because while the gameplay isn't that good, it disguises it well with how cinematic it is and that it really has that sense of finality to it, that feeling that this is it, possibly more than any other final boss in the series. The Wii/PS2 version isn't as cinematic but gameplay-wise is designed way better. The Brawl between Dark and Light Gaia and Super Sonic boosting into each of Perfect Dark Gaia's eyes was way more satisfying than the many quick time events of the other fight. If both of these elements were combined into one fight, Dark Gaia would certainly be considered one of the best bosses in the series.
The day stages were better on the Wii/PS2 version. The night stages were more interesting on the Xbox 360/PS3 The first half of Dark Gaia was WAY better on the Wii/PS2 version. The second half (Super Sonic) was more fun on the Xbox 360/PS3 version.
Honestly this boss could've ended the Sonic franchise and I'd be happy. It is climactic as he'll and is just THE final battle any series should end on. Much like Dark Bowser could've been for the Mario franchise.
The thing is, in the Xbox/PS3 version, Quick Time and Input Events are used in most of the night stages in general, and high speed is used in the day stages in general( with some QTAs in the form of yellow dash panels). Not to mention that, for the most part, damage was dealt to bosses with QTAs in night stages and boosting in day. The 360/PS3 fight takes the more consistent elements from the earlier bosses and shoves it into a single, final fight. The ninth and final boss fight, combining the more consistant elements of both the four day stage bosses' fast pace and the four night stage bosses' dealing large damage with quick time events into the Dark Gaia fight. It's a culmination of both dark and light against pure darkness, and a battle to retain that balance world-wide. It speaks volumes, once properly analyzed. The Wii/PS2 version was cool and all, and it was certainly paced a lot more fairly, but the Xbox/PS3 version, in my opinion, is more of the fruit of something built up across the entire game, and something that reflects it in it's gameplay.

Sonic games have always had incredibly epic final boss music, but the "Tomoya Ohtani epic orchestral remixed vocal theme" trilogy of 06, Unleashed, and Colors will always be top tier, IMO.
I think perfect dark gaia is the best final boss Except that part where you can go straight into a boulder in the ps3/xbox version I like a remake of this final boss
I will always put this up there with open you heart, live and learn, and what I’m made of. The orchestra is just too good for a song like this. This and egg dragoon, sega was really on it with the orchestra in this game. Whether is the ps2 or ps3 version the fight still has an amazing finale vibe to it. Unleashed is probably the only sonic game I would love to have remade. Plus I think it’s the only boss to actually make sonic tired after using super sonic. Sonic actually passed out afterwards.
That would be badass. Seeing Gaia Colossus’s Health Bar and then above it, a Heath Bar that says “Hyper Sonic.” Then instead of Boss, it would say “Perfect Dark Gaia.” A Perfected God of Darkness VS God of Light and the fastest thing alive in his strongest form he can achieve fighting to save the world together after a huge adventure of two friends….. a perfect final boss. This would be definitely loved from the start!
The final boss of my favorite game, and my 3rd favorite EVER. Ahead of Hades and N, but below Yami and Zanza. Edit: This isnt my favorite game anymore, its 4th place. My top 3 are Xenoblade Chronicles 1/2, and Fire Emblem Three Houses.
This song hits me with a nostalgia blast. Not only i played this game when i was younger, but this theme still hits harder than most songs i’ve listened to.

Best 3D Sonic game and best Sonic soundtrack. 10/10.
This a reminder that this is a fight against a Lovecraftian darkness god, in the center of the earth, in super form, with a light god piloting a mech sized golem made out of temples.
I have yet to see this be topped, in any other game the series, and I'm waiting for it with open arms.
A giant monster, with no interesting personality or lore behind it.
Not that hard to top actually.
I wish I'd played this game 10 years earlier, it's so good
As they say, when the main theme of the game starts playing on the final boss, things get hype.
Sonic games in the beggining:
Beat the big bad fat scientist
Sonic Games in the 2000's:
Eggman just summoned Cthulhu, go destroy him
why is this right
Sonic Games in 2020's
Lets kill gods and dark gaia level titans
Benson: “Mordecai, Rigby, I need you guys to set up the chairs.”

I don't care what anyone says. This was not only the best Sonic game, but it also had the best final boss in the series, in my opinion. Yes, the game has its flaws, but I love it to pieces. My 2nd favourite game of all time.

The sound effect when Super Sonic hits Dark Gaia's Shields and charges at him with the QTE is so hype and perfect.
Back when Sonic had out of this world boss design and didn't turn Eggman into a clown.
When the game you're installing is at 99%
Always remember making it to this part for the first time at 3am after the long struggle with Eggmanland and man this music hit like a ton of bricks. The feeling I got when I finally did manage to beat the game was incredible.
Man I could listen to this for years maybe even centuries and I’ll never get bored of it!!! Love the final battle of Perfect Dark Gaia

Ps3/x360 players have nightmares of the quicktime events

If you ask me this is the best final boss theme of all time.
Heard Epic Legendary Final Battle Music Once, Remembered For Life!
Imagine this:
You and your friends, both from the real and animated world, teaming up to face the embodiment of destruction with the power of the Ancients on your side.
That'd be cool.
That's literally the Sonic Frontiers final boss. You predicted the future. They even made a race called the Ancients.
They should’ve used this track in the Sonic movie.
Perhaps they'll use this in later sequels if there's a bigger threat in the Sonic Movieverse.
Omg that would be amazing
Movie sonic doesn't deserve music this epic lol
Nah, that Alvin and the Chipmunk rehash doesn't deserve this song.
Sonic games have always had incredibly epic final boss music, but the "Tomoya Ohtani epic orchestral remixed vocal theme" trilogy of 06, Unleashed, and Colors will always be top tier, IMO.
Colors Ultimate showed that he sucks ass at using only synths though
I think perfect dark gaia is the best final boss
Except that part where you can go straight into a boulder in the ps3/xbox version
I like a remake of this final boss
Playing on the wii it was more or less easy to dodge most of the rocks but the second to last eye always gave me trouble.

I swear i can here bits of Reach For The Stars Tonight in this.
Sonic actually passed out afterwards.
yes
Still can not believe that bowling for soup made endless possibilities. My word.
Yeah I love this music. It’s my favorite song in this whole game believe it or not.
With the coronavirus being a new severely terrible situation, endless possibilities would be one of the the perfect ost’s to turn to
I wish we could do this boss with hyper Sonic.
That would be badass. Seeing Gaia Colossus’s Health Bar and then above it, a Heath Bar that says “Hyper Sonic.” Then instead of Boss, it would say “Perfect Dark Gaia.”
A Perfected God of Darkness VS God of Light and the fastest thing alive in his strongest form he can achieve fighting to save the world together after a huge adventure of two friends….. a perfect final boss. This would be definitely loved from the start!
