Thanks for the video. I just bought a Wellcraft with a Volvo Penta SX Cobra and a 3.0 Volvo motor. I put it into the water today and it was leaking down at those bottom two bolts. I knew someone replaced the motor before I got it and they must have forgotten to tighten those. Was trying to see what was down there and found your video. Thank you.
brianj12381 thanks for your comments. The short answer is the motor has to be removed. If the transom is rotten, that’s about $2,000. Best case it is the exhaust collector seal, which is about $20. The motor is removed in either case. If you need a video on how to tell if your transom is rotten let me know.
@@michaelromer2016 Yep, I have a feeling a transom rebuild is in my future so I'll be watching through your playlist again. I'd like to get one run on the water so that I can fix anything else I find all at the same time. Didn't get past the end of the dock on attempt 1. I tightened the bolts but I suspect that will only slow the leak down. When I say they were loose I mean that metal plate at the bottom could be wiggled. Bilge pump decided not to work today too so one more thing on the list.
@@brianj12381 Your description was exactly what is happening to me. It slowed down a little by tightening the bolts. What did it end up being on your end? Did you get it resolved?
I had an under water strike recently and I believe my leak is at that y pipe. Is it possible to remove or tighten those four bolts without pulling the engine
If you have a V8 you will have a lot of trouble getting to it. You likely had a questionable transom and it’s cracked. Sorry for the news. Please subscribe!
Video won’t load Can’t remember was it 25 foot pounds torque spec. And another way you can tell me the order . I have Mine all snuggled up Just need to do that last bit so I can drop the engine video will not load
