Love this one the most. From character to setting to texture of alien eggs, all are very good tribute to the original Alien movies but with very original variations.
This short film was very well done. Cinema quality. The acting portrayals were great as well as the suspenseful ambience of the fictional environment in which the movie takes place.👍
That short had me hooked. I remember going to see the original when it first came out as a small child. I'd pay to see a full length version of this idea. Def an original idea and plot. 2 thumbs up! This is prob my 20th time rewatching it
Great short film! I saw the original movie back when I was about 4 or 5 years old. Gave me night mares for years. But it also gave me a love of this genre of films and stories.
Dude! Top notch! I wish this was a full 2 hour movie I would pay to see it in theaters. This is awesome. The actors were spot on and the details were perfect. This is honestly fantastic, I would love to see more.
So you take no issue with the eggs having been laid in a spot no alien queen would actually be able to get to? Or the miners seemingly digging these tunnels by hand like 18th/19th century prospectors?
@@TheJollyKraut Honestly no I don't. Reason being eggs can be moved. Perhaps they were placed there by a Xeno Drone or by WY themselves to see what happens. Though the story line doesn't seem to support the later of those two ideas but point is a number of things could have happened. As for the minors of 18th/19th century prospectors eh easily overlooked. Why? Because, the company is cheap? Because the higher tech doesn't work in that environment. High tech could be massively over priced or takes a long time to get to them, so the mine owner went old school. Again a number of things could be why. Also the film was set in the 80s with 80s tech it fits the timeline. Even though they had space tech it was 80s space tech. So yeah I have no issues with this. Even though their is better tech for mining now days doesn't mean everyone has access to it. Heck right now some people don't have cellphones still let alone landline phones. It really depends on alot of things.
@F. J. Hmmm, have you ever heard the saying, "One man's garbage is another's treasure." I think that fits this moment. You have your opinion, and I have mine. Titles and big names don't make me watch or like something. The content does. I like alien, supernatural, monster movies. When one is terrible, I will say so. This was not. it's a classic horror monster movie set up with good acting. The only downfall I have with it is that it's too short. I would love to see more of the story. For the future, some advice words hold power, power to harm, and make someone feel worthless. To destroy dreams. When giving criticism, say what you don't like but admit to decent parts as well. Simply saying something is garbage helps no one. Another way of saying nicely you don't like something is "not to my liking but to each their own" Just a suggestion, I can't change your mind, I've said my peace, and you have a good day/night.
I definitely loved this one more than containment! Everything in this short went right from the casting all the way to the post production team. The VFX were flawless, the visual story telling was impeccable! I would rate this one a 9/10. Its missing the last point because it wasn't long enough lol.
Definitely a well-made short film! Acing was decent, sets and costumes were great, and the lighting was genuinely creepy. And one thing that was nailed was mostly how you showed the alien itself. It was always in shadows and most of what we saw was fleeting moments, like when they were running away and one person tried to fight it with an axe. I do like how you showed the alien being hurt without having to light the thing; just a shriek, someone saying "I got it", and then the fallen axe with the melted blade. Excellent use of showing just enough. One problem I have with these modern Alien films is that it seems like the film makers just want to put the xenomorphs front and center in full lighting and no subtlety. Like "Hey guys! Look at the alien! Remember the alien! You all like the alien, right?!" Like they think they cannot be scary anymore. That is simply not true, and this film proved it. Now I admit that I wasn't really scared, but it did have me tense and worried. That's where I think an Alien horror film shines and needs to shine; tension for characters we like. Which leads me into the part where I do have some criticisms. One of them being the characters. Now the main lady? She was great and I was definitely with her for her motivation to not let this thing out! Very brave and I was rooting for her. The other characters...well they didn't get time to really develop, which is a shame considering that right at the end, I was all in for a brutal little rumble with the beast! Seriously, the moment that she was standing there facing against the alien and then the rest of her crew came with makeshift weapons of their own...standing shoulder to shoulder against the unknown...that gave me goosebumps and I was excited! But I just blame that on just how short this film is. At a total of 10 minutes including credits...that's not a lot of time for character development while still delivering a satisfying Alien movie. This definitely needed more time, more money, or more something to cook properly into something truly amazing! The other thing I was not fully sold on was the CGI...at least I think that was a CGI alien. It looked a little stiff and unnatural. Now if it wasn't CGI and was indeed a suit, then I apologize. But yeah, that was...not the best in my opinion. But for what it was, it wasn't bad and it didn't take me out of the movie. Just a little nitpick that I'm sure with more time and/or money, could have been polished and done amazing. So yeah...BIG thumbs up to this, with the only real problem I had being just how short it was.
Thanks for watching! And for this great review. 10mins is definitely too short. In our minds, there's so much more story at Bowen's Landing with all the characters. But it was super fun to play with this snippet of time anyhow!
In space no one can hear you scream. On a mining colony, only the emptiness of the mines can hear the sole survivor of a Xeno infestation scream. How terrifying this particular type of storytelling is. Kudos to the team who flawlessly put this together. Short fan based films seem to have the lore, horror, gore and special effects down pac to the tiniest detail, sometimes even surpassing what Hollywood can create. Very excellently done! I am patiently awaiting the arrival of Alien Romulus, hoping it lives up to the standards of its predecessors which this short is clearly indicative of.
@ALIEN ANTHOLOGY - This short film is awesome! More please and with a longer duration, that really digs into the storyline including the fear factor... I really enjoyed the characters and the overall quality of production, acting and special effects of this little gem!
Ohhh hell yes. Thats how you make people become action heroes. I was almost cheering at the end. Or was i just fanboying? It just felt substantial and not hollywoodish

Congrats to the filmmakers and the crew! Fantastic use of budget to make a great story. Love how in a couple of well-written scenes you made us care about the whole cast, and how you framed the creature. Great writing trumps ok budget every time. Thank you!!! p.s. the alien story has such bit pregnancy and violence on women undertones that it's a bit shocking that the moveis haven't been given to women to direct yet.
I have to comment on how little gore is really shown on screen. We see the result of the chestburster, without the long and drawn-out death scene. Mad respect to the characters for their last stand
How is it better than any Alien films? It’s the same as ALL Alien films. Alien: an android working for the company; Aliens: a woman takes charge and grabs a weapon; Alien3. : a bunch of workers trapped in a labyrinth of corridors. It’s the same situations with different actors. And no Alien, just flash frames and lots of screaming. And feminist garbage on top of all that - all women in charge, and the men timidly follow.
@@aliensoup2420 Aliens: a woman takes charge and grabs a weapon. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you speak the truth. But we talkin about it in a directing way.... like direction

Been a fan of Alien since I saw it in a theater back in 1979....this was fantastic....I love seeing new scenarios and new characters take on the challenge...
Love this one the most. From character to setting to texture of alien eggs, all are very good tribute to the original Alien movies but with very original variations.
OK this is very good in all aspects of writing, and 80's CGI, as defined below a "gritty" look", you lot are "true fans"
Great everyone who was apart of this🤝
I love all the alien movies Ripley is the goat enough said greetings from Australia 🦘
This is prob my 20th time rewatching it
yeah was real good excited for the upcoming tv series
@@Steelcry Just goes to show that you can sell pretty much any garbage as long as you slap a big name to it.
@F. J. Hmmm, have you ever heard the saying, "One man's garbage is another's treasure."
I think that fits this moment.
Another way of saying nicely you don't like something is "not to my liking but to each their own"
Just a suggestion, I can't change your mind, I've said my peace, and you have a good day/night.
Very enjoyable, well made short movie. Would love to see a full length movie or series. Mikela Jay was excellent.
You have. Three times.
I definitely loved this one more than containment! Everything in this short went right from the casting all the way to the post production team. The VFX were flawless, the visual story telling was impeccable! I would rate this one a 9/10. Its missing the last point because it wasn't long enough lol.
Awesome movie! Very professionally done. Great story, great ending!
Thank you! We loved it too.
I agree. Well done all around. You don't always need big name actors to make big scenes!
I love aliens movie and I love this one.
That was awesome!
Seeing the miner with the Aspen Beer t-shirt was a thoughtful touch.
Bravo! Congratulations!
Actually a brilliantly made short!
Thanks so much!
A year later, this is recommended....I liked it a lot.
Same here. I’m looking at the posted date and wondering why am I just now seeing this.
This is easily one of the best of these shorts.
Incredible screenplay and cast. Thanks for that great clip!
I love all these Alien shorts! I wish all of them could become movies!
the details and ambiance of this short film is superb...just wow
BRAVO!!! I would totally watch 2 hours of this! 10/10
Great job! The whole colony story before Aliens needs to be done like this.
Very well done, the orignal was so good that it just can't be resisted! You did a masterpiece short here!👍👍
@ALIEN ANTHOLOGY - This short film is awesome! More please and with a longer duration, that really digs into the storyline including the fear factor... I really enjoyed the characters and the overall quality of production, acting and special effects of this little gem!
Great production value, editing, lighting, scene, and cinematography. The behind the scenes and support staff really came through.
We had a super awesome crew!
Ohhh hell yes. Thats how you make people become action heroes. I was almost cheering at the end. Or was i just fanboying?
It just felt substantial and not hollywoodish
Rdtcsxg
I dunno man, i would have left the chick right there. I get its a short film so u dont have time to develope characters but this sudden bravery came off as stupidity rather :D
this was freaking phenomenal! Well done is an understatement. we need more!
Glad you liked it!
WOW! So impressive, so much subtle attention to detail.
BEST ONE! Great script! Great visuals. Great achting, especially the leading lady!!!
This was a good short film, that being said it's MUCH HARDER to make a full length movie.
@egil kake yes
Ya ima geologist and have worked in mines. This is pretty accurate. Also well written characters. Good job. Best alien short I’ve seen. And most are pretty good. Don’t think platinum is mined underground though. Oh, it’s an alien planet maybe geology is quite different there. Anyway great short.
Absolutely loving these brilliant shorts ❤️
This is my favorite of the shorts I've watched so far. The Alien FX in this film looks better than most of the recent movies.
Tara Pratt (Hanks) is doing a great job, love it.
They are all good, what a great project and feels very "Alien" like, great job guys !
They need to make this into a full length Movie
Instead we get shite like Alien: Romulus. That trailer looks gawd awful.
It's almost like the execs & producers watch these fan films to learn what works & what fans actually want......and then they do the exact opposite.
@@polarfroge yet you all flock to the cinema to see it. every time. almost as if execs & producers already know.. and produce exactly the right kind of garbage to make it happen.
Very nice. I makes me happy to see the old heritage still lives on.
Lorraine was a total badass! 😎
damn, i forgot that this was a short film! I had already felt a connection with the main female mine worker and the film just ended!
Same here
This is better than the newer alien films
Definitely isn’t.
I didnt see it yet. BUT i already know you are 150% right. Let the covenant haters cry in shame for Ridleys abominations....
Why can’t people just appreciate these short films for what it is instead of comparing it to the big budget movies.
It comes to something when a 10 minute short story done on a budget and posted on UA-cam is more entertaining and scary than the multi million dollar films coming out of so called professional studios..... Thoroughly enjoyed it - Well Done all involved.
This is the kind of stuff that could make it to a Hulu series!!
