My Projects Story

I started this project back in June 2020 when Sydney went into COVID Lockdown. It was an on/off affair as I was clueless what to do story wise.
Filmed all by myself, at home in my tiny apartment on my Panasonic G7, a green screen, a few lights, props, free sounds/backgrounds/3D assets, using Audacity, Cinema4D and After Effects.
When I started my journey as a Filmmaker, I followed my early childhood inspirations: James Cameron, Stephen Spielberg, Akira Kurozawa, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott, Michael Mann, John Carpenter, Paul Verhoven, Guilermo Del Toro and John McTiernan just to name a few. (There are to many to mention)
As of late what has really influenced my style of filmwork has been the 1940s/1950s Noir and the use of Chiaroscuro, my biggest influence of them all was the great Orson Welles.
This was such a giant undertaking for me that I wondered if I would ever finish it. It started small and simple, then ended up big, complicated and exhausting. At one point there was no end in sight and I felt lost.
But eventually I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and was relieved, somewhat proud and I'm already moving on to my next film projects.
I wanted to test myself as a Filmmaker and Storyteller, with very limited resources, locations, literally zero budget and manpower.
I have allot to improve upon and show. I am constantly learning. I hope you enjoy my little film :)

There not dead,. Well the little girl is. Hicks not so much. Of course I'm going by comics and novels. Whoms official cannon seems to change instead of staying constant.
Alien 3 was an abomination. I was invited to watch a screening on the Fox Studios lot a full year before the film was released to the public. The audience universally hated it. The final cut was very close to what we watched. When they killed off Hicks and Newt the audience gasped. They did this for no other reason but to accommodate the uncreative, narrow scope of a terrible script. They should have had Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop fight xenomorphs and Weyland Yutani here on earth. On possible sequel they had in mind would have involved just that on an island off Florida or some such with Hicks calling up some Marine buddies and Bishop helping to get some droid soldiers too. It could have been awesome.
Alien 3 sucked more than a giant sucking thing.
I love that ending with Newt and her adopted family. Basically what we all hoped, that Alien 3 didn't exist!

It’s a little sad seeing those pics of Ripley, Newt and Hicks and the life they could (should?) have had. Ripley is such a tragic character at the end of Alien 3.

I dont consider Alien3 as a movie in canon. Like to thinking about it as Ripleys dream or just as a stand alone movie, not in connection with the Alien and Aliens, even though we see Bishop and Newt on the screen.

Also the "Gayane Ballet Suite (Adagio)" from "2001: a Space Odyssey" (1968). Possibly it was also used in "Alien".

I've been an Alien fan since the 1979 original film's release. I've seen alot of fanfilms but I have to say this is one of the best. The integration of original soundtrack music, the imagery and appearance of special effects made it seem like an 'extension' of the feature films. This was a good watch. Bravo on a job well done!

Yes the music was essential that it was the same, so that it felt like an immediate continuation. Look wise I took elements from Alien/Aliens, then added my 'Noir' touch as I'm heavily influenced by those old 1950s films. Thank you!
Man, this is great. It makes me wish they would do a live action of the crew that went to Acheron and disabled the Derelict's beacon between Alien and Aliens.

Amazing work and excellent homage to one of the Greatest Universes ever created. This was so so good, i especially loved the Red Queen and the Home sequence at the end of Ripley and her Family, so well done!

Hi Rollin. I just wanted to let you know I drop in to watch your video from time to time, like now. It's one of my favourites, I pull it up when I'm starving for a proper spooky space story and need a pick-me-up. It stands the test of time... I still can't imagine how you did it all by yourself! The visuals, the atmosphere, everything, I watch it and half an hour is gone in a blink. Thanks for keeping an old sci-fi addict happy my friend!

Watched this on the recommendation of the Unclassified Encounter channel and dam was i impressed, the row of pictures at the end just blew my mind not to mention to tyrell logo on the phone so that explained the androids, i really hope that your planning to continue with this story.

I really appreciate the dark foreboding claustrophobic atmosphere! Good call-back with the alien warning signal. I was wondering why these mercs would send only one of their own into a possible Xeno hive. Terrific twist! Here I thought it was only the newer models that got shafted. It is curious that a face-hugger would try to "impregnate" an android though.
The ending picture montage was a gut-punch. The life of Ellen Ripley, Dwayne Hicks, and Rebecca "Newt" Jorden, that might have been.

Yeah I wanted the thick, heavy, oppressive atmosphere of the first 2 films and take the audience on a journey :) Yes I wanted to like give a origin to that signal :) OH those are not 'Alien' androids but 'Blade Runner' Replicants, so made of flesh (little hint at the end with the phone call, that was the Tyrell corp logo) so hence in the thinking of a big corporation 'why waste 2 scouts? just send one' yes cold hearted :) Yes I wanted to give those Jim Cameron characters justice and 're-align' the series back on track :)
@RollinBoy very well done!!! I loved the surprise ending homage to Ripley, Hicks and Newt on what could have been. Interesting twist to hint that the droids are Blade Runner replicants. You also set things up nicely for a possible sequel.

Yeah I wanted ‘justice’ for those characters, didn’t like how they were killed off screen, even Michael Biehn said ‘at least kill me on screen, it would have been more powerful you know’ as for the blade runner replicants I felt it was very unobtrusive and slight compared to like Aliens vs Predator, I do have a continuation movie script 😉

I actually had to, & wanted to see it a few more times!
And everyone of those times, i was still kept on the edge of my seat!

The opening shot with the flight over the planet was great. The rest is so-so. Apart from the technical shortcomings, it's also unclear what the film is trying to tell us.

Тогда Вэйланд Ютани должны были проверить это и для этого послать кого то, учёных, десантников, каких то случайных людей. А это уже повод для сценария очередного фильма.

Unless I'm missing something in this clip, why would a xenomorph attack an android? They're not flesh-and-blood. As the novelization of ALIENS (by Alan Dean Foster) shows, when Bishop was crawling through the metal tunnel on his way to the transmitter (to remote-pilot the dropship down) it was noted that to the xenomorphs he could be "just another piece of machinery" and "so long as one didn't attack or offer resistance, you might be able to walk freely among them".

I grew up knowing where to ask a girl or guy to go see a movie Friday or Saturday night.
Alien was one of the best movies where popcorn flew everywhere and the screams were real haha. This movie shows that the younger people and the film industry are getting almost halfway to where they probably want to be but what an order they are bravely tasking themselves to attempt to fill. Congratulations, I look forwards to each new SciFi and far out new concept film made to entertain me as that is how I feel as I can only imagine the hours of team work to make each film. What a superb film, probably the best fan film I've ever watched!! You added to the universe logically and awesomely! I'd love this as a full feature length film. I haven't seen clones this badass since star wars too! Like everything from the music score to cinematography was top notch. I can't complain about anything!

I spent allot of time making sure I was lore accurate, then added a little bit of my own ideas that where not to obtrusive to the original Alien universe. Yeah I wanted an 'update in hardware' when it came to the military (its been 30 years since Aliens) I wanted super-soldiers with updated hardware: drones, sleeker more powerful pulse rifles, an 'OWL' drive for the drop-ship etc but still show, as skilled as they may be, they are still vastly outmatched when it came to confronting the Alien.

Really great short story script. Had a lot of themes going on in a short time and loved how the Tyrell corp logo on the phone hinted at the fact the soldiers were replicants and not androids.

I saw aliens back when it came out in the theaters when I was about 12 years old. And I'll never forget it. This is an incredible continuation of that film. I enjoyed it immensely as did one of my good friends. Can't wait to see more from these guys.

This is incredible. I can't begin to express how excellent this looks to me as a stylish and original piece of storytelling. I suppose there's room for polish (like any creative effort), you could tighten up the pacing and feed us more of that intriguing dialogue perhaps, but I suspect you are well aware of these little niggles already. The visuals and sound are especially good, very atmospheric and ominous, and the little details (like the pilot having a thicker beard than the otherwise-identical commandos) are most welcome. There's much more I'd like to say, but right now all I want to do is affirm that your work is fantastic and worth continuing, both to Alien franchise fans and general science fiction enthusiasts alike!

Oh Yeah after I published it there was allot of 'I should have done this, I should have done that' you can literally work on a film forever, but after 2 years, I had enough and wanted to move on to other things. Yeah I am currently enamored with 1950s Noir Cinema so it reflects in my films, nearly all of them, I just love their atmosphere and especially, because its so dark, hides mistakes ;) Yeah I was trying to distinguish each character, from look to voice to acting, even motivation etc Their looks were quite different when I first started, literally cringe worthy lol Thank you for your kind words, I truly tried to make the BEST Aliens Sequel I could and show the world I am a pretty capable Filmmaker, Sci-Fi is only one genre I am interested in, so stay tuned :)

I would've been satisfied with the ending of the 1st film, but that dmn derelict ship harboring death needed to be addressed. Hope in the very near future you become a Great movie director. Perhaps even producing the Final End to this movie series. I'd love to see Ripley & Family Kick Arse on those beasties, & "Blow The F'ers Into Space!" Alas , the hunger for profits will likely keep this thing going on & on much like Star Wars has/is!

Yeah that derelict is like a malignant 'cancer' to the Alien I just learnt 'middle heavens' universe :) it needs to be dealt with, I have allot of crazy ideas for it.. Believe you me.. I would make one HELL of a good film! Even a trilogy (I know Disney likes those) but I also have an idea for a series :)
I would love to become a Director/Filmmaker with an actual crew, a budget and a studio that believed in me.. HOWEVER.. its borderline impossible to enter that industry, its SO SO HARD to enter it, but God willing :)
The scene with the most weight for me was the unmasked synth thumbing the rosary. There's a clear call back to the first scene with the rosary. Upon recalling that scene there is a whole new concept and depth added to the subject/discussion about "belief," and what it means to whom. This is the deepest "Alien," installment I've viewed, and I've viewed 'em all multiples of times. GG RollinBoy. Break a leg, and here's hoping you get paid.☮

I was skeptical at first but I must say well done using the lore so well and incorporating a story that could very easily slip right into the universe that is the "Alien Franchise" It's a challenge to be sure to have created this and even if you didn't land the story so well I would have given you big Kudos for all the effort you put in to make this. I can only imagine what you could have a accomplished with a bigger budget and more time and resources. Please keep up all the excellent work. 10/10 would recommend to friends of the franchise.

All I can say is wow. This by far has been the best fan made short film on Alien. You captured the atmospheric background of Acheron perfectly, the level of feeling ominous right from beginning to end and the derelict still looking as ancient as ever. Best part was the Queen mother laying in wait. I don’t know how you did it but it was incredible. From the sound of her tail awakening to the hiss of her screech, all of course in the pitch of complete darkness. And then she emerges with all her enormosity. Man, excellent job. This is how an Alien film should be done. The only thing missing is Ellen Ripley. Yes at the end you brillantly showed that she is still alive and well, living a life with Dwayne Hicks and Newt. However, I think we die hard fans are eager to see Ellen Ripley suited up and ready for battle. Back in the day when there was a proposed Alien 5 script from Neill Blomkamp I heard rumours of Signorey returning as Ripley but what intrigued me more was the introduction of an older Newt who may have been played by Jennifer Lawrence. Again, that may have been rumour but the potential would have made for some strong and fearless female characters up against the Xenomorph(s). In the game world of Alien, there has been a huge emphasis on her daughter, Amanda Ripley. I think it would be such a great idea for Alien: Isolation to come alive in theatres as a feature film to show us how she evolved in trying to find her mother. So much potential here.

Ironically it was because Neill Blomkamp film never got made, that I ended up making my little film :) I wanted to 're-align' the Alien series back on track with what I had to work with. I wanted a film that shared the DNA of both original films, the Gung-ho action feel of the second film mixed with the unknown isolated horror of the first film. I am working on the script for a full feature film following the end of this short, plus a series that ties into the film 😉
You can definitely work something with the story of Amanda Ripley, i think Creative Assembly did a fantastic job with that game and worked with the lore so well.

The ending, well, I agree with James Cameron on how he was not happy that his characters he lovingly built up in Aliens were killed off off-screen in Alien 3, I would be pretty upset myself, and no offence to David Fincher (Great Director) and crew on Alien 3 (I like Alien 3 as a stand alone, especially the assembly cut) but I wanted to go back and HONOR what Jim Cameron MAY have wanted, so yeah, its a alternate reality so to speak (the other films never happened) OH, they don't live happily ever after, they have lived a beautiful 30 years of peace in sunny Nantucket ;) then... they get a phone call from the Tyrell Corporation (Blade Runner) and that peace is about to get shattered ;)

I would love to see a prequel to Aliens and what happened on thier last mission that turned out to be as Hudson puts it, "A bug hunt." Or of course what everyone else wants and that is a movie about Hadleys Hope before the marines arrive.

Oh Man did I go through allot of wardrobe malfunctions before the final look lol They were all quite different at the start except the pilot, that look was pretty solid from the start. I also wanted a 'update' in military equipment, similar to today's. Less bulky, modular, not drowning their weapons with a whole heap of tactical gizmos :)
Honestly that broke the illusion for me. I own some of that stuff. It could make sense if they were equipped with surplus stuff from the olden days. Maybe could have said they were the third string or something.
Pretty doggone good for a Fan Film. Even the controls and the aft section of the ship. At 11:11, seeing the walls like that, and the cocoon victim, which is still alive, I would've gotten outta there. Because as well armed as I could be, I still only have two eyes. And only in front. Let's do what Ripley suggested, "nuke the entire site from orbit." There's gotta be a mother ship up there. Heh,heh!

Hi again! Another facet of Acheron I admire is the use of darkness as a story element. It's useful for so much more than just filling in for more expansive detail! Many filmmakers forget that the imagination can make what the viewers cannot see far more scary than anything they can, but you didn't make that mistake. My background is in written science fiction rather than the visual medium, but the principle is the same: don't show all your cards at once. Let them imagine what lurks in the dark, and the shadows will be all the more menacing. The tricky part is the reveal, too much menace can turn the payoff into an anti-climax, but I really think you've demonstrated the creativity and restraint to pull it off. (If only I could say the same for myself!)

Yes that is something I call the "JAWS EFFECT' I remember reading Spielberg had so much trouble with 'Bruce" (the robotic shark) had constant malfunctions, so he came up with ideas on how to make up for it, the bait on the jetty that gets pulled under, the barrels scenes, the camera simply creeping up on people etc.. Mine was a play with darkness as I mention to you before I'm in love with Noir Cinema, so it kinda played to my advantage, also sound, I wanted my own MEMORABLE MONSTER REVEAL, example, Jaws has the famous John Williams DOO DOOM... DOO DOOM... Jurassic Park has its Trex stomps, I wanted my lead character to stare into the darkness and suddenly hear PHHHUTUTUTUTUTUTUTUTUTUUUuuuu.... like a giant rattlesnake.. and the audience still sees nothing, like that line in Beowulf, I wanted my own 'I am the teeth in the darkness' :)

Very good! I like your choices regarding frame rate, staying away from dizzying fast edits, and staying away from "gamified" motion. It has a general look and feel of the commercial series. Honestly, you've obviously got a great skillset. Most media is moving away from huge organizations and toward very nimble individual creators and small groups. So, a one-guy operation is a very legitimate.

Yeah I wanted the classic 24 FPS, long stills and slow pulls, tight editing, I have a very strong Noir influence on my films, allot 'anime' stills because I had to rely on my camera not moving. Honestly I could do with an actual budget and an actual crew as this was quite a nightmare to make 😅 but I am proud of it and learnt from it!
Personaly I wouldn't call this a fan film !! .... because the talent effort work and especially detail is way beyond what everyone calls a "fan film" well done 👏
