Salute to our senior minister and ex-PM of Singapore. He is fluent in English and Mandarin. He is knowledgeable of economic, geopolitics, etc.
Singapore younger generation of Chinese must make an effort to study their mother tongue language, Mandarin, besides fluency in English. They would appreciate the Chinese culture and civilisation. To be able to communicate well in Mandarin and English, the Singaporeans would have a great future ahead to trade with China and the rest of the world.
Still want to say thank you MM LKY and SM LHL once and once again. extrodinary leaders, systems make extrodinary singapore
Lee Hsien Loong is Outstanding; approaching the style and perceptiveness of Mr Lee Kuang Yew (his father). I enjoyed the video very much.
Great speech and insights. Open, honest, and diplomatic. Proud to have you as Singapore Leader.
Yes she’s right
Indeed a very diplomatic senior minister..very wise replies!
LHL has a good understanding of US and China and their internal problems and difficulties and concerns.
Singapore has done well in reaping economic benefits trading with China and has steadfastly upheld and safeguarded its national sovereignty and security, positioning itself geopolitically as a force for good to defend and uphold rules-based international order, without being coerced by Chinese economic pie. Well done Singapore. 🇸🇬 👏💪👍
What "economic success"? Can U elaborate & give examples, especially in the light of the dire economic & political systems in PRC.
@@hengbin2974Do you prefer India’s political and economic systems?
What exactly does Singapore have to offer China? All China demands is that Singapore doesn’t choose sides and it is obliging.
India is NOT the issue here.......pls stick to PRC & SGP's involvement in SIP, which to me has been a FAILURE for reasons unforeseen by SGP, even though SGP had to give up control to PRC with SGP holding only 1/3 of the equity from 2/3...............that's just one eg of the propaganda LHL has been spewing about "LONG TERM",,,,,,,,,,,,the SIP experience CLEARLY shows the falsehood of SGP;s investments in PRC from which it cannot extract itself................so dun B/S about LHL incompetence.

The speech is very honest, yet diplomatic.
There is elephant in the room majority can't speak about openly.
Certain race leads the world for centuries, and form an opinion there can never be other race who has the same or even higher talent, dynamic, innovative and competitive thought. Some even thought it is just how the world must be, hence the "unwritten rules based order" comes about.
NEP's Rights® in the room specifically referring to Malaysia. Luckily Quota® didn't explode like in Bangladesh saw Sheikh Hasina on the run to India to take a refuge recently.

Great respect to Senior Minister LHL.
Very diplomatic remarks on some of those insidious municipal officials in Suzhou that gave us immerse problems. Mark of a great Statesman! Now the SM should have more time to help other countries who want to tap on his vast experience.
I have high admiration for Mr. Lee for his sound minded wisdom and vision.
The key is whi decides what is the International Order. Right now it is only the collective west of less than 20 countries decided for the rest of the 194 countries of the world.

I would recommend every person in the countryside to stay if they are happy. One may have less material wealth but can have more natural wealth. And one is close to food which can get scares from time to time as the older generations in China know too well.
Whether one is happy or not is NOT the issue............the ISSUE is why SGP's system has FAILED to prevent such unmitigated DISASTERS which affects everybody esp those over 65 which according to statista numbered 771.24 in 2023 & the relentless increased in COL.
You guys should know China lacks water. Climate change and extreme weather events exacerbated the lack of water in many countries and it will one day become a problem for China. So don’t think you can hide in some village and the problem will go away. The last time I heard the Chinese government made sure that the first tier cities like Shanghai secure their water resources while many small villages were left to fend for themselves with the dwindling water supply. That’s how water allocation will be like in bad times so I hope you will not be naive about thinking that staying in villages is the best option.

Other than that the CCP is doing the right things. The key word is 'restraint' something that CN's large western neighbour and equally large power-in-the making has demonstrated for generation even while being violated by brutish arab armies in pre-contemporary history making it a far more reslient society. Something that CN never had to face.
So, you still thought the PI theft is true notwithstanding the explanation by Prof. Richard Wolff? Or is your God Modi said so?
China needs to do adjustment, likewise, those so-called developed countries need to do adjustment. everyone needs to think that the way of the world runs is subject to some popular values or to the interest of some existed developed countries.

China Work force is 780 millions. What is the concern of reduction of population. China is more concerned of ensuring full employment.

USA is big.. Does USA take responsibility for their actions?? Doesnt look like US does with the US Exceptionism
the sad fact is that although U.S. is powerful, but it is quite far away. And due to the off-shore balance and the big China is so close to the southeastern Asian countries, in the long run, most of them may corporate with U.S. to counter-balance China. In another word, the U.S. exceptionism is based upon a big geopolitical sweet spot.

A lot of China’s issues are self inflicted because they prioritize security and national politics over economic and social growth and reform. While national security and politics are important, economic and social growth and reform remain 硬道理。 Without a strong economy and cohesive society (not through censoring speech and stiffening views, but sensible laws and unbias implementation), China can never become strong. I sincerely hope that China government can rethink and reprioritize their development path - be an inspiring global benevolent power
新加坡的外部环境能和中国一样吗 反华经费花在新加坡身上了 ?
But what choice has China got? Has the environment from the West be less aggressive, China would have double her basic infrastructure twice faster than today. It is obvious, China had no choice but to show that she is capable of defending herself if anyone think war is his option.

GIC/TH hv been known to be UNABLE to extract themselves of their PRC investments for about 2 yrs.....,,,,surely it is because LHL/HC did not foresee such adverse implications of the deteriorating US-PRC relations.........In any case the said US-PRC relations is NOT the only issue........from what I've read it is more due to the Chinese President policies. In any case, what is GIC/TH & MOF doing in the next 10 yrs...............just increase the COL!!!
My thoughts are the encircling of China by the west rest on the issue of she being communist. Decades of geopolitical decisions which rested on the superiority of democratic versus authoritarian states would lose its credibility. Had China been a democratic state, she would face totally different sets of encircling like election interference etc.

What is your objective? Open up your eyes. Singapore also has an influx of India Indians working here under the Ceca agreement with India. Also, many of them have permanent residency and became new citizens. Singapore also has a huge number of Malaysian working here as pmets. This also includes the Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, Blangah workers, and pmets. Singapore welcomes talents from all over the world.
It is not difficult to see what happened when your kind took over. Just look northward, he denounced his ancestors just to keep his family's interests safe. And their national problems which lingered on until today began with him.

Listening to LHL or George Yeo, you can tell this is the hallmark of high quality statesmen , unlike kishore mahbubani who talked nonsense who kept harping about Asian countries's humiliation that made them grow advantagesly, full of rubbish
I disagree with you. I prefer listening to Professor Kishore and Professor Yeo, when speak they don't need to be politically correct, they just speak their minds.
Also there is nothing wrong in speaking about the suffering of the Asian countries and their people at the hands of their Colonizers and Imperialists in the past.

Yeah, one thing I do see the difference is now there are lots of Indians that have taken up the jobs of the local-born Singaporeans.
Either U R in Total Denial or hv been living in Mars..............I've REPEATEDLY mentioned about the epic failures bt LHL and his wife Ho Ching in their epic mismanagement of the C-19 pandemic with negative results still counting & the tens if not hundreds of BILLIONs LOSSES. If these dun constitute "unmitigated disasters" which hv cost thousands of preventable DEATHS, undue sufferings/hardships and billions of waste........eg the USELESS TT-tokens which LHL/HC hv abandoned after wasting over 100 million $, & something I'd opposed from the very beginning,. Why dun U identify yourself & we can debate at a public inquiry into such "unmitigated disasters" which have resulted from LHL & HC's arrogance, incompetence etc?
Trade and reap economic benefits for Singapore by all means but never comprise our principle and value of upholding and defending a rules-based international order.
Agree with you. But who decides the international order? Who sets the rule? Is it still relevant? Who controls? And does those who set it up in the first place follows? Do we want to follow blindly?
@@ongdavid4896 Oh, so you’re wondering who gets to be the international referee, huh? It’s like having a football match where only the referee’s team gets to make the rules-yellow card, red card, and suddenly someone introduces handball just because they feel like it. Classic!
But let’s break it down. The “International Order” is like an unwritten set of house rules for global politics, where the players (countries) agree not to throw food at each other during dinner-unless someone’s being a real pain. Historically, yes, it’s been shaped by a handful of powerful Western countries because, well, they managed to grab the world’s remote control first. It’s like when your cousin has the PlayStation controller and refuses to let you change the game, even though you paid for the pizza.
Now, our friend here is raising a solid point: why do less than 20 countries get to decide the rules for the whole planet? With 194 countries, it’s a bit like having a family reunion where only your stingy uncle and chatty auntie decide the dinner menu. Where’s the input from the rest of the family? What about the vegetarian cousin or the aunt who loves spicy food?
In theory, the international order should be more inclusive, right? But as it stands, the countries holding the biggest economic, military, and political sway-kind of like the oldest kids on the playground-are the ones calling the shots. Yet, just like in every family, the smaller voices are getting louder, asking for their turn to speak up.
So, maybe it’s time for the international order to be a bit more like a buffet where everyone gets a say, and not just the people hogging the dessert station.
@@pgobserver254 Thanks for your great and detailed sharing. Much appreciated. That is preciously why I am asking the person who post the initial comments. To know his stand and point
@@pgobserver254When you have 194 countries setting the rules you will never have consensus. Let’s be realistic. A few countries, probably the more powerful with most resources, will have to lead and set the rules.

People like him and some overseas Chinese, especially from Hong Kong and Singapore who still have the Colonial Mindsets seeped deep into their minds find it fair that we Chinese should always get the shorter end of the stick to please their Colonial masters.
When they are privately among the Chinese they will appear to be more vocal against the Westerners, but in public they will say just the opposite.
It is sad to say that people like them are the one who have held us back in advancing and competing with the Western Imperialists.
Look at how the CCP is handling the 9 dash line issue. That is just a glimpse of what a CCP world order would look like. When DXP came to Singapore to learn and went back to China to establish the SEZ, everyone was happy to see the progress. But now with the power and wealth, the CCP is trying to play punk with various territories. Only goes to show that if the CCP becomes too big it will become an oppressive neighbour. See Tibet and Xinjiang for example
One point to note is also the debt trap that the CCP has offered the 3rd world countries. Lending other poorer countries with huge amount of amount knowing they are unable to repay and also using their Chinese companies/workers to build the infrastructure, and eventually taking over the region or project cuz the other countries won’t be able to settle their debts
Huge amount of money*
