This is my first post ever, have to just shout out a huge thank you! Your videos have given me so much knowledge and confidence...you have also confirmed my suspicions and explained my frustrations in dealing with my contractor and his guys over the years. I now know why I have been so unhappy and why it is time to move on...even if it means just doing the bulk of things myself.

Finally, I can give Jeff a tip. 😂. When opening those type of buckets, it really helps to put your fist in the middle of the top and press down as you pull open the lid with the other hand. Works for me anyway.

If you stop and watch this UA-cam video and take away good information, at least give him a THUMBS UP as a way to say thank you. He's always more than generous with his time for us all! THUMBS UP!!!

Jeff I had the same kind of problems with the ceilings in my house. In some rooms they were sloped, in others they were wavy. It always came down to the crappy hand-cut roof trusses twisting, bowing, and separating from the wall top plates. In the rooms I renovated, I removed all the ceiling drywall (because it had crappy skip-trowel texture), and shimmed the truss bottoms until I got within 1/8" of perfect level from corner to corner. Installed new-construction light cans, slapped on new drywall, and the crown moulding looked picture perfect after. It really paid off, I could never get that aesthetic by cutting corners.

You're right about coverage on new construction. Redid my bathroom. Some tiles were 30% coverage during demo when I popped off the old tile.
