@@chinaman1 yeah, in the near future oddly enough, Omega and Tudor will become the best value for money if Seiko keeps this pace up. GS will follow to I would suspect and this would be a shame.
I get what you're saying, on the other hand no professional wear a tudor as a toolwatch. They will wear a g-shock or something in that range, because mechanical watches are sadly outdated.
My only advice is that you’ll probably regret selling your 30th’s Submariner, since it represents an important turning point of your life as a first grail before your UA-cam career. It’s your watch and your decision, but that’s my two pence.
Love this Tudor... though for me, the 7928 edges it out as one of my grail watches, which your vid on that reference introduced me to. And was lovely to see the Philly waterfront and, in particular, America's most-decorated battleship, the USS New Jersey, behind your shoulder across the Delaware. As a former sailor who served aboard the New Jersey in Lebanon, my invitation is still open to provide you a free tour throughout the entire battleship as only a former crew-member can provide (we're able to go to all the off-limits areas no tourists ever get to see, personally accompanied by one of the battleship's volunteer caretakers, the hardworking docents). Served aboard an Arleigh Burke class destroyer, and I had the privilege of seeing the Iowa as she was towed down to long Beach harbor. Awesome, in the truest sense of the word, not the so cal surfer from the sixty's awesome, but a terrible majesty. I loved my ship, and I'm a small boy guy through and through but, you were truly privileged to have served aboard a ship that is a living symbol of American power at its zenith.
The amount of watch lovers who are waiting for Tudor to make the Tudor Submariner again, and unfortunately I don't think they will any time soon. Tudor has invested far too much money into the Black Bay range.
its not that, imo, but the fact there is a Submariner on the market, made my Rolex. Why would Tudor try to compete it, when they got the BB and the Pelagos out there?
Their big brother would never allow its return. They can't put that name on an 'inferior' timepiece. Even if the average Rolex Sub buyer probably never heard of Tudor. It just can't happen. Besides, Black Bay is still the Sub. Just has its own name and more distinct design attributes to separate it and have an identity. For one, I kind of prefer the look of a coined bezel.
I like the latest Tudor watches. I have a blue face Pelagos, a Pelagos LHD, and a Black Bay Chrono. I was offered the 58, but it wore too small for my bigger wrist. I was also offered the GMT but I have a Rolex GMT Master II BLNR. I just think Tudor want to make some more money from the research and development of the Black Bay range, but I do think Tudor will re-release a Tudor Submariner in the future.
@@notDonaldFagen Thanks for repeating part of what I said. Although I do think Tudor will release a 39 or 40mm sub again once they have got their money from the Black Bay research and development. I think they will release either a 39 or 40mm Sub with Snowflake hands. But it will be a bloody long time yet. They have to stick with the Black Bay for a good while yet.

The video was made all the more special for me, at least, for also briefly featuring the Battleship USS New Jersey (aboard which I once served) at timeframe 17:25. Thank you again for yet another stellar video.

Congratulations on your purchase of a fine watch. As a retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, I thank you for your appreciation of the history of Tudor and the USN. I remember when Tudor was given out to the SEALs in the 70's as standard gear issue. A true classic - enjoy!
Heh. Way back my father gave me a Tudor 79190 submariner. Knowing nothing about watches, my first thought was it was a fake Rolex, lol. Never kept up with the box or papers. I wore it everywhere, doing everything. It is a little banged up, runs fast, and the bracelet is pretty worn, but the lume has faded to an amazing cream color and it is still a great watch.
I have a Rolex 16610, a tudor 79190 and a tudor 76100. After wearing them all I have concluded the 76100 is the best sub for me. Love the bidirectional bezel, high hat plexi and matte dial. At 39mm its extremely comfortable on the wrist and the watch is deadly accurate even though it was made 1985. Its nearest comparable Rolex would be the 1680, but at a fraction of the price the 76100 is a total bargain.
I’m trying to get the exact one for my birth year watch, what’s the series number of this watch to make sure the production year is 1994? And where did you find this watch? Chrono?

That Blancpain looked amazing. Shame you let it go, I would have considered it for the same purpose as your AP dress watch. I too would like to get a BP one day, probably for similar reasons though It would have to be 40mm for me. I have a friend with smaller wrists would be interesting to discuss with him!
A real shame indeed, but I have to admit, it made an Orient Bambino seem like a tank, I have never been so nervous about wearing a watch, I guess the high price tag heightened that feeling too. Anyways, congrats on the Tissot, those are so bloody cool, massssssive regret on selling mine but I had to, it funded my wife's DateJust. I will buy it back one day deffo. I love the video. You really didn't wear your Rolex Sub so often that I wondered if you already sold it. But this video awnsers so many questions. I really love the way you go into detail to explain your choice. One of my favourite videos done by you so far ( and I follow your channel since the early days). Love these Sub videos! I've tried a few Subs myself, but never a Tudor. I'm a big fan of all of them, especially the pre-ceramic ones, just like TGV seems to be. The point I would add to his video is that, if you own a sub, the more expensive and desirable it is, the less fun the ownership experience is. That is, obviously, because you become scared to damage it. The best wearing experience I got from a dive watch is actually from a Seiko SKX on a bracelet. Not the original bracelet, a replacement higher quality one. To me, it offers the experience a Sub would offer had it not been for the high value. You're not scared to scratch the case or the crystal, and it offers better luminescence than probably any Sub except the lastest references. In terms of wearing experience, I can't praise it enough.
Dude your passion for watches is highly contagious. Sooner or later you infect the entier world , leading to a world wide pandemic. For me and my bankaccount its already to late ! Greetings from Germany !

I will continue to do my best and work hard for my family. If I can improve my kids chances for success my work will not be in vain! Keep up the good work kind sir. Learned a lot in your videos.
I agree. As I've only been getting into watches lately, I see getting expensive watches as a choice between putting a roof over my family's head, food on the table, expenses for other things. I don't knock the watches I see these guys on UA-cam getting but I guess they have other priorities.
Looks like TGV is getting paid well from Watchbox, lucky bugger. Love the newly acquired Tudor. He got a cracking good one in this video. I would have the guys at Watchbox aquire the era correct bracelet for it. The only thing that let this watch down a little bit.
@@idokwatcher2062 He didn't get this Tudor from Watchbox, he actually got it off eBay. If I was him I would have waited for Watchbox to get what he wanted.
TGV, if you come back to the races next year, you should come find us in the Jet pits; South Texas Air Racing! Great video here, and I’m looking forward to the Air Race video!
Hi TGV, would like to ask what Harrington jacket is that one at 9:47. Does not seem to be a Baracuta (or is it?) Surprised if you are not sporting one of UKs stable garments ;)
Not at all, your wrist is like mine and you can pull it off. It might take a while to get used to, but it can work. Thank you, happy hunting. Best regards, TGV
Hmm, the Sub I could possibly save for and not look out of place with. I too also like the understated image of Tudor. The only people who would know, are people I'd want to talk to.
Lived in Reno for years , now Statline,NV , The old saying about Reno "Reno is so close to hell you can see Sparks" reference to Sparks , NV. Great review , miss the acrylic crystals a lot.
I used to have one and bought it for $1200...now look what they go for. Oh and mine had the Rolex branded solid link bracelet. Love those tall crystals.
Man Tudor is definitely a brand not too many people know about but should be more known. I want a submariner so much, one day hopefully I will be able to get one. Wonderful video as always, I was wondering earlier today where you went, and what a way to come back.
I think my perfect Submariner is actually the Tudor Pelagos since I have both the Black with the ETA movement and the Blue with the in-house. I prefer the larger size and lumed bezel - not that I would turn down a Subby.
Yeah this, and his bizarre and irrelevant criticism of millenials (especially considering TGV is one) are two blemishes on this otherwise great review.
Great taste in knives! I just re-bought my own Kershaw Leek from when I lost it as a summer camp counselor 6 years ago. A piece of me has definitely returned. Love the videos as always! Keep up the fantastic work TGV!
My first Tudor exactly, bought in 93, mine had a Rolex strap. Sadly had to sell it ten years ago and recently replaced it with a Black bay 58. Though I love the bb now I will have to save up again as my itch isn’t scratched. Thanks
Awesome that you served in the military. What branch? During Vietnam, I was a Marine Corps chopper pilot. Back then, I wore a Glycine. These days I wear a Tudor Black Bay. Semper Fi
Hi TGV “My Sub tells me it’s time for a drink...”.😆 Yeah, that might very well be the ultimate complication for a watch... The growing independence of the Tudor company in terms of identity in the later years has undoubtedly made many people realize how cool the watches really are. I experience that even the watch snobs are less keen in terms of putting the Tudors downand are showing a genuine interest in them. Not thereby said that I really listen to these people. But it kind of shows that Tudor has done the right thing... This takes nothing away from the Rolex company. But why do we always have to choose in such a stigmatizing manner? Make your mind up, buy what you’d like to own. Considerations about price and quality is just part of the process. Have a nice weekend and keep up the good work👍
LOL it totally would!!!! You hit the nail on the head, on the complication and the growing coolness of Tudor, so true. Thank you Kjeld, Best regards, TGV
Well, 2 great uses, firstly and most obviously for basic navigation, second to check if a watch is magnetized. Both extremely useful, I did a video on it. Thank you, Best regards, TGV
Another well done and geographically traveled video. I am glad you made it onto the Moshulu. I makes my heart glad to see the old girl nicely turned out.
My submariner is a Ocean One Steinhart in red and that’s very near looking like the Rolex, but my Tudor Black Bay maroon is now going back on my wrist, and that’s all because of your inspiration and I don’t feel like I am wearing a poor man’s Rolex anymore
Urban. I am lusting after a Rolex Daytona 116500ln, white dial. As you know, that is a tough pursuit to get for retail from a AD (I have one AD in my local city - I am on the "wish" list as of Feb this year). Myself, I never fallen in love with the Subs or the James Bond look. I am not "aquatic" we'll say, though I am motorsports savvy and I love the look and use of Chronos very much. My love of watches came from the Seiko Arnie, the re-issue my first watch purchase in 16 years and I love it! I can wear it to work or while tinkering around in the garage. I have thought of a Patek 5119G-001 (very close to the Drive movie replica), gorgeous dress watch in it's simplicity and style and a watch obtainable for below it's original retail price (rather than double!). HOWEVER; Tudor is a name that I have learned about in the last year or two of really getting into watches and watch searching and the Tudor Black Bay Heritage Chrono S&G has completely caught my eye, esp on the leather strap. I don't normally go for black dials (prefer white or silver), nor two-toned, but there is a majestic collage of color that makes it so appealing. This is a watch that IS in stock (both leather and metal bracelet) at my AD and as soon as they open again (closed due to covid atm) I am going to try on and likely buy. Thoughts?
Love this channel. Honestly. But some constructive advice, how about making shorter episodes? Maybe in additiom to these long ones. Maybe an abridged version.
I wish I knew more about watches in the late 1990s, that was my peak earning period into the early 2000s before this area had a horrible recession. That's a great Tudor you have. I really like it. I can see the appeal of it. I prefer the ETA modes as the service costs can be a lot less since many will know how to work on it rather than the specialist of the newer in house movements. Enjoy the watch. I would love to have one myself.
TGV with the Rugby World Cup just starting in Japan this weekend and Tudor being a principal sponsor. What does it say about both rugby and Tudor that they are being associated with each other?
10 years ago I was buying and selling vintage Tudor subs for under a grand... cheap ETA movements inside, I love modern Tudor watches but it's crazy to me what people pay for the vintage stuff, it's really poor quality.
I'm extremely intrigued to watch this!! Especially after the Rolex review recently! You loved it. On a side note, I'm off to the jewelers tomorrow to try on the Cartier tank on your recommendation TGV!
Really didn't get Tudor or understand the love people had for it. In fact I didn't like them.....until I was finally able to see one and handle it. No I'm a complete Tudor convert and love them. Stunning watch sir. Enjoy and hope you enjoyed the races 🛩️
Thanks for the unboxing TGV! Funny enough, I also got the flu from a long flight back to Canada from Germany, checking out the Glashutte Watch Museum :()
Tudor is now what Rolex was.
Rolex is now luxury watch at those price points and Tudor is the appropriately valued quality tool watch.
...yup, kinda funny how that works. Oddly enough, Seiko is trying to do the upscaling game too.
People should perhaps hoard Tudor and Sinn for future value elevation. They are both managing their brand names admirably.

I agree. As I've only been getting into watches lately, I see getting expensive watches as a choice between putting a roof over my family's head, food on the table, expenses for other things. I don't knock the watches I see these guys on UA-cam getting but I guess they have other priorities.
You tried to change the date at 12:30? Isn't that a bit risky?
Looks like TGV is getting paid well from Watchbox, lucky bugger. Love the newly acquired Tudor. He got a cracking good one in this video. I would have the guys at Watchbox aquire the era correct bracelet for it. The only thing that let this watch down a little bit.
@@idokwatcher2062 He didn't get this Tudor from Watchbox, he actually got it off eBay. If I was him I would have waited for Watchbox to get what he wanted.
@@idokwatcher2062 It has the wrong bracelet.
Isnt there too much patina, especially on the hands, considering the age and the water-resistance? Looks like a lot of humidity got in...
Where did you get that strap?!
@TGV: do you think the Tudor 79190 mini sub 34mm would be too small for my 6 inch wrist?
Not at all, your wrist is like mine and you can pull it off.
It might take a while to get used to, but it can work.
Thank you, happy hunting.
Best regards,
TGV
What is playing on 9:30?
Are those little knives verboten in old blights ?
Hmm, the Sub I could possibly save for and not look out of place with. I too also like the understated image of Tudor. The only people who would know, are people I'd want to talk to.
Lived in Reno for years , now Statline,NV , The old saying about Reno "Reno is so close to hell you can see Sparks" reference to Sparks , NV. Great review , miss the acrylic crystals a lot.
This video convinced me to purchase a 1989 Tudor Submariner reference 79090. I’m eagerly waiting for it to arrive on Tuesday.
Whats TGV's wrist size?
Love the Tudor. Glad you're digging Philly TGV. You're officially a Philly Boy!
I am honored Jack, thank you my friend.
Love this place!
Best regards,
TGV
I used to have one and bought it for $1200...now look what they go for. Oh and mine had the Rolex branded solid link bracelet. Love those tall crystals.
Haven’t watched one of your videos for awhile TGV, it was great to come back. That is a great timepiece, well done, nice one.
Man Tudor is definitely a brand not too many people know about but should be more known. I want a submariner so much, one day hopefully I will be able to get one. Wonderful video as always, I was wondering earlier today where you went, and what a way to come back.
Thank you Captain!
I know you will get it, savor the ride my friend.
That moment of sweetness will come!
Best regards,
TGV
Amazing choice on the Tudor! The Tudor 73090 Mini sub is one of my grails!
Hi TVG
Great video
Interested in the Tudor snowflakes
Looking forward to seeing more of your post
I am about to pull the trigger on a Tudor Submariner myself
I think my perfect Submariner is actually the Tudor Pelagos since I have both the Black with the ETA movement and the Blue with the in-house. I prefer the larger size and lumed bezel - not that I would turn down a Subby.
James Seetoo the Pelagos was my perfect sub until I got the seiko sla021 hehe
What was the pricing on this ? Always wanted a sub but since this is more affordable and has just as much history - this can be an option
Hate to break it to you TGV, but Vietnam wasn't much about protecting freedom.
Ikr
Yeah this, and his bizarre and irrelevant criticism of millenials (especially considering TGV is one) are two blemishes on this otherwise great review.
@@jonathansaraco I can't keep saying ikr, but I was thinking just that too.
@@jonathansaraco as a younger viewer, I too found this disappointing and odd.
Protecting the freedom of South Vietnamese people. Tgv probably knows more about it than far leftist millenials without any knowledge of history.
Great taste in knives!
I just re-bought my own Kershaw Leek from when I lost it as a summer camp counselor 6 years ago. A piece of me has definitely returned.
Love the videos as always! Keep up the fantastic work TGV!
TGV-- Great video! Does the 79090 have an aluminum bezel just like the 75090?
Great question, some 75090 models has stainless steel inserts, but the 79090 all have aluminum,
Thank you Quincy,
Best regards,
TGV
Great video, TGV! My favorite Tudor Sub reference is the 1974 Snowflake Sub 7016/0. Cheers!
Semper Fi
Hey does anyone know if Skagen is a good brand because i am considering buying one of their watches (this would be my first “real watch”)
Can you do a video about TAG Heuer? I don’t see the brand covered a lot and I’m considering getting one. Are they worth the price?
Love your videos TGV, and have supported your channel from the begging just want to say thank you and wish you luck in future 👍
Grazie Michele, that is one of my middle names BTW.
That makes means the world to me. I wish you all the best.
Best regards,

Hi TGV
“My Sub tells me it’s time for a drink...”.😆
Yeah, that might very well be the ultimate complication for a watch...
Thank you Kjeld,
Best regards,
TGV
I’m looking into a 95 Tudor sub. The seller is listing at $3900. It seems to be in fair shape. Anyone know if this is a good price or not?
Congratulations on such a beautiful piece, Tristano! Excellent video as always. Thank you.
What’s the ring? Brand ?
Hello bredren! Little bro always pushes the bar full force to big brother...those little brothers are wild and crazy.Tudor is a beast!
Loved it, TGV! So glad you found the one you wanted! Tipsy TGV is great btw! 😂
What's the story on that little compass in your video? Very cool!
Well, 2 great uses, firstly and most obviously for basic navigation, second to check if a watch is magnetized.
Both extremely useful, I did a video on it.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Another well done and geographically traveled video. I am glad you made it onto the Moshulu. I makes my heart glad to see the old girl nicely turned out.
Thank you Robert.
So happy to hear that. Maybe see you there one day!
Have a great weekend my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
Lovely watch. Have a soft spot for Tudor myself, they're just more tooly & playful than their big brother.
Fun presentation thanks! I have 2 Tudors, the GMT Pepsi & the Black Bay Heritage dateless. Both with in-house 70hr power reserve.
Excellent point about the 90s, me too!!!
Then again, I was far too young to appreciate such things, oh well, better late then never.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Do you have a list of favorite Casio watches? Thanks. If you have a video you can share the link with me.
TGV with the Rugby World Cup just starting in Japan this weekend and Tudor being a principal sponsor. What does it say about both rugby and Tudor that they are being associated with each other?
Best half hour I’ve spent all day. Thanks for the education and inspiration.
Thank you Steve, that made my day hearing that.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
TGV
10 years ago I was buying and selling vintage Tudor subs for under a grand... cheap ETA movements inside, I love modern Tudor watches but it's crazy to me what people pay for the vintage stuff, it's really poor quality.
Is that quality really that bad? I like the look and thought ETA movements were well liked.
I gotta ask why you haven't reviewed the Tudor BB58???
I'm extremely intrigued to watch this!! Especially after the Rolex review recently! You loved it. On a side note, I'm off to the jewelers tomorrow to try on the Cartier tank on your recommendation TGV!
Fantastic to Simon, what a classy choice.
Have fun, enjoy.
Thank you and have a great weekend, but I know you already will.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry thank you! You too!
Very, very nice Tristan, congratulations on your acquisition! Looking forward to seeing more of that lovely Tudor later.
Really didn't get Tudor or understand the love people had for it. In fact I didn't like them.....until I was finally able to see one and handle it. No I'm a complete Tudor convert and love them. Stunning watch sir. Enjoy and hope you enjoyed the races 🛩️
Great video again, TGV. I have been looking at Watchbox for my next purchase as well!
Thanks for the unboxing TGV! Funny enough, I also got the flu from a long flight back to Canada from Germany, checking out the Glashutte Watch Museum :()
Hello T, nice intro as always and also the part until white gloves. Now I will continue watching the main part. Cheers
Thank you, enjoy.
