The red orbs out of bounds are presumably a left over from 100 pin bowling where if you manage to roll your ball along the guard it will hit the orb at the end and give you a guaranteed strike
I'd say you're correct, since they show up in Wii Sports: Resort in the same practice area nd 100 pin bowling section. And if you hit them in the 100 pin bowling, it does the odd quake thing that causes the instant strike.

Matt is a forever legend. Same with wii sports, this game is just so nostalgic and it had such a great feel to it even back then. It was just relaxing and so much fun. BTW I love boundary break, it is so cool seeing all this stuff in all these games.
I always find it weird when something that is a flat menu in a game turns out to be different elements floating around, possibly 3d, and not at all flat.
Fun fact, entire 2D video games worked this way on the PlayStation 1, because it had no 2D rendering hardware at all on board. All it could do graphically is render triangles and texture them in a 3D environment, so to fake 2D, it either renders a rectangle (made of 2 triangles) and textures it with the game output, or each sprite is its own set of 2 triangles.
i feel like wii games, not only wii sports but also wii play, fit... have a special vibe that no game can recreate now. like there is a lot of detail but heavy hardware limitations, so it just feels like you are in a really big but empty world. just look at tennis, or outside matt's gym. it is the same with games like wii play, or wii party with the games that take place outside, the villages with no one but you and the other miis youre with...
I feel like gaming has hit it's peak, just listening to the soundtrack in the background, watching the video showing off the game, remembering how life fulfilling the Wii was... It really cannot be beat. The switch is an awesome bit of kit, but the Wii just cannot be beat. The only thing I think will truly bring back that feeling the Wii gave is to remake it entirely with the exact same games, higher resolution and graphics, but with the option to put the graphics and resolution down to get that full feeling of the early 2000s. Either that, or release Switch Sports, it's a no brainer!
The red orbs in the Power Throw alley are a secret, where if activated (touched) by the bowling ball, an “earthquake” will occur, and all the pins will fall directly from the middle. It’s only possible to reach the orbs on the final stage, but it will presumably have the same outcome if activated on any stage.
