BEST Food in Malaysia - ULTIMATE STREET FOOD TOUR in Penang | George Town
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 вер 2024
- Asam Laksa, Char Koay Teow, Cendol, Ais Tingkap, Pasembur, Wantan Mee and more... I try it all!!! If you don't try street food while visiting George Town (Penang Island, Malaysia), then you haven't been there; it's a must! The Penang cuisine is ranked as one of the best in Asia. Furthermore, Penang, with George Town being the absolute epicentre, has also been voted as the number one culinary destination in 2014 (by Lonely Planet).
Penang food is influenced by several Asian countries, mainly India and China, and therefore, is a mix of traditional Malay, Indian and Chinese dishes with Char Koay Teow and Asam Laksa being the most famous dishes. Asam Laksa has even made it to the World's 50 best foods compiled by CNN travel.
There's more to Penang food than just the eating; the atmosphere contributes to the amazing experience. Watching the food being prepared and cooked amid the bustling streets of the beautiful historical core of George Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site), not to mention the sounds and smells, plays an important role in the experience.
That being said, in this episode, you will be joining me for a full day of eating incredible street food in the food capital of Malaysia. I've also included the cost of each dish/meal to provide you with a somewhat relevant answer to the question: how expensive is Malaysia?ENJOY!
Lastly, George Town is a beautiful city with wonderful people. George Town exceeded my expectations and, as of today, I hold it as one of my all-time favourite destinations for sure.
FYI: this is the fourth episode in English. My English speaking skills are far from flawless so bear with me :) My channel name, "Matvraket", is Swedish for the glutton.

I am happy that you got to Malaysia. A woman from Malaysia helped me a lot when I first embraced Islam back in 1984. Please do not eat pork and drink alcohol. Our Dear God Gave these Orders for us. I ask Dear God humbly to Bless you and your family.🌹🍉🍄🐱🐾🍦🍀🌼🌺🦃🧀🍩🍏🌷🌸🌳🐀🎂🍐💐🍌🌻❤️🌦☘🍆🐚🍁🕌🕌🕌🕌🕌

Dang, my guy is loving that cendol and sweet desert. My dude. Enjoy my friend. Get yourself some roti canai. I think you got the Mark Weins face after tasting something “amazing”. 😅 You’re in Malaysia bro, everything has a lot of calories.
Haha cendol was indeed amazing, especially to cool me down in the heat. i'm home in Sweden now bro. I appreciate your comment

Tack för att du tog dig tid att titta och tack för dina fina ord
superb....
i'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you
Grymt bra video👌❤️😘
Kul att du gillade den
OMG, U need to mix well first whenever u eat cendol. Else the sugar syrup is either on top or bottom that when u sip the drink, it is either too sweet (when u sip the sugar) or too watery (if just the ice shake)
I did mix it, didn't show it though ;) However, I'm the least picky person when it comes to food; I like everything haha :P Thank you for writing a comment
Its more tastier if you eat it in the bowl.
I tried them booth
Wow
thanks!
Best chendol made from sago flour. The best, not many place sell thus.
Oh, were do they sell that kind of cendol? Thank you for writing a comment
Good video
haha so nice that you wrote 3 comments? :P Appreciate it
Be honest -- how many cendols in total did you take in Penang for your whole stay?
Good question... can't remember the exact number but I enjoyed at least 1 every day :P
Singapore’s Laksa is different from the Penang Laksa! Come and try!
Were supposed to be there in March but then u know what happened... thx for the comment!

I appreciate it
Damn you ate more than me and I'm Malaysian xD I can't even finish 1 cup of cendol too much would make me feel like vomiting lol and so glad u enjoyed laksa they're my favorite Malay food eva especially asam laksa
Haha I have a HUGE appetite, that's why my channel name is "Matvraket" which is Swedish for the glutton. However, the eating didn't stop when the episode ended... ;) Thank you for writing a comment
@@thestreetfoodconnoisseur wow I've never see a Swedish eats that much especially Asian food. When I get back to Malaysia after a year I'm gonna eat as much as you do xD
@@kekw5153 Haha totally agree, Swedes usually eats "small". Where are you now? :)
@@thestreetfoodconnoisseur I'm in the home of the cheeses, Holland 😂
@@kekw5153 Haha then we are close! :p
dude...u sit and eat in the open heat on a middle of a sunny day. We malaysian never do that. If u are malaysian, fellow malaysian will say u crazy if u do that. lol
Haha wintertime in Sweden is cold and dark so i'm enjoying the heat and sun to the fullest! Thank you for your comment

@@undisputedGod2512 haha joke as much as you like ;)
Sticky rice.
Appreciate your comment
i dont think georgetown now second largest city. Johor bahru is overtake it as superpower city in malaysia
Maybe you are right... there doesn't seem to be any complete consensus to this. However, as far as I have looked into it (honestly not that far haha), at least the greater metropolitan area of George Town is the second biggest city. This topic needs further investigations for sure. Anyhow, thank you for writing a comment
Malaysian eat the spicy chicken with rice and vegetables and at the most 2 chicken at a time..not a plateful. 😆 Helps keep down the pungency..
Haha! Needed some protein for them gains... joking :p I appreciate your comment
Sour laksa not for me.
Why? :P It was delicious!!
all you eat is food history original from indonesia, except laksa
I don't doubt that... The Penang cuisine is influenced by several Asian countries, however, they clearly have their own take on some dishes. Thank you for writing a comment
I love my Indonesian brothers and sisters, you guys are my peeps but damn, it's amazing how some Indonesian can so brazenly claim the rights to some food that origins were deemed unclear because it is so widespread across Asia (Southeast Asia specifically for most of the foods in this video) for a long time whereas other countries would just share the credit. Just relax dude, saying it all the time won't make it a fact 😂
The origins of foods and recipes... delicate debates for sure. I appreciate your comment
So brave bro....hahaha.....
done claim bro...
Nice video
Appreciate it
