    ive repaired a few of them over the years. take the board out of the box and solder a multi strand wire the same size as your feed to jump the blown/burnt trace

    I have the same unit Actron, I replaced the capacitor about a year ago because it was just blowing warm air and few weeks ago fan motor in the roof gave up not blowing any air at all, just replaced that 5 days ago and it is running perfect now , mind you the unit is about 23 years old and that is the only 2 things I had to do all those years. I am happy with Actron it works well.

      This one is quite old too and it’s only ever had a soft starter and indoor fan motor fail. Sounds similar!

    Have been told SS9s don’t like voltage drop.
    When replacing them now I use bootlace crimps (on all high load terminals)so you get a much better connection in the terminals with that stupid flex cable they send with SS9s.

    Well done Mitch, another happy customer... It reached 40c at my place in the Sthn Highlands on Saturday, and the Daikin split handled it beautifully 👍

    Not Sure if you noticed but those Soft Starters show a fault. LED Indicator on the bottom right will show a blink sequence indicating what the potential fault is. Most of the time its the physical soft starter. Glad to see you put a contactor in tho, they are junk.

    Hmmm, I've been replacing the soft starters. So you just put a contactor in and parallelled the capacitor?

    • @maracservices
      @maracservices  9 місяців тому +1

      Exactly mate, run straight to compressor and start through a capacitor to compressor.
      I’ve always replaced the soft starters as well mate. However I’ve come to the conclusion that they haven’t made the new soft starters any better so I’m over replacing them. Even tech support advised me to get rid of it. I have a wiring diagram on how to change to a contactor. If you ever need it I can send it to you. Cheers

    Great video Mitch.
    Just to confirm, you only used the Run winding and Run cap wiring under the contractor.
    The start winding didn’t get used. Is this correct?

    • @maracservices
      @maracservices  9 місяців тому +2

      Thanks mate.
      So an active goes to the contactor then out of the contactor, an active goes straight to the run winding on the compressor. Then another active goes to a capacitor (80uf) then out of the other side of the capacitor goes to the start winding. Common to neutral.
      Thanks 👍🏻

  • @shuaib8908
    @shuaib8908 9 місяців тому

    I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to have 240 on the start winding the whole time, usually single phase comps use a start relay like a potential relay

    What is the name of the starter you used to replace the Actron soft starter? Where did the starter come from/used for?

    • @maracservices
      @maracservices  7 місяців тому

      I just removed the soft starter and put in a contactor in instead. So it no longer has a soft starter.

    • @AGeurts
      @AGeurts 9 місяців тому +1

      Very simple. Comp Call & Neutral will be your A1 & A2 // Active That feeds the SS will go into the top side of the contactor then loop that across to T2 // Bottom side of the Contactor will be your Start & Run.
