Awesome Fly Brother! Love your patterns, and I'll definitely be twisting some of these up👌 I'm a Tree Specialist here in Colorado so I'll be researching the bug and the right time to use them, and drop a dropper or two behind lol I'm not mutch of a dry fly fisherman, I'm more into nymphing. But I never pass up the opportunity, to go dry dropper with a pattern like this. Awesome work man👍
Fabulous as always. Thanks a lot! Could you re-do a tutorial on Bob Gnarly with close-up shots? Or, it would be great to see a tutorial on your favorite fly-tying tools, such as why you have settled with the bobbin and vise you use now.
Dude, I really dig this fly! I’ll bet it floats like a cork. Curious why you don’t trim the body hackle flush to the bottom and just the front hackle? I’ve noted your Scott rods, now my mouth is watering over your Ari T Hart reels in the background , true works of art. I remember when you could buy them new, but I never did and have been kicking myself since.
Hi Rich, I don't trim the body hackle because it's palmered and I don't think it has as much an effect on the fly sitting upright as the densely wrapped front hackle. You certainly could trim all the hackle flat though, it wouldn't hurt anything. ...and yeah, I do like classic reels, especially Ari T Harts!

Great suggestion on both counts, thanks! I'll do the Bob Gnarly next.
@@andrewgrillosflyfishingfly1517 Thanks so much! Looking forward. Stay safe and well.
Great tie, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Andrew I really enjoy your videos. What time of year can I expect to see this hatch ?
hi David, salmonflies are typically an early-summer bug. June-ish is my safest answer for you.

Andrew Grillos Fly Fishing & Fly Tying you sir, are a man of impeccable taste! Too bad you aren’t guiding anymore, I would look you up.
What kind of foam is the tan that wrapped the body,,,it seemed rather soft, all foam I've bought at Fly Shops is much harder!
hi mark, it's .5mm razor foam, cut in a thin strip
@@andrewgrillosflyfishingfly1517 Razor foam is different than the closed cell foam I have bought from Fly Shops???
