Yeah, that's really cool. A very safe environment for them to try this out and get a better idea of whether they'd like to try voice acting in the future. (Also we know their parents are consummate pros, so it's not like they'd put a kid in there just for the sake of it if they didn't think the kid could actually do the part.)

Critical Role on Ice sounds wild. Imagine - The Mighty Nein on Ice: Eiselcross Just condense the whole last arc into one skating show. I can see it now... spotlights casting eyes everywhere, Essek not actually skating, but on a wire so he floats...
I love cr and I'm as stoked as the next fellow, but I just want to take a moment to acknowledge how good the interviewer was. There were some really good questions asked, and I'm happy they did such a good job.
I love Sam's point of being able to step away from the roll of the dice as the foundation for success and failure and exploring the narrative explanations instead.
The dicerolls already happened and dictated events. Now this is just rationalizing why the dice came up like they did. Much easier than doing it without dice.
It takes a mature player to _decide_ to fail because it's a more interesting or realistic story. In the same way as it takes a mature player to play a week character or one with a big character flaw. Of course the CR team are all mature players but it's not something I'd recommend for most home games.
@@AndrewBlack343 The purpose of the dice is to add tension.. you don't know what'll happen until you take a risk.. and then roll with whatever happened. Rolling dice definitely adds something to a game, it's much harder to play an interesting fight scene without them.

Yeah, really well done. They were interesting for us as an audience and I think were engaging for the crew as well. I’m sure that in the run up to any kind of release like this there are a certain amount of press events one has to do. Some of them were probably aimed more at people totally outside of that world (having to establish: What is D&D? What is Critical Role?). It was great to have questions that could dive a bit deeper. :)

They have never been ready for any of the fame that they have garnered because of CR. Their Kickstarter Q&A has them trying not to be flabbergasted for the first 20 mins, they had a pool going as to when or IF they would get 750k for their Kickstarter.

I am so happy that someone as wonderful as Kay did the interview for these amazing people. Her questiones were so deep and thought-provoking and definitely gave the cast more incentive to be more insightful and more engaged, which severely lacks in a lot of interviews nowadays. I see these dorks on a weekly basis. They are a little like a virtual family of mine. I'm so proud seeing them do the rounds to promote the what is an absolute dream come true for every longstanding rpg party group: A TV-Show depicting the adventures they had at the table.

Beaux doing flips and acrobatic ice dancing, dirty Caleb constantly fondling bat guano as fireballs erupt to keep him warm. Jester and her lollipop are already resistant to cold. Mollymaux’s coat of many colors and Caduceaus in tall grand smooth circles of mushrooms. 🥶🤩 Pumat Sol, and other NP characters coming in.
Just wanted to add some bits (just sharing) that could have been part of answers: - The first question about *tabletop character versus the show* : playing a character on that show must be like an audition, in the sense that you need to have prepared the personality and voice well in advance and be ready to love that character for over 100 sessions! A normal tabletop player can try something one session, realize it's not working so well (role-playing it) and change... - *Social issues* : always, a D&D party, is confronted at the start with people of different backgrounds and races who must work together, as a team, or most probably die tragically. The greenish Half-Orc and the blue-skinned Tiefling (with demon blood! when you think about it), and others, must ignore all prejudices and move as one team. D&D characters are also often confronted with racism. Anyhow, I fully understand that the cast avoids those kinds of answers: it would stir up needless debate. It is more efficient left unsaid or with more vague allusions to inclusion and leaving the real world and multiverse better places. :o)
Mind you, I know changing character is not impossible in CR. ;) But, still, you need to "inhabit" your character in advance much more than your usual tabletop game.
There's campaign 3 spoilers in the questions here. Wish I knew that before. Turns out people who just finished campaign 1 might be interested in an adaptation of it but haven't seen later seasons yet. Unfortunate. Let this be a warning for others like me I guess.
While I am excited about them getting to flex their creativity with mechanics and lore regarding the magic and whatnot, I hope they don't go TOO far from the source material and lore. Part of the excitement about the show is that it's a DnD show and those have always turned out bad and scarcely resembling the game at all. Here is a chance with some incredible people all making something truly magical and a chance to finally do DnD justice in a wider audience of people not ever properly exposed to the hobby.
This is how all adaptations need to be made, collaborations and with fans in the industry! No more absolutely terrible book to movies made by people who don't care about the original content
some good old fashioned sex and violence... also emotional sincerity. we got a little taste from love death and robots. but this reminds me of heavy metal.
