Hi, how can I set up a formatting and style for different part of the word document (for example heading, bold times new roman 28, body text calibry 10, footnote calibry 8, table justied calibry 8 etc) in away when you paste sentences with different font, size, etc, it automatically changes to the default style set for that part of the document and one doesn't have to change it manually?
Hi Simona thank you for this tutorial! Brilliant! Hope you can tell me how to be able to lock the position of a text but that the text is still changeable. I am working on a template that needs to stay in format however, many teachers will translate the document in different languages. So the format always needs to stay the same: font size, font, position of pictures AND position of the text. Do I work best with inserting a text field and fix its position? Or should I create a form? I would really appreciate your input. Thanks a million!!!
Hi Nina! Thanks for watching! So, in answer to your question, what I suggest you try is a combination of the Restrict Editing option, and text content controls. You'll probably have to experiment a bit with your documents, but try this to get you started: 1) Show the Developer Tab, and put the text you DO want people to be able to edit into Rich Text content controls 2) I think it will work best if you use Styles for your formatting - some experimentation will probably be required! 3) Add the pictures etc and any text that you DON'T want people to be able to change just as normal input (so not in content controls). You might need to use tables to help fix the position of things, perhaps? 4) Select the whole document and choose Group on the Developer Tab (this step ensures that the position of pictures etc can't be moved) 5) Click Restrict Editing and tick the first check box under Formatting restrictions (there are more options under settings which you can explore regarding styles, but see if it does what you want first before fiddling with the settings) 6) Click the Yes, Start Enforcing Protection button Hope that helps!
Amazing Video! I had a question: I want to restrict 4 columns of a table, and let others edit the 5th column. Is there a way to do so? Thank You in Advance.
So, I figured it out, but now I have another question. Please Help!! When I have a locked document , now I want to be able to tab over to the other sections after typing what I need, an example like in a letter format. to type in a name and then tab down to the address, but only that specific area that is "colored " in grey. I don't want the section getting bigger by tabbing over and over. How do I achieve this? O.K. if that doesn't make sense, like how you tab over in excel, from one cell to another cell I want to achieve that aspect in a word document? Thank you in advance for taking the time to reading and responding
I'm so sorry I didn't see you question when you posted it - I'm guessing you've probably figured it out by now!! Anyway, I'm not sure how you've set up your document but it sounds like you might be using fields since you mention the grey colours ... if so, you can use the F11 function key to hop to the different grey areas.
Hello Giovane! Yes, that would be possible! Just click in the table and you can create a new row inside the table using the Insert options on the Layout ribbon tab. Thanks for watching! Simona
LOL - I've left you stewing over this one for 6 months, sorry ;) I guess you've figured it out by now, but you would go to the Review tab, click Restrict Editing, and then choose Stop Protection (entering the password if there was one set). Thanks for viewing!

Hey Ms. Simona! What if I wanted to create a new line inside the table? Would it be possible?
Hello Giovane! Yes, that would be possible! Just click in the table and you can create a new row inside the table using the Insert options on the Layout ribbon tab. Thanks for watching! Simona
