Awesome Noz, great explanation. I was trying them the other day and it just resulted in me flicking my board away. I think I was trying to put too much effort into it I’ll take these tips with me next session
Yew thanks Josh! Took me ages to start sticking them, just keep practicing and trying to stay centred over your board. If you can get the pop, it’s just getting the rotation and the board will do it’s thing when you land backwards
Yew thanks Owen! That will be perfect to learn, if the wind is blowing the right direction, the board will stick to your feet like glue 🙌🏽 Let me know how you go
Thank you bro! When lifting the front up, you’ll do that by pushing down on your back foot. Then it’s like a sweeping motion with your back foot that swings the tail around to where the nose was originally pointing. Just make sure you’re rotating fast enough and the board should follow
Very nice video. I thought it can only be done in stronger waves... thanks to showing me that, I'll do my best to do a chop hop soon. Any lesson for a pop shove it? :) cheers! keep doing this ;)

I’ll have to master them before I make a video. But hopefully when I make my FS Air Rev video, it will help you out 🤙🏽 Cheers bro!!
What would be, according to your experience, good dimentions to start on a short board (for small waves), coming from a mid-length (7'6" 54 Liters), for someone 5'10 and 150 pounds (175cm/66 kl)? 30 liters ok or too big of a gap? I have a little idea but i would like to know your thoughts. Do I explain myself?
Hey mate! Luckily I’m almost the exact same height/weight as you. I ride 5’7 (few inches shorter) and 25L but if it’s your first time on a shortboard the more the merrier. I think 30L is a bit small for your level but I guess if you go much bigger you may struggle duckdiving. A big mistake people make is going too small, to get better at surfing fast, the most important thing is catching waves. That’s why extra volume is so helpful. If you go too small you won’t catch as many waves, thus limiting your progression. In your case maybe try a board a few inches bigger than you with plenty of volume. Maybe even 35L as you need to be catching waves. But if you’re unsure, maybe ask friends or shapers (for demo boards) if you can test a board similar to what you’re after. Or just get a cheap 2nd hand one and see how it goes. But yeah just don’t go too low litres 😄 Hope this helps!
Hi noz can you give me some tips on how to cutback I’m having a really hard time with going up to the lip and doing the bottom turn .thank you ,hope to hear back soon
Matters quite a bit! If your board is too big it’s hard to manoeuvre, if it’s too small it will sink 😂 I find that volume is the best metric to find the right board for you. I’m 68kg and 5’9/10ish and I ride 5’6/7 boards at 25.5L so if an intermediate surfer was the same height/weight as me I’d recommend they ride around 27L as they will catch more waves and the extra volume will help them maintain speed. I’m going a bit too in-depth haha but yes boards do matter especially for this specific manoeuvre

Thanks bro! Hope it helped 🤙🏽
thx for your help ! =)
No worries 🙌🏽
In terms of actually improving your surfing how much does the surfskate help been thinking of getting one but there quite pricey
100% worth it. I’ve only ridden the Smoothstars so can’t speak for the others, but helped so much at an intermediate level
Good stuff
Thanks brother 🙌🏽
Please make a how to pop up FAST on steep, fast waves in perfect position!
Great idea Angie 💡
I’ll add that to the list 🙌🏽

Can you please do backside Allsup
Oooh yes! I need to get better at em first. I never try that way but have done a bunch of
board shape and size how much does that matter?
Matters quite a bit! If your board is too big it’s hard to manoeuvre, if it’s too small it will sink 😂 I find that volume is the best metric to find the right board for you. I’m 68kg and 5’9/10ish and I ride 5’6/7 boards at 25.5L so if an intermediate surfer was the same height/weight as me I’d recommend they ride around 27L as they will catch more waves and the extra volume will help them maintain speed.
I’m going a bit too in-depth haha but yes boards do matter especially for this specific manoeuvre
