  • In this video we take a look at what we expect the new 2024 CUPRA Terramar will look like. We talk about what we know so far as well as speculate on what we expect to happen based on various sources and trends we've seen from the brand.
The Unstoppable Impulse event took place in Terramar (Sitges), where international media, institutions, partners, and CUPRA ambassadors such as Ballon d’Or and Best FIFA Award-winning footballer, Alexia Putellas joined the event. Representatives from the Volkswagen Group and members of the shareholders families - Piëch and Porsche -also joined the event.
CUPRA Terramar: the brand’s first electrified SUV
Plug-in hybrid technology has shown that electrification is part of CUPRA’s DNA, and the range of vehicles that benefit from the technology has grown to encapsulate a large part of the brand’s range. But CUPRA is taking it further. By 2024, the line-up of plug-in hybrid models will include even more options and will have greater range. Joining the team is the CUPRA Terramar, a sports SUV that pays homage to Terramar, Sitges, combining bold proportions with striking design. This new electrified SUV will move the company to the hot spot of the SUV segment, the fastest-growing segment in Europe. It will be produced in Hungary at Audi’s Györ plant.
The CUPRA Terramar will be available with conventional gasoline powertrains as well as a new generation of plug-in hybrid powertrains that deliver around 62 miles (100 kilometres) in all-electric mode.
The e-HYBRID range focuses on performance and contemporary sportiness and are part of the bigger journey as CUPRA fulfils its electrification revolution.
“Terramar, our new sporty hybrid SUV, perfectly combines bold proportions with a long striking bonnet, while the shark nose means breakthrough resistance and the determination to win”, said Jorge Diez, Design Director at CUPRA. “Thinking of how the driver will feel, we provide a unique experience with the latest technology, thanks to the driver oriented interior concept. All in all, a 4.5 metre long SUV, with CUPRA DNA ready to shake one of the most competitive segments”.
CUPRA Tavascan: the dream comes true
The next stage of the journey is the CUPRA Tavascan. The car encapsulates CUPRA’s electrified vision and will remain faithful to the 2019 concept car. Some design elements were strongly hinted at in the 2021 CUPRA Tavascan Extreme E Concept. The CUPRA Tavascan doesn’t just capture the vision of contemporary electrification, but it also globalises the brand, taking CUPRA to new markets. It will be launched in 2024.

One thing that;s still not clear to me and none of the car reviews seem to talk about is that it was introduced together with a new facelift for the formentor, which is an identical car in length and also a phev. What is the difference? Why do they both need to exist? Why do I want/need the Terramar and why do I want/need the formentor?

The best way to think of it is on a dynamics to practicality scale. Leon is the most dynamic but least practical. Formentor is a little higher up, less dynamic compared to the Leon but offers a bit more space. Then you'll have the Terramar. More upright, higher up, more practical and spacious but a little less dynamic compared to the Formentor. Does that make sense?

Nice, I own a Cupra Leon Sportstourer hybrid for 2 years, the Terramar could be a nice addition in 2025.

I wish they would offer a more powerful variant, I'm sick of the old 300bhp versions, put it up to at least 350-390 FFS lol

There won't be a 300hp version this time. Maximum output will be 272hp from the plug-in hybrid

This is going to be a fantastic upgrade from my Ateca VZX (the 221kw version, Aussie model) when released.. Will keep mine I guess for another 2 years, will still have 2.5 warranty, then this should be out and all the little niggles with the Ateca (being such an old base car) will be fixed, like, better interior, better LED lights and so on. Plus, it will be my final petrol car before I go EV, so I will enjoy it and stage 2+ it as well LOL.
But really looking forward to Terramar. The Formentor was just too low for me withy my back issues, getting in and out was as bad as a C Class sedan for me.

This should be a very popular car. Lots of people will be thinking the same as you. Maybe not with the stage 2 though ;)

Since it will be my last ICE car, why not.. or I suppose I could do it to my Ateca. @@smcmotorgroup
