    Welcome back You Tubers...
    to another, DOUG DOING DEMOS, instructional Video.
    In this video our microwave oven's light bulb blew and so I thought it would make a great video to explain how to replace these bulbs if you have never done it before. Trust me it's easy and you can get the bulbs for about 4.50 each ordered 2 at a time from Amazon.
    If you have any questions please feel free to ask them and I'll answer as soon as I notice them.
    It was fun making this for you hope it has helped you out and please "LIKE" it and if you think it will help one of your friends go ahead and "SHARE" it with them.
    Until next time... OUT!

    This video is great. I’ve had the light in my microwave replaced once and that was years ago when I had a warranty. The light has been out for at least 2+ years and I’ve had this microwave 10+ years.
    Thank you for this video and ALSO mentioning the type of bit (T120) that’s needed for the screws in the back. I’ve replaced the light myself and I can microwave food and now see through the window again 😊.
    THANK YOU!!!

    THANKS Doug! For those who have the model NN-SA651-S, this is what I found: three T20 security screws, and two size 1 Philips-head screws. I bought a security screw set at Harbor Freight for $10. Easy-peasy!!

    This was a great tutorial that saved me and my Panasonic. Two comments. I didn’t have the right torx bit to remove the tamper-resistant screws. I watched another video with several workarounds and the one that worked for me (which I didn’t think would) was using an adjustable locking plier to turn the screw head. This worked very easily because the screws weren’t very tight (so when I was finished I didn’t over-tighten them when replacing them). Link to that video is below.
    Second, when removing the two wires from the old bulb, the thumbtack trick worked on the top wire but the bottom/blue wire had a clip with a smaller hole that I couldn’t get the tack to release. If you flip that wire over there is a release “hook” on the underside of the clip that I pressed and the wire came right off. So if your two wires are not fastened the same way, flip over the one that won’t release with the tack and you’ll see the release clip.
    Lastly, another video warned not to touch the transformer inside the unit, even if it is unplugged. Not sure if that’s an issue, but of course I avoided it and share that advice just in case. Avoiding it isn’t a problem.
    Here’s the video link on removing torx screws. ua-cam.com/video/lifM6Vttecg/v-deo.html

    Thanks for giving me the courage to tackle this myself - unfortunately I got the wrong light but the good news is mine just was dangling loose and I put it back and it works - for the special screws it is the same tool for the ring doorbell if you have one of those

    Thank you, Doug! Your video encouraged me to replace the light bulb in our Panasonic NN-SN762S microwave oven. Amazon delivered the security torx set and replacement bulb the next day. The microwave is working again, including the light!

    Thank you Doug for sharing this video, you are an absolute Gent Sir. This nearly sixty year old woman was determined not to be paying goodness knows how much to have a service agent come to my home to change a light bulb for me (& charge me 💷💷💷 for the privilege) - & with your very informative video I was able to do it myself very easily. My microwave is a Prestige CB300W, & it was just a case of modifying your instructions a little to suit my appliance. It is sad that these manufacturers do not make bulbs more easy to access for their customers, Enjoy your day Sir.

    You can also use a very small flat bladed screwdriver to unscrew the security torx bolts. The flat blade fits above the little pin and locks in between two of the internal torx slots - works perfectly.

    WHY did Panasonic make SO many steps? It is a lightbulb, not Fort Knox! Thank you Doug for helping me fix this issue. I am trying to find this T-20 Torx thing just to open the back of the microwave! With the bulb out, I think it would be easier to install a candle into the microwave!

    I ordered the bulb from Amazon. Already had the T20 security bit. Thanks to your video, the job took me 10 minutes! The tip about the little buttons on the connectors saved me time, for sure. Thanks Doug! I suspect the security screws are more a matter of liability of people discharging the capacitor through a finger than of creating revenue for appliance service people.

    Awesome video. Why? Because you don't skip any steps, assuming, "Oh, I'm sure you all already know how to do this next part, so I'll skip showing you how and go onto the next step." I hate that! I want to see every step, every piece, every turn of every screw... and you did.

    I don’t know where the owner’s manual is. This is the first time I see a microwave light bulb with a T22 base, but not T7. Do the Panasonic microwaves all come with a T22 bulb base? I just ordered 2 T7 LED bulbs to replace the one in my microwave. How do I know which base it takes before removing the cover? This is a Panasonic model NN-SN762S.

    Thanks for the video. Changed the light bulb successfully! Similar Panasonic model with 5 screws at the back. All good except the cover/case is bulging on all sides. Screws are tightened. Any suggestion for making it snug again? Thanks.

    In your opinion, can I upgrade the light bulb to a brighter one? Could it cause a wattage problem to the microwave? Thanks

    • @dougdoingdemos
      @dougdoingdemos  Рік тому

      If you're changing over to a LED type light bulb you could go up in wattage but because of possible heat issues, I wouldn't go up wattage with any other type of bulb.

    So my bulb is flickering. Would replacing the bulb fix it or is the light 💡 still good and it’s an electrical problem?

    • @dougdoingdemos
      @dougdoingdemos  3 роки тому

      I would replace it and if the replacement bulb flickers I would guess it's more involved and would require repair by a service center.

      Gloves while removing and installing cover

    • @dougdoingdemos
      @dougdoingdemos  2 роки тому +1

      @@tedbrewer7847 Thanks Ted, Sounds like a good idea to ware leather gloves when removing and re-installing the cover or be extra aware of the thin edge. Don't forget eye-protection either and don't touch anything other then the bulb when the cover is off. Above all make sure unit is unplugged from the wall at all time when the cover is off. I plugged it in only a short time to show that the light worked and then I unplugged it and I re-installed the cover. If anyone has any more safety advise please write them in the comments section. Thanks again.
