Priscilla Shirer was THE person I looked for when I came back to God. I didnt remember her name, I just knew I was looking for the lady from War Room. From her I found Jackie Hill Perry and after her I found Stephanie Ike Okafor. I'd love to see these three women on a panel. These women were and still are pivotal in my walk and I am so grateful for God using them.

This is exactly what's wrong with seeker sensitive/prosperity gospel Christians... you are being filled with crap that inflates your pride. You are still a sinner in need of Christ's grace daily. Read your Bible... you won't find 1 Christian who ever expressed this notion that "everything is right with me", its quite the contrary, friend.
Praying you will read your Bible, locate a local Bible believing/preaching Church, and be discipled by an elder in your church.

I love you Lecrae, and just by that last episode with Crystal Renee, you needed to hear that last 5 minutes of this conversation. I think Crystal does as well. And I’m only making this statement because you put the conversation out there publicly. It seemed lukewarm on both ends. You mentioned “you all out there listening to cotton candy sermons”, but just judging by last episode, are you taking serious what scripture says about how we should live? Not questioning your salvation bro, but it was obvious in the whole conversation with Crystal that it was like “sin was okay”. It reminded me more of the culture Christianity that Priscilla was talking about here at the end. Mrs.Priscilla was on it. There is definitely a difference between being just a believer and a disciple. What Priscilla was talking about here was sanctification 🙌🏾.

Thank you for bringing Priscilla on. One thing I appreciate her for is her authenticity. She will give you the Word while keeping it real. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.Compromise is not her thing and keeps the standard as it should be, biblical. I love the bit about having a circle of godly people whom one can be vulnerable with and be assured they'd hold you down in times of crisis and also share in your highs. Sometimes life hits you hard and you know you ought to pray but can't press in. Having people send you prayers when you can't even pray is one of the highest forms of love. The bit about believer vs disciple 🤌 too good. Will look out for her book.

I remember discovering Priscilla at a citywide conference years ago. I was throughly intrigued. After discovering that she existed, I stayed listening to her sermons regularly, and then she came back to the city in a more intimate setting and I got the opportunity to meet and chat with her briefly. Being “you” at times is a pressure that I feel like only Black people have to battle with. We always feel as if we need to dial up or down our “blackness” to fit in certain environments. We do this corporately and even in ministry. So glad I’m finally free of that!

    • @ShanaSephora
      @ShanaSephora 2 місяці тому

I am sorry you feel that way, but try not to generalise. If that's how you feel as an individual my heart goes out to you. But saying "we" is speaking for all people who are Black. I've never personally believe that; I think it's a lie that a lot of people fall. Your feelings belong to you and only you. Again, I am sorry you feel that way. It sounds like insecurity, which is never a good feeling ❤

I agree, I have never felt that internally as a black person to the pount where it was a weight or pressure on who I am. I have always been myself even if it is different from what others thought I would be.
I will say that some black peoole do it to other black people. Like they can't understand how some black people can operate well in non black spaces. She literally told him she was just herself in white and black spaces. His question was how did she navigate both worlds....some black people don't. We are just ourselves.

I enjoyed this interview a lot. The thing that stole something from it, for me, was when Priscilla Shirer insinuates that women who are not black, don't discipline their children effectively, using the example "straight-laced and sweet" with a parental response to their child rolling their eyes being, "Come here precious, you wanna sit in time-out?", suggesting Caucasians (or other races? - doubtful though), not possessing or using a "Ghetto or umph" style approach, really speaks to how she sees Caucasian parents. I understand she's talking about a role in a low income black American single mother's life and that's "how they do" (black people in general) but the rudeness of the straight-laced and sweet comment was unnecessary and not close to the truth. Not in the real world of Caucasians. Sure, the way we've been portrayed by the media, which the black community should understand because THEY, and we all know who they are at this point, did the same to every race, via propaganda, movies and TV, advertisements, media in general, and every way that THEY are led to, to control not only a race, but the masses. Being "straight-laced and sweet" is a positive thing. I can hit my child in love and discipline and still be sweet and straight-laced. After all, Jesus is sweet and straight-laced. This type of rhetoric is used to cause division. Not unity. We all have underlying stereotypes in our belief systems. Unity will not truly come this way.
    adjective: straight-laced
having or showing very strict moral attitudes.
Proverbs 13:24 states, "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them". There are people in every race and culture who love their children and who do not love their own children. Cultural appropriating comes in all forms and the power of suggestion is only one. If you aren't being like Jesus, yes even in this, you are playing the devil's hand against unity. Period. We as the Bride of Christ, MUST rise above these things. The motive is everything...
Jesus' last prayer in John 17.
    v. 20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me." (THE HARVEST IS WAITING ON US! LORD READY US PLEASE 🙏)
    v. 25 "O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
Without spot or wrinkle means complete unity in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. That's exactly what the final remnant of His people will be. In complete unity.
I am not offended. I choose not to be. I'm pointing out words and the power of suggestion, that carries much power due to the platform and personalities here using those words. It feeds division. READ ALL OF JOHN 17. Hear the heart of Jesus as He prays to our Heavenly Father... Jesus help us become one as Yall are one. We need Your help Lord. God bless yall. Kingdom over all cultures. Shared in love.

But luckily I had a relationship with God and knew I was most affected when I am realllllll. So when I was told u can’t wear your shorts. Or ur skirts. (None were close to my derrière even bending over) or speak like that. But for some reason I always smile and Jesus kept saying stay real. I can’t use u fully if u not real. So to hear all that on this is nice 😊. Guys keep doing what you do. It’s a blessing
