Question for Dr McVary - does Rezum work when the patient has an enlarged median lope such that there is intravesicse prostate protrusion into the posterior bladder neck with the indent causing a raised horseshoe shaped structure about two thirds around the bladder neck and raised about 5 mm, causing significant obstruction of the bladder neck exit. Can the Rezume treatment get close enough to the indenting part of the prostate to reduce it without damaging the bladder wall and neck with the steam? Thank you for your opinion and advice.

how often do u see patients with an average size prostate suffer from urinary symptoms that we typically relate to BPH? i'm 55 and for unrelated reasons (trying to hold onto my hair) am already taking propecia & saw palmetto daily. symptoms started about a year ago. i can void 100% (3 separate tests confirmed this), no have "urgency" symptoms, have an average size prostate, don't feel like i struggle to urinate...... but my bladder aches all the time which gets worse with any volume. from all the research i've done, my very unprofessional opinion is that it falls more into the IC category than BPH. the local urologists are quick to offer rezum/urolift but none have made a convincing argument as to why those procedures would help my bladder stop aching all the time. any thoughts much appreciated.

Rezum îs a painful, brutal procedure that is temporary at best. Your life will be hell for at least 30 days after the procedure. Live steam is injected into your prostate while you are fully awake. It was the most painful procedure I have ever endured. NEVER would I suggest someone have this procedure. You can look forward to additional BPH procedures in the future after having Rezum.
