I think you and Nin are really sweet together. And hearing her voice as well when quoting reviews is also interesting to listen to. Also just a side note, I liked some of the “ultra” infamous episodes as a kid so my nostalgia has probably made me biased lol
I think the title _"Not All Glitters Are Gold"_ really says a lot about that "La Spatula" in a nutshell -- that stuff is expensive that you put a lot of effort and savings to buy it, but its usefulness comes out as worthless at the end. Out of all the mean-spirited Bikini Bottomites, La Spatula completely outranked everyone, even Squidward of all people.
I remember this episode because while SpongeBob’s crying didn’t bother me, I wholeheartedly agree that this was very mean-spirited and can’t help but feel terribly bad for SpongeBob. Yes, he does get his own spatula back but the entirety of the episode felt uncomfortable and unnecessary, why!!!? 😐😬😰
Interesting little aside, if Le Spatula's voice sounds familiar, it's because he's voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. If you've watched American Dad, that name should sound familiar, because he voices the goldfish, Klaus Heisler. He's also voiced Squilliam and Bubble Bass in Spongebob, and is also notable for playing Captain Rex from Star Wars The Clone Wars.
Gone was a really good episode, especially when SpongeBob started making crabby patties out of his friends, talking to cars and dressing up as Ms puff. Up until the abysmal ending
It would've been better if it had mutant fish chasing after him like in the movie I Am Legend which I think they might've got inspiration from since the episode aired months after the film's release.

He gets his payback and it turned into a really funny and satisfying episode

'the googly artiste' REALLY bothered me aswell cause i am also a self taught artist and i can kinda relate to squidward. ALL the time i have seen good artists (including myself) get less recognition on their work that can take up to hours if not DAYS to do. then i see the people who hardly put in ANY effort and get LOTS more recognition. its SOO INFURIATING
I think a lot of people will mostly point out the obvious bad spongebob episodes (good neighbors, one course meal, etc.). But, I think its interesting how the wiki puts some of these episodes as "ultra infamous" when I see barely anyone mention how bad it is.
4:00 Ironically, this episode is what prompted me to get a slide whistle for Christmas, a device I'd never heard of outside this episode, and honestly, outside of the one I have now, haven't heard of since
as a kid my season 6 DVD had scratches on it, so it would never let me get to the end of Gone. Looks like my dvd player was trying to hide me of the pain
9:15 Band Geeks. Band Geeks is how you do Squidward torture right. You see the torture. You see that someone else (Spongebob) sees the torture. You see them acknowledge it as torture. You see them fix the torture. You see Squidward no longer tortured and happy.
Plot twist: Modern Patrick is a robot created by some evil being who despised spongebob. Meaning fake Patrick plays ignorant and brainwashed the sea sponge turning him into a man-child. The original Patrick was kidnapped by this unidentified specimen. Luckily, He surrendered and brought the real Patrick back after season 9. This explains why Patrick turned from a kind-hearted simpleton into a sociopathic asteroidean. But that's just a theory, A film theory!
I don't understand why SpongeBob writers love to humiliate abstract art so much (we have at least 4 or 5 episodes with that theme) *considering how they make money from the Bold and Brash drawing,* that let's be honest, is a little gem.
I honestly really liked Squidwood because Squidward could've gotten exactly what he wanted, he never had to deal with Spongebob again and he never had to work again, but because of his own ego he couldn't let the puppet have all of the attention, it's really funny!
I'm very surprised by how much hate Squid Wood gets, as I don't have any big problems with it, and there are a lot of episodes I consider bad, but Squid Wood doesn't have anything that infuriates me.
@@unanimouslyhatedI agree with you. Squidwood isn't really funny. That episode is make me hate both Spongebob and the people of Bikini Bottom. Heck, even those people of Bikini Bottom are assholes to Squidward. That episode make me wants to punch those dirtbags in the face for being a jerk to Squidward.
This was an awesome video. I always find that the episode where SpongeBob gets insomnia is probably very iconic to me. Mainly because that is the episode that aired the most when I was a kid. But as in terms of ultra infamous, the slide whistle one was very annoying
I will say that “Gone” is the first time they’ve had that exact twist to “Last man on earth” plot, and somehow possibly worse than everyone actually being dead.
Yo Josh, I thank you for the video you posted. This brings back memories because I remember watching the season 6 episodes as a child. Really, the episode "Giant Squidward" is what gets me.
15:12 People always seem to forget that after Sponge Bob was so hurt, he immediately turns around does the same to Patrick on "No Patrick "Day"" which makes Sponge Bob horrible as well.
One thing we need to remember is that a lot of these episodes were written during a dark time at Nickelodeon. The company was ABSOLUTELY MILKING Spongebob for anything worth he had left! Correct me if I'm wrong, but at one point it was almost the ONLY thing playing on Nickelodeon! Since they were pumping out episode so quickly, they didn't have time for quality assurance! or proper screening, for that matter, because there was a LOT of fetish fodder in some of those episodes!
Do you have any examples of "fetish fodder"? I never noticed as a kid and I haven't seen any episodes from that era in a while so I'm sorta curious now lol
@@socialgutbrain7774 Off the top of my head, Giant Squidward seemed to have a navel fetish tone (and arguably a giant fetish), The Splinter did have a scene that could be regarded as foot fetish, and both squid baby and goo goo gas seem to pander to the diaper fetish, just to name a few! My hypothesis is that since the show was so crunched for time at that point, the studio didn't have time to proofread the script, meaning the writers could put dang near anything they wanted into an episode with little to no time for the studio to say no. So I believe we're seeing some of the writers kinks peaking out in their work (sad thing is, it wouldn't be the first time they've let something like this happen). Again, that's just a hypothesis! So please don't quote me on it until I'm proven right!
Seeing a new Strider's video puts a smile on my face. I've been watching your videos for a while, and you are one of the calmest and most good vibing youtuber
29:08 You forgot to mention the fact that later The Squidward Puppet tells those same people the exact same joke, but they then think that it's hilarious.
I noticed this same stupid joke is used in a lot of other cartoons as well and I honestly never quite understood it. Supposedly it's meant to be funny, but I don't see how. For once I want the character attempting to tell the joke to question their audience why it's only funny when the other character tells the joke, but not when they tell it.
woke up, had breakfast, had some of the worst tooth pain of my life, realized i had an ulser, then i went to my computer and found this, i love phantom strider videos, thanks, strider.
So, I guess this is kinda a hot take, but I actually enjoyed the episode "Gone". Like, sure, the ending really sucked, but the rest of the episode I actually find myself enjoying. I'm not exactly sure why I enjoy it, but I think it's because of how they show how someone can go insane if they don't have enough social contact for extended periods of time. I also found it entertaining to see how SpongeBob starts saying he doesn't think he can trust any vehicle and then proceeds to axe a vehicle (the bus) before he essentially snaps out of it because everyone comes back (not sure why, but I appreciate the connection). I'd say the part where it starts really being terrible is after everyone piles out of the bus. Although I'm kinda glad they leave Patrick at the end, too, for unknown reasons
I'm surprised by comments by those saying they enjoyed the episode aside from the ending, as I feel the same way and hadn't heard of others enjoying the majority of it before. While the ending could have been far better, I really got into everything that came before it.

Yeah they were probably the episode he talked about the most. Also I’m pretty sure they are literally above ultra infamous infamous on the scumbob wiki, they were hyper infamous
I think they brought back the concept of 'Pineapple Fever' for a later episode in the series, specifically how 3 of the characters are stuck indoors together due to a storm. I believe the episode was titled 'Pull up a Barrel', where Mr Krabs regales Spongebob and Squidward with a tale of one of his adventures while in the navy whilst they were stuck inside the Krusty Krab together. I personally enjoyed that episode way more than 'Pineapple Fever'.
Agree completely. Although not partially a fan of post-sequel SpongeBob, Pull up a Barrel was certainly a hidden jem. I do also see similarities in the concepts of the two episodes and I know which one I would pick.

I love Pineapple Fever and a good amount of season 6, there are a lot of hidden gems in that season like Porous Pockets, A Life in A Day, Komputer Overload and SpongeBob vs. the Big One.
I always think the season is very over-hated. Sure, there are some stinkers but there are a lot in there that are actually quite good. Examples include Krabby Road, Suction Cup Symphony, Not Normal and Dear Vikings. The only one I would disagree with is SpongeBob vs. the Big One. Can't stand that episode.
@@ItsHailee7 I love Krabby Road and Not Normal too. Big One, while being very weak in story, has a lot of great gags like the Mr. Krab’s not paying for the fan, Squidward’s “who are you” to Sandy and a lot of Patrick’s lines. But, I totally understand the hate the episode receives.
One course meal and a pal for Garry were actually classified as hyper-infamous on the scumbob wiki, which is consistent of how sonics forms are ranked in power
Not gonna lie, I'm a person who doesn't really care if SpongeBob is bad or not. I just roll with it. I just enjoy the little Sponge too much. I can't hate him.
It’s the same thing with me, while I genuinely understand why many people don’t like the episodes that on the list, I guess I have very high tolerance in comparison to those who do. Yes, I also don’t like seeing Squidward or any character for that matter getting tortured/treating as punching bags throughout the show considering they make me more sad than angry and I do agree with some of the criticisms but issues aside, I don’t mind them personally. I can’t hate SpongeBob regardless if he’s bad or not, there are definitely some things that go out of character at times but excluding that, I still love SpongeBob!!! 😝😊
To be fair, Squidward looked completely unrecognizable and SpongeBob and Patrick had no idea it was Squidward and Squidward couldn’t speak, so he wasn’t able to tell them it was him.
I haven't watched that much Season 6 episode but when you described Pineapple Fever sounded like it could have been a good, quotable episode, like Survival of the Idiots, The Camping Episode or Club Spongebob, or at least a decent one like Good ol' Whatshisname. I didn't imagine it would reach this level of abysmal.
@lilpetz500 The toenail scene made me cower in fear as a child, and this is from someone who was unphased by the Invader Zim episode "Dark Harvest". I could handle a lot of creepy stuff growing up, but that scene was particularly awful. I've eventually found that acute and abrupt expressions of pain are often more upsetting for me than slow-burn horror.
I also want to learn about these infamous episodes, particularly “Hyper Infamous” to be honest because if “Hyper” is considered to be the worst of the worst, then I can’t even imagine how terrible those episodes truly are. 🙀😰😬
Kinda funny how the writers of spongebob eventually thought that "all that glitters" was pretty horrible too so they redid that plot of spongebob breaking his spatula, but better (although a bit forgettable, it's still a step up from that episode)
In regards to the art thing, I think most of those kinds of episodes are saying that the idea of art is so abstract that what is classified as art is subjective

I think you and Nin are really sweet together. And hearing her voice as well when quoting reviews is also interesting to listen to.
Also just a side note, I liked some of the “ultra” infamous episodes as a kid so my nostalgia has probably made me biased lol
I always like how you bring your wife in to voice the comments. She's got such a pleasant voice for them.
And her... OC? Whatever is shown in these videos is real cute.
Same! These days I'm wondering how I watched the channel before she came along, those voiceovers are a gem
Agree. I was startled at first but it grew on me first, it's such a nice duo.
@@bluestreaker9242 Klaus the Goldfish from American Dad? That make sense.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 In a cosmic sorta way, yes. XD
@@bluestreaker9242 Le Spatula sounded like Klaus but with a French accent instead of his usual German.
The fact that Strider gave a shoutout to You Don't Know Jack during #4 genuinely made me smile inside c:
Gone was a really good episode, especially when SpongeBob started making crabby patties out of his friends, talking to cars and dressing up as Ms puff. Up until the abysmal ending
Yeah, the episode ending was rather cruel.
It would've been better if it had mutant fish chasing after him like in the movie I Am Legend which I think they might've got inspiration from since the episode aired months after the film's release.
@@josephrowe849 It would make a really good lost episode alternate ending creepypasta if you think about it
This is still one of my favorite shows.
Also, Hyper-Infamous is more infamous than Ultra-Infamous.
True
I like how there's a whole wiki just based off of bad episodes there's there's different categories based on how bad they are
I know
I honestly find the nickname you give to SpongeBob, "Spongy" kinda adorable in a way
Hello, scumbob wiki user here, here to clarify that hyper-infamous is supposed to be worse than ultra-infamous
Ah gotcha thanks! Hyper infamous is the worst of worst from what I was seeing 🙂I discussed hyper infamous in "the most hated spongebob episodes" assuming this 😃 Thanks for helping make such a fun wiki!
All this Spongebob, and I'm happy as a clam to hear how you met the Missus, I'm so happy for you and you guys sound like a really wholesome and healthy and happy couple. I'm glad you guys found each other!!! Thanks for the great content as always!
9:18 I’d argue the camping episode for example- he kinda brings it on himself and he’s rude to them at first so that kinda makes the seabear payoff at the end hilarious, Krusty towers would be another example of it done well technically. He gets his payback and it turned into a really funny and satisfying episode
phantom, watching your videos always puts a smile on my face. you're always so well-spoken and handle a lot of topics with grace, or just make the video generally fun :)
I just want to say that I’ve been a huge fan of your content for years now and have inspired me for a while now. I love all of your uploads and they make me feel better whenever I’m down and I want to thank you for making me and many others happy with your videos. Also I like how you have your partner in your videos, it’s honestly really sweet. Anyways great video as always PhantomStrider 👍
Hey thanks Draco. As long as people like yourself enjoy them, I'll make these vids as long as I can manage 🙂
@@phantomstrider do you hate Squidward torture because I do
I found a lot of giant Squidward funny, the lamp post joke was really funny to me
You look like squidward
I really like this! I was very curious on some of your thoughts on these surprisingly overlooked infamous episodes. I also appreciate your point of view for some of them like the #10 and #6 spots. Great video as always Strider!
@AzureWolf168 yeah. It's just really annoying and sad to see
@AzureWolf168 say it louder for people in the back!
as much as i hate these episodes, spongebob is my favorite show of all time! these spongebob lists are awesome, strider!
Its a good day, or morning in my case when PhantomStrider uploads a Spongebob ranking!
I like your profile picture.
@AzureWolf168 he's one of my favorite FNAF characters. mainly because of his cool voice.
First rule of Spongebob episode writing: Spongebob should annoy Squidward or other Bikini Bottom residents- NOT the TV audience.
The "Gone" episode used to scare me when I was little, the reason why was because of how eerie of spongebob being alone and slowly going insane.
9:15
Band Geeks. Band Geeks is how you do Squidward torture right. You see the torture. You see that someone else (Spongebob) sees the torture. You see them acknowledge it as torture. You see them fix the torture. You see Squidward no longer tortured and happy.
Band Geeks is the 1# best episode.
Still one of the best animated shows ever made.
It is, except for the later seasons.
Exactly. And what does everyone think about Sonic Boom (TV show).
@@JustaHedgehoginSonicBoom mixed.
@@christianparrish3292it’s ok
@@christianparrish3292hey, I like seasons 9-13. 6-8 are ok. Yeah, I said it.
Squid Wood was always a guilty pleasure of mine.
No he didn’t want to choose between 2 evils, and let a doll take over his life. Anyone would be upset with that
I'm very surprised by how much hate Squid Wood gets, as I don't have any big problems with it, and there are a lot of episodes I consider bad, but Squid Wood doesn't have anything that infuriates me.
You don't know Sponge is pretty forgettable once you haven't watched it for several years.
I’m felling a little stressed lately, and your videos always make me feel better. Especially ur SpongeBob ones. Thanks strider!
Well Patrick is a shitty friend, and he did the same to him.
@@Kermie-the-frog571 Yup. They both suck. That was my point.
Yeah. They're hypocrites.
I actually liked pineapple fever…
You have always been one of my favorite UA-camrs because you’re earnest, honest, adorable and so, so positive. And I’m so thrilled you found someone who goes together so well with you. Congratulations!!! 😁😁❤️
You forgot to mention that in "All that Glitters," that we get a shot of the Le Spatula positioned *phallically* on Spongebob...
wha-?? when was that?
@@sober_katz It's in the thumbnail, and when Le Spatula wouldn't touch the krabby patty
I love from the fact that you post more often.
Even in my younger years I didn’t like some of these episodes. Most of these episodes make me feel sorry for squidward even though he’s a character now I realized the opinion towards the spongeboomers for not liking anything beyond the first movie. It feels like they mostly relied heavily on schadenfreude and harassment towards squidward and I relate to you strider, squidwards doesn’t deserve this.
Why didn't Giant Squidward take his revenge on the town after years of torment is beyond me.
Well he tried to get revenge on SpongeBob and Patrick and it didn't work out and I doubt he'd beat people up for hating his art and clarinet playing.
Actually, why wasn't Squilliam In this episode? Imagine Giant size Squidward taking revenge on his rival.
@@growlie2676 he already got his revenge in House Fancy after Squilliam Returns.
@@ShadowtheUA-camr523 Still wish he was in the episode though.
Because the writers don't want their hating character Squidward to get revenge on 2 idiots characters.
I kinda like Slide Whistle Stooges. There's some neat visual gags in the episode which they use with the slide whistle sound effects.
3:38 the impression of the spongebob writer makes me smile.
Didn’t expect to find out what kind of friend I truly am from a video about infamous SpongeBob episodes.
But thank you, Strider, for bringing this “fairweather friend” thing to light for me.

Slide whistle stooges was pretty funny when I was a kid.
One correction is that Last Man on Earth does not have zombies, it has vampires taking over the earth.
Although they do have some zombie traits.
Hey PhantomStrider. I really do enjoy a lot of your top lists, especially the SpongeBob ones. In fact, I enjoy them so much that I have some ideas that I would like to suggest to you since you're an amazing UA-camr. Anyways, my suggestions for your next top lists are:

I love when you drop a new SpongeBob video! Your commentary always cheers me up. I’d love to see something food related soon again. I love those!!!!!
Honestly I was expecting that certain episode involving Plankton's fear of Whales or A Pal for Gary, But then again they may have been featured before in his other videos so there you go.
Yeah they were probably the episode he talked about the most. Also I’m pretty sure they are literally above ultra infamous infamous on the scumbob wiki, they were hyper infamous
I just want to say that I absolutely love your content your videos are so addicted❤
Pull Up A Barrel is such a good episode, and in fact, it's my favorite episode of season 9.
Technically Mutiny on the Krusty as well.
Still nice to know this man is still thriving on youtube still doing what he loves, I've always loved watching phantomstrider he's always seemed like a friendly happy fellow to watch no matter the subject and he'd always take it with respect and dignity and still trying to lighten up with some humor every now and then, sometimes educating the audience as well with facts or knowledge. Season 6 and 7 *was* like a big middle finger to the fans who once liked this show.
I love Pineapple Fever and a good amount of season 6, there are a lot of hidden gems in that season like Porous Pockets, A Life in A Day, Komputer Overload and SpongeBob vs. the Big One.
SpongeBob vs. The Big One was actually a bit of an interesting episode to me, but it still wasn't so good, I think.
@@Loner098 Yeah I see how this season definitely isn’t for everyone, I just think most of the episodes’ post ironic humor works very well for me.
Slide Whistle Stooges is the pinpoint reason on why I never want to touch a slide whistle with a ten foot poll

Gone is actually one of my favourite episodes of spongebob. Because i think its an interesting concept
Unpopular opinion
I found SpongeBob and Patrick sleeping in Squidward’s giant belly button to be grosser than the toenail scene from House Fancy
Ehh, it's a bit nasty and I can only imagine the smell, but there's no intense pain and screaming so it doesn't set anything off for me.
For Oral Report, you have to give SpongeBob credit for not wanting to do something illegal and forge a driver's license
Tbh i was surprised at some of these episodes on the list yay thanks for answering my question strider

Kinda funny how the writers of spongebob eventually thought that "all that glitters" was pretty horrible too so they redid that plot of spongebob breaking his spatula, but better (although a bit forgettable, it's still a step up from that episode)
