It’s also cool how in “Christmas Who?” Squidward didn’t originally intend on giving all his stuff away and was a bit reluctant, but because it was necessary to keep up the act and not let SpongeBob down, he kept doing it. The best special is The Great Buckeye Chase, SpongeBob is on sceen for the most of the time, it was performed by real people, it actually has a story and old songs return
Same. I could also relate to SpongeBob about being teased and ridiculed for having silly dreams. Plus the songs are nice. As a kid I wanted to fly just like him. Especially the end when he does get his wish just for a short while.
...squidward’s relationship with spongebob is pretty much perfectly summed up in that episode...and it truly makes me happy to see squidward having a good time, or to get into any spirit other than anger/depression
"Have You Seen This Snail?" is an episode I can never watch since April of 2018. My cat ran off a month to a month and a half before he passed away on April 4th of that year. It's not the concept itself of a lost pet, it's HOW the concept was explored and how it was portrayed. It's **too real** for me. Like, fuck, the way the writers made the whole episode is a testament to the greatness of the show. When it's great, it's timeless. While I cannot watch it again, I can understand just how good it is. It's one of the best of the series in my opinion.
I feel your pain bro, a few years ago my cat Mitzi went missing for about a week we were about to put up missing poster then one morning I herd a meow at the side of my bed and she was they’re! One of the best episodes I’ve ever seen of SpongeBob.

5:33 there's actually a very neat easter egg in this special. The sheet music isn't the music for "Don't be a jerk" it's actually the sheet music for "The best day ever" song
I agree! The Christmas Special was one of my favorites because it showed the essence of Squidward. He's not just some cranky mean character who's just mean spirited. Like you said, he literally cleaned out his house to give to everyone in Bikini Bottom a present. The act itself is incredibly selfless but that he did it disguised as Santa meant he got no recognition for it. It reminds me of those people who record their good deeds and post it for everyone to see. I mean, I can't be mad at it because the most important thing is the person being helped but I can't help but feel like it's set up or they take the gift back after the camera stops rolling. Something about doing good, not for recognition, but just for the sake of doing good is something rare and warms my heart more than anything as I've been in the position where I wish the same would have been done for me and the people who DID give generously with no other request but to pay it forward. I still pray for these people and hope they are greatly rewarded for the kindness they showed me at my absolute lowest. The episode meant a lot more after growing up and experiencing things like this myself. Side note, love your juggling at the end lol
It's the most emotional episode Because this has happened to me when my dog ran away so seeing somebody go through the same thing even in a TV show is the most depressing thing in the world even more depressing than Billie illish songs
I personally really liked Truth or Square. It was unique and fun and I liked how the 4 main characters get stuck in the vent. And Krabs was hillarious in my opinion.
I think the full version (the one with all the celebrity phone calls) was boring most of the time, but the edited 40 minute (I think was 40 minutes) version was really good.
Hot Take: I actually like Atlantis Squarepantis. I know it's flawed and technically not great, but I consider it to be a guilty pleasure. Its kinda overhated imo
I have to agree, not giving David Bowie, the greatest glam rock artist of all time, a song in a tv special with musical numbers was one of the biggest missed opportunities in the history of the show
Yeah, I mean, at least in Truth or Square where they got P!nk in, she got to do a song in it, even though the special wasn't really a musical and the song she preforms wasn't actually all that good.
I hate how spongebob cares more about jellyfish fields than his favorite restaurant he works at is at risk of going out of business. Maybe that’s why the episode is hated.
Yeah, I believe that the song saved the special from being on the Worst list. But I still try to avoid it because the live-action segments are kinda boring. Basically, they're a complete waste of my time. "Please, just go back to the animation" I kept thinking to myself.
same here... i mean they are trying to make it more modern and stuff but i still miss the games i and if i want to play a certain game i need to look real hard for a site that has no copyrite thing on it.... bring back the games nick plz!
Dunces and Dragons is the funniest SpongeBob special to me! It has so many fantastic moments, like SpongeBob “getting the point”, SpongeBob imitating Squidward, Squidly’s songs (especially The King is Bad), the fight with Sandy, and especially the stairs scene. That one makes me wheeze so hard! 😆😆😆
4:31 You know, Plankton sure has a knack for creating memorable robotic versions of SpongeBob. By my count, this is Mark III, and it’s pretty effective.
Ironically the song "A Chance Like This" is one of my most favorite songs of all time from Spongebob. It got me through some rough times and I just kept going back to it for some reason. Although Truth or Square wasn't anything of note, for some reason that song just stuck with me through the years long after viewing the episode.
@@RoxNoAnne ok maybe the word hate wasn't the best word to describe "the spongebob who could fly" it's not an episode for a worst of list. It's just one of the more less popular episodes from season 1-3.
Patchy's breakdown is one of the best scenes in the entire show. For me, that puts the episode into the realm of SpongeBob's best. Though I'm actually glad to hear I'm not the only one who found the cartoon part of the episode to be surprisingly uninspired―I never understood why the songs have to suck so much, they're just poorly written and joyless. But again, "All of it! _All of it!"_ is delivered so perfectly that that bit is one of the first things I think of when I think of the show. Tom Kenny is a legend
I actually really loved Atlantis Squearpantis. It was a very creative and fun episode to watch and I especially loved the part where they go into that retro video game thing.
Am I the only one who likes "Legend of Bikini Bottom" series, like all of the episodes, I like that type of aesthetic and story telling and it's pretty unique when compared to the other Spongebob episodes.
The live action segments for "truth or square" were different for me, it was about Patchy trying to get spongebob on his show, who else had these live action sections.
It was the same for me as well. Plus to me Spongebob,Patrick,Sandy,Mr krabs, Squidward and plankton having flash backs and all that was charming to me. Plus the fourth wall break where 2 people are recording them and they’re spotted and they run off is great
People keep saying the episodes after the movie are the worst, but they forgot about the episode like Have You Seen This Snail. That episode is enough to making me cry, I don't even have a pet!
Christmas Who. That is my second favorite episode next to Band Geeks. 💜🎄 Squidward is my absolute favorite character and possibly he's my favorite cartoon character of all time. 💜🐙 Feral Friends (though a lot of people seem to like that episode for some reason) and Spongecano (never saw that episode) have got to be the 2 of the worst " let's make Squidward unlikeable and despicable just to justify his comeuppance/demise at the end." Yawn...Yawn.... I see Squidward more as wrathful than miserable. He is a volcano himself. And was a volcanic super hero at one point which was cool. But a lot of the writers don't know how to write interesting and inspired stories that have him as somewhat the focus like the previous good writers did. Mr. Lawrence, I'm looking at YOU. In the beginning Squidward was made to be the butt of the joke I get that, but now he's graduated from being the butt of the joke to now being the scapegoat of Spongebob Squarepants. He's really become the Meg of Spongebob and it's so freaking aggravating to see...Not to mention PREDICTABLE. No telling where they're going to take this musical spin-off he's supposedly getting...
Top 5: 5: Ugh 4: Party pooper pants 3: Have you seen this snail 2: Dunces and dragons 1: Friend or foe Bottom 5: 5: Ghoul fools 4: Whobob whatpants 3: Spongebob you're fired 2: Truth or square 1: Atlantis squarepantis
I don’t know if The game truth or square came out before or after the special but to me the truth or square game will be the original. I also did like truth or square as a special
10:00 Actually the original scene was in the season one episode, "Sleepy Time" when Spongy is in Plankton's dream and he's about to get stepped on by Plankton, he turned into a pin when Plankton stepped on him, then he said, "I think he's got the point"
Slightly unrelated, I know this video came out some years ago, but when I was watching the "Gary Come Home" part, my cat jumped up on my desk with me and is purring.
How exactly does it send that message though? And what ways does it use to teach them to take care of the environment? Cuz when I watched it, all the environment stuff seemed cliche and repetitive and that's a very lame way to do something like that in my opinion, but I really wanna hear about the good from it cuz id like that perspective, it's just hard for me to find right now
Nathan Dixon it might seem repetitive because people are protesting the same thing over and over again. and it’s a good cliche if we’re talking about saving the environment
I liked Atlantis Squarepantis, but the songs dragged on after a while, and not having David Bowie sing is going down in history as one of the biggest missed opportunities ever.
"Have You Seen This Snail" tugs at my heartstrings because of what happened to my old cat Fuzzy one time. She was locked in out neighbor's shed for over a month with no food or water. Before she was locked in there, she hated us because we messed with her so much. I'm guessing she tried to run away or something. We still don't know how she survived, and it took her years to recover. My dad thought she was dead and threw out her litter box. After we found her, though, she was a lot nicer to us and we stopped messing with her. It seemed like she appreciated us more than before. Even if she is a scrawny old goblin child we still love her dearly, even if she doesn't know it.

The most interesting part of Atlantis Squarepantis is actually a 3-second sound effect that appears in the 8-bit scene. When Squidward, SpongeBob and Patrick are running away from the germs, you can hear… Wait a minute. I know that sound. Isn’t that…? - RAH - KAH - - TAE! Yes, that is actually the same exact sound they used. I have no idea what this means, but that is a legitimately cool Easter Egg I wasn’t aware of first time watching; I didn’t even catch it first time.

Well, it says Gary gets “Snail-napped” in it, but I do get where you’re coming from
The walk cycle bit was honestly more memorable than the actual special
Let’s be real, the only reason party pooper pants didn’t make the worst list is because “Underwater Sun” is the most underrated spongebob song
DOWN DOWN DOWN!
*starts singing the lyrics out loud*
@@daroldcarold3443 To the bottom of the sea.
Yeah, I believe that the song saved the special from being on the Worst list. But I still try to avoid it because the live-action segments are kinda boring. Basically, they're a complete waste of my time. "Please, just go back to the animation" I kept thinking to myself.
No what r u talking about? That was 10/10 great special episode
Who remembers Nickelodeon had games back then?
BP PrettyTreeYT I do
The only reason I was interested in SpongeBob you're fired is because of the game.
same here... i mean they are trying to make it more modern and stuff but i still miss the games i and if i want to play a certain game i need to look real hard for a site that has no copyrite thing on it.... bring back the games nick plz!
Spongebob BFBB remake boiiiiiii

Let’s not forget that legend of bookinki bottom canonized the 2nd movie and squidward having abs

I thought you said "feet"
Dunces and Dragons is the funniest SpongeBob special to me! It has so many fantastic moments, like SpongeBob “getting the point”, SpongeBob imitating Squidward, Squidly’s songs (especially The King is Bad), the fight with Sandy, and especially the stairs scene. That one makes me wheeze so hard! 😆😆😆
yes! i also think it’s funny how they talk sometimes. “me thinks it’s muttontastic!” “does thou talketh to me?”
"Christmas Who?" Is one of my all time favourite Spongebob episodes.
Little known fact: Atlantis Squarpantis was a musical in disguise.
Also was made in to a video game
Just not a good onee
How was it in disguise?
*We all know that*
@@thegreatfusili4673 Because the ads never mentioned it.
The christmas one, the one that Spongebob sings “Don’t be a jerk”
I always watched that when I was little :) it was my favorite.
"David Bowie from Labyrinth" "The guy who did 'Dance Magic' "
*ouch* that hurt my Bowiedom hard, my friend.
How can he be from the UK and not know who he was?
GaGa for SaGa I thought Strider was Australian?
I mean the guy wrote freakin space oddity and Under pressure
Don’t forget that Christmas who has probably one of the best comebacks/Roasts and that apparently MR Krabs can hit those high notes
Gee squidward, maybe Santa will bring me a dictionary so I can understand what you just said!
The gross out joke in the spongebob who pants looks like spongebob the truth creepypasta but without the blood speewing out of his eyes.
*tries not to throw up* Oh... that exists... 🤢
"David Bowie from Labyrinth"
Oh Strider, you have no idea
I was thinking the same thing. He’s one of the greatest rock stars of all time.
I mean he IS from Labyrinth
RIP David Bowie aka Ziggy stardust
@@Yankee-_-DOODLE23 More like The Starman
He’s essentially playing a Blue Meanie
I agree WHY DIDN'T THEY GIVE DAVID BOWIE A SONG
4:31 You know, Plankton sure has a knack for creating memorable robotic versions of SpongeBob. By my count, this is Mark III, and it’s pretty effective.
Ironically the song "A Chance Like This" is one of my most favorite songs of all time from Spongebob. It got me through some rough times and I just kept going back to it for some reason. Although Truth or Square wasn't anything of note, for some reason that song just stuck with me through the years long after viewing the episode.
And it's just a song from the Spongebob movie.
That is a fantastic song! I loved it as a kid and I still love it
The “have you seen this snail” episode actually made me cry.
Dunces and dragons is literally the best episode of spongebob I’ve ever seen! Literally watched it this morning.
I actually personally like the sponge who could fly!
DaNoob same
I do to ! Why is it so hated, it's funny
I enjoyed it too
@@mustafamohamad4876 I didn't know that anyone hated this episode until PhantomStrider dishonourably mentioned it.
@@RoxNoAnne ok maybe the word hate wasn't the best word to describe "the spongebob who could fly" it's not an episode for a worst of list. It's just one of the more less popular episodes from season 1-3.
I always remember something about SpongeBob.....
*THE COPS ARE PATHETIC....*

I can imagine how Tom Kenny was sick & tired of Spongebob back in season 7.
I actually really loved Atlantis Squearpantis. It was a very creative and fun episode to watch and I especially loved the part where they go into that retro video game thing.
Dunces and Dragons is basically just a western Isekai (anime sub genre) done right and I love every minute of it
Am I the only one who likes "Legend of Bikini Bottom" series, like all of the episodes, I like that type of aesthetic and story telling and it's pretty unique when compared to the other Spongebob episodes.
i also liked them I just didn’t like the one about the toxic waste monster or the hillbilly one
I love them
Unfortunately, the only one I've seen is trenchbillies
The trenchbillies one was a bit weird for me when I was a kid, but i liked them otherwise. Very nostalgic.
I like every episode
The live action segments for "truth or square" were different for me, it was about Patchy trying to get spongebob on his show, who else had these live action sections.
Trevor Ragan yes I never got patchy trying to get spongebob on the show
It was the same for me as well. Plus to me Spongebob,Patrick,Sandy,Mr krabs, Squidward and plankton having flash backs and all that was charming to me. Plus the fourth wall break where 2 people are recording them and they’re spotted and they run off is great
I didn't watch live-action segments
There's 2 Versions Of The Segments
People keep saying the episodes after the movie are the worst, but they forgot about the episode like Have You Seen This Snail.
That episode is enough to making me cry, I don't even have a pet!
Almost everything after Stephen left the show was bad.
I always cry on "Have You Seen This Snail?"
And "Bubble Bowl" gets me hyped!
"Christmas Who?" is also one of my favorite episodes.
I’m confused as to why you didn’t point out Bowie’s musical legacy.😂
Probably the fact that he didn’t sing in the special
Yeah I mean, he is a rock star before he's an actor.
@@classic_jam yes
mans was the greatest rock star of all time, and did not get a song.
Bowie wrote the man who sold the world, that alone is enough for him to at least get a song imo
Unironically Spongebob's last stand is one of my favorite specials. It was just fun to watch when nothing else was on
What’s really ironic is that the best Spongebob Special is the very first spongebob special.
Squidward may be the most miserable resident in Bikini Bottom, but he has a good heart.
Squidward - best character in this show.
I am completely agree with you!
Christmas Who. That is my second favorite episode next to Band Geeks. 💜🎄
Squidward is my absolute favorite character and possibly he's my favorite cartoon character of all time. 💜🐙
Feral Friends (though a lot of people seem to like that episode for some reason) and Spongecano (never saw that episode) have got to be the 2 of the worst " let's make Squidward unlikeable and despicable just to justify his comeuppance/demise at the end." Yawn...Yawn....
@@YumegakaMurakumo Poor guy!
@Caiden Agreed!
That first Christmas special will always have a place in my heart where I get to watch it every year multiple times a year, and never get sick of it.
Guide to watching the lost episode: just watch the patchy segments
Agreed
Lol
Kyle Dunton I never liked the patchy segments there. While being somewhat funny, the flow was awful and it was really just filler
I was terrified of the patchy segments when I was little. I'd always hide until it was over.

13:12 That line got a chuckle from me.
Me too. The legendary GOOD QUOTE has been found
10:00 Actually the original scene was in the season one episode, "Sleepy Time" when Spongy is in Plankton's dream and he's about to get stepped on by Plankton, he turned into a pin when Plankton stepped on him, then he said, "I think he's got the point"

They gave everyone a song except the guy who David Bowie played DAVID BOWIE THE ROCKSTAR
SpongeBob's last stand might be a bad special but it did bring out a message about pollution and standing up for the environment.
I have to agree
Except it was cliche af and basically every preachy environmental message episode in a cartoon in a nutshell.
Kinda but it felt pushed to the side because "oh boy Plankton wants the formula"
@@nintendex9288 Me, the environmentalist:
I take offense, but you make a fair point.
‘Dunces and dragons’ seems like a good fanfic.
Slightly unrelated, I know this video came out some years ago, but when I was watching the "Gary Come Home" part, my cat jumped up on my desk with me and is purring.
but, the 5th worst one does send a nice message to kids telling them to take care of the environment
EVERYONE LIKED THIS COMMENT
How exactly does it send that message though? And what ways does it use to teach them to take care of the environment?
Cuz when I watched it, all the environment stuff seemed cliche and repetitive and that's a very lame way to do something like that in my opinion, but I really wanna hear about the good from it cuz id like that perspective, it's just hard for me to find right now
Nathan Dixon it might seem repetitive because people are protesting the same thing over and over again. and it’s a good cliche if we’re talking about saving the environment
Whats the difference between a high man and “Spongebob, you’re fired!”?
A high man has some substance inside him.
I liked Atlantis Squarepantis, but the songs dragged on after a while, and not having David Bowie sing is going down in history as one of the biggest missed opportunities ever.
@@a.becker6216 very well said
"Have You Seen This Snail" tugs at my heartstrings because of what happened to my old cat Fuzzy one time.
Remembering David Bowie for his acting rather than his music is a sin.
whats a sin

The most interesting part of Atlantis Squarepantis is actually a 3-second sound effect that appears in the 8-bit scene. When Squidward, SpongeBob and Patrick are running away from the germs, you can hear…
Wait a minute.
