You caused people who saw the video to grow a need to mention it in the comments which riled the engagement value of your video in youtube's eyes among other things.
My theory for the game is that the oranges are going through the game to be ripe enough to be sold. I did some digging and if my research is correct, ethylene is a stress horomone. Ethylene is also the reason fruits ripen. So by playing many games of russian roulette inside a prison (or some similar holding spot where the orange speaks when not playing) that would be stressful, causing them to ripen. The orange also admits to this by "they" saying they aren't ready. Who is this they that is selling them? I would guess Manta, based on the poster on the wall. Manta sounds like Fanta, which produces orange soda. Granted, this doesn't explain why they came here or why some of the fruits look weird.
Wow, you did your research, makes sense too I personally think the weird looking oranges are because of the protagonist hallucinating after playing one too many games and going nuts or dehumanizing others to cope with killing people (or deorangizing argahaha)
There’s been a more “modernized’ game of this. It has more lore. From the game itself basically the oranges lost the war of apples I think. In order to “ripen” them up, they did the Russian roulette game to indeed just sell them. This might not be canon but I think it’s pretty good. Oh and in the new game it did show the the organs guy you play as was going insane from what I see it seems like not everything he sees is from his insanity or hallucination and is actually real. Could be his hallucination because in the last round you get 5 lives and on the last life, who ever dies with the last life gets an extra life while you get revived. Same thing if you shoot the opponent. Now from what I know this could just be him killing multiple oranges in one sitting and him shooting himself was just his hallucination when in reality it was either an empty shot and the apples spun it or they loaded blank bullets in the revolver knowing the orange you play as has enough PTSD and insanity to where he hears the blanks going off as real gunshots. If this doesn’t make sense yet uh okay the modernized version. Not sure what it’s called though sorry :(
Honestly, the fact that the characters show so much emotion while still looking cartoonish is impressive as hell the hesitation they both make when making a decision is genuinely such a good design choice and makes you feel like your actually in a life or death situation
The music and ambient made it worse than Buckshot Roulette. Instead of you are in the gambling game, plenty of items to secure your life, playing with the dealer on the fast-rhythm music below the stair. You are in the room with nothing but a revolver, shoot yourself? Spin? Or shoot him, limited choices are harder than various choices. Anyhow, the music makes you tremble and obsess. That's the difference. Buckshot Roulette makes you feel like you are an addicted gambler who always bet their life for money, so this time just another time (like a dead person reincarnated, they will no longer feel suppressed with death). Orange Roulette makes you feel like you are a victim in a cruel game, who wants to live, not to be "sold", the way oranges reluctantly pull the trigger had said that.
It's funny because while BuckShot Roulette tries to give a spooky atmosphere with the creepy host and the poly graphics, Orange Roulette is scary in itself, it's visceral and bizarre, like a fever dream. Things like the details in the facial gestures and the soundtrack.
I think Buckshot Roulette suffers (or benefits) for the same reasons Inscryption does When you first open the game, it's unknown, untested, you enter new territory, and every other of your steps could loose you a game But later... when it's your tenth session, or if you watched somebodys tenth session - you know what will happen, you know how to make use of your items, and your choices have no panic in them, only cold calculations, or may I put it in other words... You know the drill
The fear of this game is that you can actively COUNT the shots, and when you get to low amounts, it's a 50/50 split of whether you're getting out of here, or you're getting Baja Blasted.
