I run a 24 on my 590 as well. I did get an o ring kit and put one on the inside of the filter and outside of the filter mount, and a small one on the screw shaft. It does help keep the fine particles to a minimum.
Thank you for watching my video, and thank you as well for giving me feedback on that I was willing to look into that for future reference as well. I’m very glad that it was successful for 20 dollars I thought
Ive been a commercial cutter 40 years best saw ever i did a government cut they bought me a 590 timberwolf at first I thought good a new boat anchor until i tryed it my crew wont use our sthil or husky unless someone grabs them first
Seth, I have the 590. I put the Redbeard filter on mine. Bolted write on. 24 inch bar. Full house and skip. Runs good with either one. The filter actually changed the sound of the saw. Haven't done anything other than that to it. But the saw was running a little a just a little better. I really like the saw. At this point, I will be letting Aaron Lynch turn it into the 620. Possibly a little better.
I've had my 590 with 24" bar about 6mo. I'm no pro just enjoy cutting and splitting. I'm in the process of cutting up a large red oak (5'-3" base of trunk) for a friend. I asked my sales/service guy about the outside dog and he said the cover, tensioner, guide, and sprocket would need to be changed to accommodate the steel cover that holds the outside dog. Is this your experience?
I am 6'3' and 69 years old. I own a Husqvarna 440E and because of its lack of power, it takes me too long to buck trees for firewood. I'm hoping the Echo cs 590 will help me. What do you think?
i ran a 280 for about 10 years it was a fine saw no problems with it then i bought my 590 wolf with a 20 on it and so far about 4 years now the wolf is hard to beat i get a log load every year or so and i love that saw
Only engine is bone stock on mine.I got longer bar studs, double spikes, roller chain catcher, gutted can W 3/4 ID outlet pipe, 620 carb.rejetted, rim sprocket, 24 bar, 20 bar, added rubber bushings with the AV springs and gonna get 18 bar.
Got my 590 with a 24" bar. 1 day in, cuts good, little workhorse. I dont like the plastic handle bar, or the chain sprocket. Or the 1 log spike setup. But, those dont take away too much from a good saw, I have a 450 ranch. Its good too, but it has tiny little chain, echo has the 3/8 .050 "normal" saw chain. 😂 its good got it on sale $405 to the house. With 24"bar. Definitely worth it for a small firewood co.
Great honest review! I think Is the second time I watch this video. I’m eyeing up one of these chainsaws to add to the fleet. I like the idea of it having low end torque cause I find a lot of the new saws like that.
I've got one ordered. Should be here in a week or so. All reviews I've seen are positive. I worked on a danger tree crew for Asplundh for 10 years and one of the first things we did when we got a new saw was take the dogs off. They hinder more than help especially if your in thick brush
590 all day great saw it will smoke the 450 rancher I had one of those few years ago and hated it greatly, 271 is ok saw but I’d recommend the 590 with 20 for the price I think you will be happy sir
I have owned many saws over the years, I have found echo 590 or 620 to be the best in this class. Stihl and husqvarna are good also, but the echos I have owned and used commercially, in my personal experience they are a shade better. 24 inch bar Stihl and husky use 84 dl, Echo uses 81 dl. So make sure you double check the chain package, I'm going to buy a new 590 for firewood cutting, my old 620 finally kicked the bucket.
Sweet and yes you were right about the chains. Yeah Echo has now two different styles 84 for the 590 that you can get an 81 Drive links they use on everything else that has a 24.
From what ive read manual does not recommend more than a 24in bar so i would not put a 28in bar on this saw. But i do like it alot but i went with the stihl 271 works better for me i dont have that big of trees to deal with i hope if i do i know other people with bigger saws than the 590. Great video
Echo manual states 18, 20, 24, 27” bar lengths. I wouldn’t run over 24” though. 590 is a mag split case with bolt-on cylinder non-strato. Stihl ms271 is a plastic clamshell strato homeowner saw.
@@danielpadgett2831 yeah that’s right farm & ranch. My buddies 271 is really weak but it does seem a hair stronger than a 450 rancher as 50cc class saws. Page 57 of 60 in the CS-590 Timberwolf operation manual, specifications, guide bar. Good rule of thumb though is CC / 2.5 = Max bar length imo.
I love my echo 590 my only complaint is its pretty heavy for its displacement. My father has a husqvarna 372xp and that's a 70cc saw and it's a hair lighter than my 590.

@@sethoutdoors9192 thanks, and if I can get through a log much faster my back won't hurt so much. Tall people and chainsaws don't mix.
Agreed for me long bars help
It will blow away that husqvarna 440E, and any of the 450/455/460/465 ranchers.
@zeromark202 oh, yes for sure

Oh yes absolutely for a small Firewood operation. That’s a perfect so that’s what I started my Firewood operation with more when I got this saw.

@Outdoors with Seth nice, I'll stick with the 81 dl, haven't gone to buy one yet, but I have so many chains for it
Get the Echo, throws chips at the 450/455/460/465 ranchers & ms271/291/311/391 plastic clamshells.

For the 24" bar I run a husqvarna C83 chain Full Chisel. These are great chains.

Do you have the EBay link for that protection piece at the bottom of the saw?
I think I just typed in Echo CS 590 bottom protectors what it was listed as
