    League night is for fun and very rec. It's something for us has-been's to do to help stay active. I don't get why people are hating. It's better than sitting on a couch drinking beer. At least we're drinking beer and hitting bombs. hahaha.

      So only the guys that play u-trip tournaments are the real thing in softball. Come on. Let these guys have their fun. I’ve seen a bunch of u-trip tournaments and played in a few and those feels ain’t big either , plus it’s underhand pitch nothing to be proud of.

      @@PerfSpec well have fun! But if you don't mind I'll give you a little bit of advice. First of all the field doesn't look very big not taking anything away from your home runs that are bombs! It looks to me like you're probably playing in the lower division, if there is more than one division offered. So it looks like every pitch you hit was a grooved beach ball. He'll probably learn that you're skill level is above the ones you were playing with for the most part and you'll eventually move up if you like the game. So learn how to hit singles, doubles through the five six through the three four in the gaps line drives piss ropes straight blazers. Cause a better picture will get you to pop up. So if this is your game and your gig take some matting practice watch some videos on how to hit correctly not just a jimmy jack swing! I used to love this game and I played for probably 15 years and the game started getting boring we had it where it was a lot of fun back in the day local 4th of July tournament there would be 132 teams from all over the Southeast Now they'd be good to get 132 teams from the entire nation. Supposed people couldn't leave well enough alone and everybody wanted to hit the home run. So they started cutting bats shaving them down so any 125 lb want to be bomber could hit a home run. The people started getting hurt because of these illegal bats that sucks cuz I love that game! Keep hitting that brother feel like it Do it good Do it right take some bat and practice!

      @@olddognewtricks2818 to be clear, I posted the video of my son, so it’s his game, not mine. I wasn’t that good. 😂. He played High School baseball, then 4 years on a baseball scholarship in college. After a year break, a friend asked him to play in the local softball league. They don’t have divisions in this rec league, and some teams are much better than others. He adjusted quickly. I only posted the homers, but he did lead the team in total hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, batting and slugging. They have a 3 home run rule per team per game in this league, so for most of his ABs, he wasn’t swinging for the fence. He played in a couple competitive tournaments so far, and has nearly the same performance, albeit the defensive play is so much better (and more enjoyable to watch). For me, it’s fun to just watch him play and enjoy the game. Having said that, I appreciate your perspective, and am starting to understand the different skill set needed for success in softball.

    • @ballfield
      @ballfield  3 роки тому

      I've seen the rec league here limit home runs to 3 per game. In tournaments I've seen it vary from 1 per game to 10 per game on a big field. The penalty for hitting over the limit is usually and out, but can also be an automatic end of inning, which is what it is in the local league.

    • @itinkle
      @itinkle 3 роки тому +1

      @@ballfield wow, I like that one. I've heard a rule in the states for rec ball, if you hit 1 out, you're out end of the inning. Plus everytime you come up later in the game, auto out.

      No homeruns seems a bit restrictive, but maybe on a short field it would keep the game going. With a limit of one, at least it becomes strategic on when to use it.

      I played Major 20 year's ago when it was real. I left the game when the bats became too hot to touch. When a 175lb dude could hit a dinger 375 with a loaded bat. It was time to leave, as did all the original greats. If you put a Worth Gold TPS in anyone's hands today, they'd be fortunate to hit a ball 300 ft. Just saying.
