Played Florida Senior Softball for years. Occasional home run. Then a decision was made to go from .47 COR balls to .40 COR balls. The big young slow pitch guys were using .50 COR balls. For some reason, guys that weigh over 250 lbs, hit more home runs. Nice to see the Space Coast USSSA stadium completed. Maybe there will be an over 80 tournament.
I think the fact that it is slow pitch so the pitcher is not providing any of the power therefore it is all up to the hitter. A guy like Altuve at 5'5"ish 155 would never hit as many home runs as the big guys in slow pitch softball even though he has 17 at the all-star break this year.
These giys waste homeruns with solo shots. Smart teams get the guys who cant keep in the park to eventially run out of homeruns in later innings. Have umpired 1,000s of these games. Between the rolled bats and higher core balls these games are boring.

Limited arch 12’ . Most of these Home Runs are off the same pitcher. EX college and semi pro players. A+ players. Good thing they limited the Home Runs per innings or the game would take to long to finish. lol
That is mid america ballyard which are adult men's slowpitch fields 300 feet. High school softball fields are 200 feet. Maybe they had a temp fence up for your sister's game.
One time I officiated a softball game in a tournament and 11 or 12 batters in a row hit home runs. We were in an open field and batters would point in the direction that they were going to hit the ball and then hit it over the outfields head or too far infield for them to catch it.
That's why this sport fucking sucks at the top level. Bunch of middle-aged roid-ragers playing a kids game. If you're gonna hit 11 home runs in a row, it's clearly not a game of talent anymore its just brute strength. Go compete in a lifting contest or something and stop destroying the game of baseball.

Can someone explain the Home run rule? I heard from my dad that at one point Home Runs are automatic outs and that they don’t have to run the bases either. Is that also in play in these tournaments
This is conference usssa where teams can hit 8 to 16 hr per game and the smoky mountain classic is unlimited. But all of softball is hit and sit. No one wants to see players run the bases

When I played Ball back about a dozen years ago now, the amount of HRs teams were hitting was beginning to get ridiculous. I see that it's only increased 10-fold. I played in a league where you get 1 Hr per inning, then they tried the first two players to hit HRs in a game, were the ONLY ones allowed to hit them. Anyone else it's an OUT. Then one season I played in a field with no fences... definitely a different feeling with no fence.😕
I played in a league like that. 1 HR per game mostly. We also would do 1 pitch tournaments. Moved the game along so more teams could enter. Hit it , walk if it's a ball and fouls were outs. Pretty fun
The pitchers have 5 seconds to pitch each pitch and are trying to get the batter to miss the sweet spot on the bat by a fraction of an inch to give their defense a chance to make a play.

Them doing that makes no difference in the way the ball is coming over the plate and the location the batters hit it on the bat. I think it’s to mess with the timing, because sometimes they do they pump fakes and sometimes they’ll go fast. I’ve faced pitchers who did that in baseball (change pitching rhythm). It’s actually quite effective, because as a hitter, you can never get the right timing down.
