Funny, I never use it. It has it merits, but I prefer Equipment refresh on kill, fast GK and longer GK state. My style fits absolute spam of every equipment option - all nades, flamebelch, with upgrades it refreshes like every 5-10 seconds. Constant stream of armor+health, plus constant staggers from concussive nades. It's glorious.
Loved it in 2016 but never used it much aside from speedruns (it was broken, you could climb a mountain in res ops and more lol). For one, it came in mid game. And this time we can get it early! I wish it was the normal movement.
I see PC users switch weapons so fast and on PS4 it's just too damn slow. I have to use my weapon wheel most of the time because clicking R1 just takes forever
I played Doom 2016 first on my ps4 then bought it on my laptop which ran at like 20-40 fps and it still felt better to me. I built my first PC because of Eternal and I don't regret it.
Destroyer Blade's biggest function is in Battlemode. It goes through walls and hits for about 900 damage with a generous hitbox. Keep in mind Revenant/Marauder have 2000HP before Upgrades/damage reduction. It also lets you keep fast movement while charging up, so you can be more agile than you'd expect setting up game changing damage.

The best part about it is that it can also help skip certain areas. If you have the rune in the super gore nest you can meathook skip up to the buff totem, get the speed boost and jump across the chasm to get to the other building its too cool
Having just finished my play through of Doom 2016 in Brawler Mode (with some modifiers, mainly because I love Gauss boosting. Oh, and no ammo upgrades), this video has fallen right on my doorstep, I love it.

Mayo feels like I'm watching my favorite streamer delivering constantly good content to keep the game discussion (mostly D:E) and Civvie's videos feel like classic films for FPS fiends to reminisce or look forward to. the killing blow perk that saves you once is a life saver for me, I don’t think I’d be so pumped to play doom without it. it’s like a safety net, but for when I fuck up and blood punch the fodder next to the cyber mancubus.

I like your approach here you're not condemning playstyles only advertising your favorites and i LOVE how you incorporate playstyles that you love to use. Overall a great guide and some good tips on evaluating your arena.
Interesting vid. First off I play on easy and am a filthy casual, but I use chrono, equipment fiend and dazed. I use sniper shot for weak points/Makyr drones using chrono and I rarely use sticky bomb to save my shotgun ammo for meathook and super shotgun, since with armour for blood, armour drops are always useful, since if you're at full armour they recharge blood punch, and if blood punch is fully charged, just use a blood punch and they'll immediately help you recharge a new one. I'll sometimes blood punch a faltered/frozen enemy 3-4 times in rapid succession because there were enough armour and health drops nearby (from glory kills and frozen kills) that I could just chain them together. Since drops stay on the field for a decent amount of time (at least 30-40s I think) this playstyle (equipment fiend + freeze and igniting most enemies) means if I take damage I will passively heal just from absorbing drops as I move around a fight area. I'm sure such close range gameplay is more risky on harder difficulties. An argument for Chrono Strike isn't just for sniper shots (or sticky bombs on weak spots), but you can do a tiny hop to activate the effect and then deploy a turret chaingun for more accurate bursts against tough enemies/bosses while on the ground or while in the air, and it will sometimes help me line up a lock on rocket shot if I'm moving fast and so is the enemy (e.g. a whiplash).
I love the "build your player" aspect of the first couple rune and suit upgrades. There could probably be a 30-minute video on just the suit upgrades. Blood Fueled players probably save the dash fill upgrade for later to focus on hot swapping and barrel invuln, other players might go for dash or grenade upgrades straight away.
I love the glory kill on the Marauder where the Marauder stops your punch with his right hand and then Doom Slayer pulls out the blade on his wrist right in the face on the Marauder, fucking badass!
Love your Doom videos man, they showcase how diverse each play style can be. Full auto on the combat shotgun is great for groups of frozen enemies after getting Flamebelched. When it's fully upgraded it spits out shotgun ammo too. Give it a try some time if you find yourself in front of a big group of frozen enemies. The rune allowing fast movement after glory kills is a great one too. Keep up the great content man!

I really like your video with the mass amount of info you give. Doom eternal is a really fun game and I have yet to complete it. I've started using the remote detonation on my rocket launcher now and it's helped me with a lot of heavy demons. Thanks for being an amazing channel to help new player and others. Also. Love the Marauder. He's my favorite demon of all time. I haven't gotten to him yet but the way he looks and his lore and the presence he gives off is really cool. Thanks again mayo. This was great btw, thanks. :) Btw, I don’t use Air Control, Chrono-Strike, or Dazed and Confused specifically for how broken they are and how they are somehow unavailable in Battlemode. I can find a purpose for every mod and essentially find myself swapping mods more frequently that most except the Microwave Beam. I don’t know exactly how to use it yet, or at least that’s what I believe at the moment, and I’m not really one to go out of my comfort zone. But I am kind-of-ish working on that flaw. The Marauder was easy for me the first time, but my early Nightmares were Mancubi and Whiplashes. After my early stages where I’m in a stage of trying and learning new things the Tyrant, Pain Elemental and occasionally the Cacodemon also became my Achilles Heels on top of the Mancubi and Whiplashes. But at this point, the only demons I freak out on are Gargoyles and Whiplashes. At the end of the day, my goal is to become the most efficient and invulnerable Slayer that I can possibly become.
Hey Mayo, Thank you for giving your perspective on your gameplay strategies. This helps out alot of comparing my experiences with yours or others for say. This will definitely influence me more to find strats and mess around to have a good muscle memory mechanic to be cautious, competitive in right senarios, and setting a WHOMBO COMBO list for ways to set faster attacks. Also, by analyzing all but specific enemies to whats their strengths and weaknesses. This video help me out ALOT of being VERY IMFORMATIVE. Thanks Mayo.
That chainsaw tip is golden! So often I lose track of blood punch & /or grenades. I always used to use ballista arbalest mod only, then I saw a video on how to charge it up during air time, and honestly it is a super powerful mod if you practice that type of move enough. Can 1 shot kill or stagger several hell knights and ravanants in one shot.
I'm not as skilled as you, but watching your videos motivates me to challenge myself and study up on ways to get better. That's become the most enjoyable part of my Doom Eternal experience!
Using a controller on pc (beat nightmare) i found chrono strike with with precision bolt insanely useful so i can ensure i take out weak points when needed. Great videos man
Loved the video. There are some similarities and differences between our playstyles. So first and foremost i use the rocket lock on mod on revenants, hell knights, whiplashes, barons of hell, arch viles, and tyrants. If there are 2 barons in a room, i'll use the 3 rocket bursts with a ssg shot to take one down, then kill the other with the chaingun. I'll often use 4 rocket bursts on tyrants with a couple ssg shots. I glory kill quite often too, and chainsaw frequently for ammo. As for fodder, i like to use my ssg a lot on them, and you can hit multiple at once with 1 shot. I also meat hook a lot for armour. I don't meathook/glory kill as much as you. If i find myself low on health or armour, i like to freeze bomb, flame belch then rocket a big group of fodder. I don't feel the need to ever switch to remote detonation, as the splash from a regular rocket is enough to kill a big group of fodder. I also don't feel the need to falter enemies that often, though the ssg does a good job on that. Archviles for me is just 1 ice bomb and 2 rocket bursts. As for marauders, i like to use the ice bomb combined with rocket bursts. The grenades also work as you can hit the marauder with rocket bursts after he is faltered from the grenade. If i don't have the option of either, i'll use the ssg/ballista quick switch on him. I kill pain elementals with 2 arbelest shots and one quick meathook ssg. I find that i can't get armour from the glory kill on them, even with savagery. 1 arbelest or sticky bomb for caco demons. I use the meathook and ssg on carcasses. I also like to focus down doom hunters with the chaingun, and finish it off with a rocket burst. As for my playstyle, i like to rush in a lot, killing demons as fast as i can. I'll often look for an advantageous spot in an arena to focus down tyrants, or if there are multiple hard hitting demons in the arena. For example in the master arc complex level, there's a nice vantage point in the purple goo area on the side of the building that the baron of hell comes through. As for weakpoints, i really couldn't care less about them. I can easily take down mancubi, arachnotrons and revenants with the ssg. Using the ssg on mancubi is a viable option, as it falters it, and will be in staggered state after 2 point blank ssg hits. Oh and the plasma rifle is my backup for fodder if i run out of ssg ammo. Lastly, i use savagery, air control, and blood fueled. Same reasons as you why i use savagery and air control. However, i use blood fueled as i really enjoy taking advantage of the speed boost after a glory kill. It lets me quickly move around an arena, avoiding hits and killing demons along the way. I never use any other rune. I feel like the increased stagger time is pointless since i can easily glory kill any enemy in an arena with a quick meathook, or just moving around the arena.
My gameplay has changed a lot lately thanks to your videos. Although I am a console player and sometimes find trouble at weapon swap (I can’t do any of the marauder humiliation combos, just ssg ballista), but I’ve been enjoying more the game now it’s super thrilling. Sometimes I see people just ssging everything and I’m like DOODE... why?! There are so many awesome things every weapon and mod is unique and can be used to create a wonderful doom dance
I really want to see you play halo combat evolved on legendary difficulty. The game is very strategic and has many ways to play. It isn't as fast pace as doom obviously but the game is really fun and i think it would be interesting watching you play
Yeah these doom style videos on any other singeplayer fps would be a must watch for me even if he is apparently not a fan of halo. Although I'm a huge fan of halo CE and would love to see it. Half life, bioshock or any other game would be awesome.

And the halo is more strategic than i think he gives it credit for but thats just a thought. Also out of the entire franchise halo ce is the best game to master as its fair and can be tackled in so many ways.
Genle CE was quite a blast on Legendary. It and Reach are what I would consider the staple Legendary experiences, though ODST and 4 are extremely fun! Then there’s Halo 2.

Mayo! One tip I wanted to throw in that has helped me a lot during ultra nightmare runs has been using a quick wrist-flick when flame belching. Your flame belch only needs to hit an enemy for a single frame to light them on fire, so I try to do a wide sweep as fast as I can so that I hit as many enemies as possible and maximize my potential for armor. It took a while to train myself to do it consistently but it really works
First of all, really good content man, you've gained my subscription. Air control really is super common, and I tend to use it combined with Chronostrike (because I'm somewhat good at quickscoping, and it also allows me to assess the chess board of every room quickly), and launching into Glory Kills from further away (because I like to move a lot so I use Glory Kills as a form of teleportation). As well, I try to keep Glory Kills long so that I'm invincible for a while. My personal preference is to use Blood Punch for Cyber Mancubi and if I'm pinned because it helps with that.
I really love the way doom eternal is set up. Every play style works when you practice. When I use new mods it's easy to say that they are underpowered but after practice, even with the microwave beam it gets pretty fun and useful when you fine tune the techniques.
Something I do really often is use the chainsaw to snap to enemies as a mobility tool. The chainsaw has surprising and can kinda be used as a third dash if you do so properly. Love your vids!

I really appreciate these videos. I love Eternal, but yeah, like a lot of folks, I had trouble with things like the Marauder. This stuff really helps me enjoy the game more.
I'll preface this by saying I've yet to play on Nightmare yet, I'm trying to get good on Ultra-Violence before I move on, and I would not be surprised if this does not work on Nightmare. But I like it when a Tyrant is in a fight. Whenever I get low on health or armor I just meat hook into them, give 'em a point blank shot, then move onto something else while I vacuum up the armor they drop. They telegraph their attacks so well and are slow enough that I can usually ignore them while focus on more troubling demons. Basically I treat them as a big walking armor shop I visit when I need to before returning to the rest of the fight.
Hey, you ever planning to make a followup to this video? A lot of your newer videos have you using different mods and strategies, and I feel like maybe an update video would be cool to learn what's changed.
Since i like glory killing a lot, launching into it from further away is pretty underrated. I don't like point blank range unless i know i can take them out, i like to make sure they are all nice and soft before i destroy them ;) Since i meep to meduim low to medium high range, being able to glory kill from further away is super cluch since i spend less time in a vulnerable position if my health is running low. Not to mention that it also gives you a boost and can get you away from corners the same way the chainsaw does, and gives you more space then you might think
Go for an ultra-nightmare run vid! I've just finished an extra-life mode nightmare and I died like 7 times. It's awesome, but I feel it's still not enough to go for Ultra-nightmare confidently, so I might use a footage of some VERY problematic arenas.
9:51 I'm glad I'm not the only one doing that. Occasionally, when I'm in a sticky situation, I'll chainsaw some fodder even if I have enough ammo, so that I have a few seconds to breathe and think about what to do next
My absolute favorite rune is the speed boost after a glory kill. It makes running through the more empty parts of the game faster if there's fodder along the way, it makes getting out of harm's way after a quick health/shield grab slot easier.
Just wanted to say that watching your videos and practicing got me my first Nightmare win. Working on Ultra nightmare now. I have a serious problem though, I am going to wear a hole in my shift key trying to dash in the first level. haha
What makes Eternal so great is that there are several play styles that are viable. I normally use slow motion rune, fast glory kills, and movement boost after glory kills. The "Doom Dance" is so important and speed is emphasized so I feel the balance of increased speed + slow motion aiming in the air is 100% needed. I also play on a controller, so definitely need all the advantage I can get.
The destroyer blade is my favourite mod, it's only useful in certain situations but when you fire a full charged blade that takes out 5 weak points in one shot it feels awesome
As you were explaining I kept flash back to your vids before this one. I kept repeating to myself "there's a purpose for that.." for everything you were doing on the field. Then repeating "I knew it!" When you were breaking it all down. I'm a more rigid brute when I play Doom Eternal. But I'm building up my own flow within. Got some practicing to do when I get back into it.
Using the chainsaw as a moment to think is a great way of putting it. Plus it's handy for the invulnerability. I've saved my own skin a few times by grabbing a chainsaw kill at the last second.
I have an interesting tip too, if you ever need health and have prowlers nearby. You can shoot them with a ballista, it instantly sets them to glory kill state. Also throw in a flame belch for good measure.
these are the mods i use full auto shotgun pb heavy cannon microwave beam (never use heat-blast) remote detonation destroyer blade (i dont see the use of areblest shot) both (chaingun)
i use the GK from further away, longer GK state and the speed boost after a GK, makes glory kill chains so fun and that speed boost is such a great help in a sticky situation. Also the destroyer blade has got to be my favourite mod, its charge up sound is like music to me, nothing more staisfying than killing three prowlers and a whiplash in one shot.
Mind blown about the remote detonation stagger to marauder in addition to shotgun/ballista duo. I already thought i had the tactic down well, this seems to make it even easier!!
My runes are usually Faster glory kill, longer glory kill ranger, and longer stagger. Plasma rifle is my go to for almost all situations just to build up that heat blast. Mostly I use the heat blast for the temporary damage boost on the rifle. Super shotgun gets reserved for resource collection. Nice to see you use the chain saw the same way I do.

My favorite playstyle is one based entirely off of bunnyhopping, which I haven't seen getting as much talk as it should get, because it honestly puts the combat on an even higher level imo. I'm not even into bhopping in like source games or anything like that but it's been one of my favorite aspects of the game since I started using it. For runes I like getting blood fueled (this is an absolute REQUIREMENT and it's always the first rune I get every playthrough), seek and destroy, and either savagery, dazed and confused, or maybe air control but I'm usually better at setting up bhops without it so I don't use it that often. I like using the plasma rifle as much as I can, charging up heat blast from a distance, getting a glory kill for the boost, then flinging myself at a group of enemies, firing the heat blast off and jumping away. With just a bit of practice (that I was able to get playing through hell on earth on ultra nightmare like 90 times because I'm terrible at the game) you basically have access to an alternate, no cooldown dash. It's honestly fucking crazy to me that I haven't seen people discussing it much, if at all, considering how fun it is, and I'd really like to see your thoughts on it

Air Mobility should be a Suit Upgrade rather than a Rune. Literally 98% of players have it permanently equipped.

Long stagger lets you chain GK like crazy.

I've finished the game 5 times by now, not once have I equipped air mobility rune. Tried that in Doom 16, and I've died more times because I've had it

Both channels are awesome, I have a similar spot for them. Mayo feels like I'm watching my favorite streamer delivering constantly good content to keep the game discussion (mostly D:E) and Civvie's videos feel like classic films for FPS fiends to reminisce or look forward to. I like how both, while undoubtedly entertaining, remain more gamers than "content creators" or journalists. Both be blessed
the killing blow perk that saves you once is a life saver for me, I don’t think I’d be so pumped to play doom without it. it’s like a safety net, but for when I fuck up and blood punch the fodder next to the cyber mancubus.

It was the most fun I've ever had in a single player game, and one of the reasons i could beat nightmare at all on my first playthrough was because of your videos! Much love fam

I like your approach here you're not condemning playstyles only advertising your favorites and i LOVE how you incorporate playstyles that you love to use. Overall a great guide and some good tips on evaluating your arena.
Interesting vid. First off I play on easy and am a filthy casual, but I use chrono, equipment fiend and dazed. I use sniper shot for weak points/Makyr drones using chrono and I rarely use sticky bomb to save my shotgun ammo for meathook and super shotgun, since with armour for blood, armour drops are always useful, since if you're at full armour they recharge blood punch, and if blood punch is fully charged, just use a blood punch and they'll immediately help you recharge a new one. I'll sometimes blood punch a faltered/frozen enemy 3-4 times in rapid succession because there were enough armour and health drops nearby (from glory kills and frozen kills) that I could just chain them together.
Since drops stay on the field for a decent amount of time (at least 30-40s I think) this playstyle (equipment fiend + freeze and igniting most enemies) means if I take damage I will passively heal just from absorbing drops as I move around a fight area.
I'm sure such close range gameplay is more risky on harder difficulties.
An argument for Chrono Strike isn't just for sniper shots (or sticky bombs on weak spots), but you can do a tiny hop to activate the effect and then deploy a turret chaingun for more accurate bursts against tough enemies/bosses while on the ground or while in the air, and it will sometimes help me line up a lock on rocket shot if I'm moving fast and so is the enemy (e.g. a whiplash).
I love the "build your player" aspect of the first couple rune and suit upgrades. There could probably be a 30-minute video on just the suit upgrades. Blood Fueled players probably save the dash fill upgrade for later to focus on hot swapping and barrel invuln, other players might go for dash or grenade upgrades straight away.

I love the glory kill on the Marauder where the Marauder stops your punch with his right hand and then Doom Slayer pulls out the blade on his wrist right in the face on the Marauder, fucking badass!

Full auto on the combat shotgun is great for groups of frozen enemies after getting Flamebelched. When it's fully upgraded it spits out shotgun ammo too.
Give it a try some time if you find yourself in front of a big group of frozen enemies.
The rune allowing fast movement after glory kills is a great one too.

I really like your video with the mass amount of info you give. Doom eternal is a really fun game and I have yet to complete it. I've started using the remote detonation on my rocket launcher now and it's helped me with a lot of heavy demons. Thanks for being an amazing channel to help new player and others. Also. Love the Marauder. He's my favorite demon of all time. I haven't gotten to him yet but the way he looks and his lore and the presence he gives off is really cool. Thanks again mayo. Btw, I don’t use Air Control, Chrono-Strike, or Dazed and Confused specifically for how broken they are and how they are somehow unavailable in Battlemode.
I can find a purpose for every mod and essentially find myself swapping mods more frequently that most except the Microwave Beam. I don’t know exactly how to use it yet, or at least that’s what I believe at the moment, and I’m not really one to go out of my comfort zone. But I am kind-of-ish working on that flaw.
The Marauder was easy for me the first time, but my early Nightmares were Mancubi and Whiplashes. After my early stages where I’m in a stage of trying and learning new things the Tyrant, Pain Elemental and occasionally the Cacodemon also became my Achilles Heels on top of the Mancubi and Whiplashes. But at this point, the only demons I freak out on are Gargoyles and Whiplashes.
At the end of the day, my goal is to become the most efficient and invulnerable Slayer that I can possibly become.

Thank you for giving your perspective on your gameplay strategies. This helps out alot of comparing my experiences with yours or others for say.
This will definitely influence me more to find strats and mess around to have a good muscle memory mechanic to be cautious, competitive in right senarios, and setting a WHOMBO COMBO list for ways to set faster attacks.
Also, by analyzing all but specific enemies to whats their strengths and weaknesses. This video help me out ALOT of being VERY IMFORMATIVE.

That chainsaw tip is golden! So often I lose track of blood punch & /or grenades. I always used to use ballista arbalest mod only, then I saw a video on how to charge it up during air time, and honestly it is a super powerful mod if you practice that type of move enough. Can 1 shot kill or stagger several hell knights and ravanants in one shot.
I'm not as skilled as you, but watching your videos motivates me to challenge myself and study up on ways to get better. That's become the most enjoyable part of my Doom Eternal experience!
Using a controller on pc (beat nightmare) i found chrono strike with with precision bolt insanely useful so i can ensure i take out weak points when needed. Great videos man

Loved the video. There are some similarities and differences between our playstyles. So first and foremost i use the rocket lock on mod on revenants, hell knights, whiplashes, barons of hell, arch viles, and tyrants. If there are 2 barons in a room, i'll use the 3 rocket bursts with a ssg shot to take one down, then kill the other with the chaingun. I'll often use 4 rocket bursts on tyrants with a couple ssg shots. I glory kill quite often too, and chainsaw frequently for ammo. As for fodder, i like to use my ssg a lot on them, and you can hit multiple at once with 1 shot. I also meat hook a lot for armour. I don't meathook/glory kill as much as you. If i find myself low on health or armour, i like to freeze bomb, flame belch then rocket a big group of fodder. I don't feel the need to ever switch to remote detonation, as the splash from a regular rocket is enough to kill a big group of fodder. I also don't feel the need to falter enemies that often, though the ssg does a good job on that. Archviles for me is just 1 ice bomb and 2 rocket bursts. As for marauders, i like to use the ice bomb combined with rocket bursts. The grenades also work as you can hit the marauder with rocket bursts after he is faltered from the grenade. If i don't have the option of either, i'll use the ssg/ballista quick switch on him. I kill pain elementals with 2 arbelest shots and one quick meathook ssg. I find that i can't get armour from the glory kill on them, even with savagery. 1 arbelest or sticky bomb for caco demons. I use the meathook and ssg on carcasses. I also like to focus down doom hunters with the chaingun, and finish it off with a rocket burst. As for my playstyle, i like to rush in a lot, killing demons as fast as i can. I'll often look for an advantageous spot in an arena to focus down tyrants, or if there are multiple hard hitting demons in the arena. For example in the master arc complex level, there's a nice vantage point in the purple goo area on the side of the building that the baron of hell comes through. As for weakpoints, i really couldn't care less about them. I can easily take down mancubi, arachnotrons and revenants with the ssg. Using the ssg on mancubi is a viable option, as it falters it, and will be in staggered state after 2 point blank ssg hits. Oh and the plasma rifle is my backup for fodder if i run out of ssg ammo. Lastly, i use savagery, air control, and blood fueled. Same reasons as you why i use savagery and air control. However, i use blood fueled as i really enjoy taking advantage of the speed boost after a glory kill. It lets me quickly move around an arena, avoiding hits and killing demons along the way. I never use any other rune. I feel like the increased stagger time is pointless since i can easily glory kill any enemy in an arena with a quick meathook, or just moving around the arena.
My gameplay has changed a lot lately thanks to your videos. Although I am a console player and sometimes find trouble at weapon swap (I can’t do any of the marauder humiliation combos, just ssg ballista), but I’ve been enjoying more the game now it’s super thrilling. Sometimes I see people just ssging everything and I’m like DOODE... why?! There are so many awesome things every weapon and mod is unique and can be used to create a wonderful doom dance
I use Chrono Strike as a cool factor mostly. Somehow it feels really awesome to slow down time while I shoot demons with auto shotgun.
I really want to see you play halo combat evolved on legendary difficulty. The game is very strategic and has many ways to play. It isn't as fast pace as doom obviously but the game is really fun and i think it would be interesting watching you play

Yeah these doom style videos on any other singeplayer fps would be a must watch for me even if he is apparently not a fan of halo. Although I'm a huge fan of halo CE and would love to see it. Half life, bioshock or any other game would be awesome.
@@mosesmorales8601 i know but i was just wondering if he would be interested in giving it another try. Ive completed halo ce multiple times and ive played doom. And the halo is more strategic than i think he gives it credit for but thats just a thought.
Also out of the entire franchise halo ce is the best game to master as its fair and can be tackled in so many ways.

Mayo! One tip I wanted to throw in that has helped me a lot during ultra nightmare runs has been using a quick wrist-flick when flame belching. Your flame belch only needs to hit an enemy for a single frame to light them on fire, so I try to do a wide sweep as fast as I can so that I hit as many enemies as possible and maximize my potential for armor. It took a while to train myself to do it consistently but it really works

First of all, really good content man, you've gained my subscription. Air control really is super common, and I tend to use it combined with Chronostrike (because I'm somewhat good at quickscoping, and it also allows me to assess the chess board of every room quickly), and launching into Glory Kills from further away (because I like to move a lot so I use Glory Kills as a form of teleportation). As well, I try to keep Glory Kills long so that I'm invincible for a while. My personal preference is to use Blood Punch for Cyber Mancubi and if I'm pinned because it helps with that.
I really love the way doom eternal is set up. Every play style works when you practice. When I use new mods it's easy to say that they are underpowered but after practice, even with the microwave beam it gets pretty fun and useful when you fine tune the techniques.

Something I do really often is use the chainsaw to snap to enemies as a mobility tool. The chainsaw has surprising and can kinda be used as a third dash if you do so properly. Love your vids!

I'll preface this by saying I've yet to play on Nightmare yet, I'm trying to get good on Ultra-Violence before I move on, and I would not be surprised if this does not work on Nightmare. But I like it when a Tyrant is in a fight. Whenever I get low on health or armor I just meat hook into them, give 'em a point blank shot, then move onto something else while I vacuum up the armor they drop. They telegraph their attacks so well and are slow enough that I can usually ignore them while focus on more troubling demons. Basically I treat them as a big walking armor shop I visit when I need to before returning to the rest of the fight.
Hey, you ever planning to make a followup to this video? A lot of your newer videos have you using different mods and strategies, and I feel like maybe an update video would be cool to learn what's changed.
Since i like glory killing a lot, launching into it from further away is pretty underrated. I don't like point blank range unless i know i can take them out, i like to make sure they are all nice and soft before i destroy them ;)
Since i meep to meduim low to medium high range, being able to glory kill from further away is super cluch since i spend less time in a vulnerable position if my health is running low. Not to mention that it also gives you a boost and can get you away from corners the same way the chainsaw does, and gives you more space then you might think

I've just finished an extra-life mode nightmare and I died like 7 times. It's awesome, but I feel it's still not enough to go for Ultra-nightmare confidently, so I might use a footage of some VERY problematic arenas.
Could you try the chain gun shield with blood punch? Helps me kill a lot of mancubus, stagger them, then regain blood punch again

My absolute favorite rune is the speed boost after a glory kill. It makes running through the more empty parts of the game faster if there's fodder along the way, it makes getting out of harm's way after a quick health/shield grab slot easier.
Just wanted to say that watching your videos and practicing got me my first Nightmare win. Working on Ultra nightmare now. I have a serious problem though, I am going to wear a hole in my shift key trying to dash in the first level. haha
What makes Eternal so great is that there are several play styles that are viable.
I normally use slow motion rune, fast glory kills, and movement boost after glory kills. The "Doom Dance" is so important and speed is emphasized so I feel the balance of increased speed + slow motion aiming in the air is 100% needed.
I also play on a controller, so definitely need all the advantage I can get.

The destroyer blade is my favourite mod, it's only useful in certain situations but when you fire a full charged blade that takes out 5 weak points in one shot it feels awesome

As you were explaining I kept flash back to your vids before this one. I kept repeating to myself "there's a purpose for that.." for everything you were doing on the field. Then repeating "I knew it!" When you were breaking it all down. I'm a more rigid brute when I play Doom Eternal. But I'm building up my own flow within. Got some practicing to do when I get back into it.
Using the chainsaw as a moment to think is a great way of putting it. Plus it's handy for the invulnerability. I've saved my own skin a few times by grabbing a chainsaw kill at the last second.
I have an interesting tip too, if you ever need health and have prowlers nearby. You can shoot them with a ballista, it instantly sets them to glory kill state. Also throw in a flame belch for good measure.

i use the GK from further away, longer GK state and the speed boost after a GK, makes glory kill chains so fun and that speed boost is such a great help in a sticky situation.
Also the destroyer blade has got to be my favourite mod, its charge up sound is like music to me, nothing more staisfying than killing three prowlers and a whiplash in one shot.
Mind blown about the remote detonation stagger to marauder in addition to shotgun/ballista duo. I already thought i had the tactic down well, this seems to make it even easier!!
My runes are usually Faster glory kill, longer glory kill ranger, and longer stagger. Plasma rifle is my go to for almost all situations just to build up that heat blast. Mostly I use the heat blast for the temporary damage boost on the rifle. Super shotgun gets reserved for resource collection. Nice to see you use the chain saw the same way I do.

I like the ol’ point blank meat hook blast and then a regular ballista shot in revanants, it always staggers a full Hp one if done correctly.
My favorite playstyle is one based entirely off of bunnyhopping, which I haven't seen getting as much talk as it should get, because it honestly puts the combat on an even higher level imo. I'm not even into bhopping in like source games or anything like that but it's been one of my favorite aspects of the game since I started using it. For runes I like getting blood fueled (this is an absolute REQUIREMENT and it's always the first rune I get every playthrough), seek and destroy, and either savagery, dazed and confused, or maybe air control but I'm usually better at setting up bhops without it so I don't use it that often. I like using the plasma rifle as much as I can, charging up heat blast from a distance, getting a glory kill for the boost, then flinging myself at a group of enemies, firing the heat blast off and jumping away. With just a bit of practice (that I was able to get playing through hell on earth on ultra nightmare like 90 times because I'm terrible at the game) you basically have access to an alternate, no cooldown dash. It's honestly fucking crazy to me that I haven't seen people discussing it much, if at all, considering how fun it is, and I'd really like to see your thoughts on it
