I don't normally comment, but I just wanted to say your video is so wonderfully clear and accessible in way not a lot of FGO guides are; there's a lot of important, useful information explained coherently and sequentially without being overwhelming. I'm definitely checking out your other videos! Thank you for the clear 🙏
Nice video. Don't often see these styles of walkthroughs FGO and I'll be happy to link your channel to people I see struggling in the future! I find that Nightingale Santa can be good in the front if you want to not face tank Demeter NP and your DPS has hard survival so the buff removal resist can help you out. She also has quite a bit of damage amp and some healing and is helpful for a lot of people who don't wanna lose their strong meta support buffs (applied through plugsuit or letting Caenis die on t2 without casting guts or any other way. A non limited SR I found pretty great here - Rider Marie (she can live really long against Demeter but without a defence removal CC, Demeter outstalls her). In a team context, she has good support as well with the attack up and healing.
I've seen a lot of people recommend using Nightingale up front, and I can understand why they do, but I personally have some issues with that. She might help the main DPS live past the first NP, but she doesn't live. This means you are dropping a team slot in favor of using her to tank the first NP. The alternative is just facetanking the first one. Since the attack buff doesn't apply on the first cycle, it's really easy for riders to survive it, then stabilize later with Asclepius or Medea Lily. As for her buff removal, I've found it to be kind of awkward because she only removes one buff. This means you remove the damage cut if you try to remove her defense buff when she first applies it. She also might have her debuff immunity on top of it, so you might still not remove what you need to, so you really only have a one turn window to use it. Full buff removal is generally better because you don't have to worry about the timing. This all being said, she is a solid option for a good amount of players because she is free, so I understand why people recommend her. Anyways. Thanks for commenting! It's good to see people detailing their reasoning.
@@Ottobean Yeah, I get what you're saying. I think she's good even if she dies cause she gives a 20 percent attack, 30 percent NP damage, and combined with not losing Ushi's quick up and attack up, if you get a 2nd NP off on your DPS, that's really good. And you can still cast the 3K heal before she dies, so your DPS can recover before they use the evade to tank the NP. But yeah, she's definitely not a substitute for a buff remover like Alex or Martha . And you can tank the NP without her buff removal resist by just well... not breaking on Demeter NP turn.
@@Ottobean From what I've seen, the main reason some people suggest SantaGale isn't really to survive the first NP or anything, but to counter Demeter's buff removal gimmick on the first break (and maybe buff block as well if she still survives). She's pretty much disposable after they get through the gimmick. I see people got really annoyed with that since they dump a lot of the buffs to the main damage dealer to break the bars pretty fast, if not min turning the fight. So, to lose the important buffs abruptly means losing the momentum suddenly and not everyone is keen on that.
@@dindapriska Thanks for explaining it. I was viewing that reasoning from the wrong angle, but I think I get it now. Using her to protect those buffs makes sense. I just think that it isn't worth investing that much in your front line buffs unless you are planning to end the fight very quickly, which many people are unable to do. Her defense debuff is pretty substantial, and you don't really need a lot of dedicated support to break the first bar quickly. I understand why people would pick Santagale for the frontline, but I feel like she isn't worth trying to keep alive for a while. A second rider is a lot easier to keep alive, so it's easier to get multiple uses out of their skills over Nightingale's. I guess it really just boils down to how you want to approach this fight.
This was a pretty good guide, i'm currently STRUGGLING sith demeter, the set up i used for this fight is Mandricardo, Castoria, Hans, Mash, and Archer Artoria. And it's pretty much trash rn, is there any tips i can find when using Mandricardo?
You might be able to work with Mash. If you're using Ushi, or someone else with hard survival as one of the riders, you can survive an NP with Mash's invuln. Her NP will do a ton for 3 turns because of the cut. Lakshmibai might do some work in keeping the main one alive, if you have her. For the backline, you might be better off bringing another rider attacker to do a lot of damage at the end.
@@Ottobean Thank you for responding! I think I have a rough idea on who I'm going to use. I'm out ATM but I will post who I'm using and see if it's optimal enough.
@@Ottobean The team I made has Ushi, MArtha, Circe, Alexander and Maruasaki (caster). Trying to work with the CEs I have but I went off of the wiki guide for other characters that can be used.
Very nice video. I was hoping to find something like this because a friend of mine has huge trouble with this fight. I just went oonga boonga with a "whale setup" (in quotes because I'm entirely free to play) with Zhuge Liang, Tamamo, Ryouma and Plugsuit. I believe I had my Ushi in the back line with a k-scope to finish Demeter off, which I actually needed for the guts, but most of the heavy lifting was done by those 3. Stealing charge completely disrupts the fight. I did not really give a damn about the mechanics and just brute forced my way with this setup.
Thanks! Charge reduction completely breaks the fight, so Tam and Waver are cracked there. I used summer Murasaki to solo this fight last year, and Demeter only NPed once. She has such crazy NP denial and loops like it's nothing. I made a video of it, if you are interested.
Asclepius is hard to replace. You might be able to make Santa Nightingale fit in his place. She doesn't do anything in my setup, so she can be switched around. Medea Lily might be able to replace him, but she's pretty rare. Berserker Nightingale might be able to do it. Ultimately you just want to bring something that can make the rest of your team live longer. If you have Martha, then you don't need the debuff clear as bad. It's preferred that they can die off before the other two, which is another reason why Asclepius is really good.
Its better if you prioritize ST riders because of how good damage their np can do to single bosses, especially since demeter heal a lot, boost def by lot, and np very easily, you will need to finish the fight as fast as possible, and aoe np will not help much for that
As a main DPS for the first few bars, I don't think she has the damage. However, she is an excellent pick for a cleanup servant. You can put her in the very back, and her survival can stall out a decent mount of turns. If you do use her in the back, you'll want a couple certain command codes to make her work. You'll want a defense removal command code if you can afford one. You'll also want something to remove the debuff immunity. Her charm does work, but she normally has nothing to work past that immunity. You can use the Freeshooter command code from the CBC event last year. If you don't have that, bring one that applies a debuff, like burn or curse. That wastes her debuff immune buff. I may upload a video of her soloing this later this week. It is pretty hard for her to solo, so an actual team is probably easier to use.
@@Ottobean why didn't I think of the debuff immune removal cc when I fought Demeter. In anycase, I enjoy your videos and advice because you bring up great ideas.
