i’ve been reading blogs on how to wear skirts as a short woman after watching this. (i’m 4’11 and petite) and they’re like “stay away from tiered skirts”.. i began to sweat while looking at my more than 5 tiered skirts. i own more than 20 skirts from all lengths and most of them doesn’t work for me according to the blogs 😅 i personally prefer “mori kei” style which is basically layered, loose, feminine. sometimes i feel like a hanger… but a pretty and comfy hanger when i wear that style 😂
Bethany, I never thought I’d find anything to flatter my petite and inverted triangle shape, but you’ve taught me it’s all about the cut and quality of the clothing that can make all the difference. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get on my outfits now and it’s such a confidence booster. People always ask me where I get my hats too, and it always reminds me of you. Thank you for being such a positive resource for us short girls, and just a sweet person all around 🥰✨
I’m 5’1 and I only wear baggy jeans, I hate skinny jeans, they make me look way skinnier than i naturally am. I like to buy and follow Japanese clothing trends, most tend to be very skinny and petite targeted, lots of baggy clothing is used and trendy and I love it!
I’m petite 5’1 and I completely agree with the big bags-will be wearing small bags forever. I prefer midi, mini, and maxi skirts instead of right at the knee. I disagree on oversized everything. I do love when there is a contrast such as tight top loose pants but I also love just baggy everything. It’s just so comfortable and looks cool not always in the mood to look taller or whatever.
Agree! I'm 5' on the dot and most of the trends outlined here can be a bit hard to pull off as a petite, but the oversized everything look comes down to energy! You've gotta own the vibe this chic "cool careless" look is asking for. I actually tend to feel taller and leaner when I throw on an oversized top and bottom and sleek strappies or super cute shoes. ( :
I’m petite but love wearing oversized on oversized, something i find that helps to even out proportions is by having higher waisted pants, and trying to “crop” the oversized shirt/sweater by tucking it into the waistband, or buying a baggy but cropped too to begin with!
I’m a few inches shorter than you and totally agree about the bags and skirts but nothing is going to make me look taller, thinner or younger (77). I love full , flair pants so I just go with it and smile. My body want nothing to do with heals, so I go with loafers, trainers and flats. You are adorable and give good recommendations and I enjoy you site. Never underestimate the value of youth and health, both are transient. Blessings.
love u for saying it's all a matter of personal taste in the end, bc i'm never giving up my oversized bags no matter how silly i might look. something i decided for myself when i once saw the tiniest girl wearing a humongous tote bag, made her look like she was sailing away in a boat and i thought it was the cutest thing ever😂♥️
I’m 5 “2 and very petite and I can’t stand the oversized trend. Thank you for all your suggestions. It really helps even though I am 67. I still look classic and minimal every bit helps.
I loved this video and found it so helpful in figuring out WHY certain styles don't work on my petite frame. Like I can tell when something's not working but sometimes I'm unsure exactly what's making it not work. We are about the same size. Please do one of these for each season's trends!
Thanks as always Bethany! I'm not short (5'6"), but I do have width in my frame that can easily make me look "squished," cut off, or shorter, so these tips are helpful for me too 🥰
As someone who's 5'1, your tips have helped me a lot... Your channel is my go to source of information whenever I need fashion advice ❤️Thanks for taking time and sharing these tips ❤️
On a first note, I must say, your voice is so calming and yet engaging. As a petite myself, I appreciate the content. Please keep them coming; we cute sized ladies need a channel to help dress proportionally to our height.
Thank goodness, you were honest with your height in the intro. I am also 5”0 ft and the struggle to look good in clothes is real. I have so many dresses because I look good in them and they’re the easiest way to look good without making me look shorter. Thanks for the ideasM 😊
I like wearing oversize everything, and then I as a petite woman have trouble styling this look, I turn to Japanese women for inspiration -- they way they style absolutely HUGE clothes is immaculate.
I live in Australia and recently got back from Japan for the first time. The fashion there is beautiful! Even when people are dressing casually, there is something innately stylish and purposeful. It was also the first time where I could actually buy clothes that fit me as a shortie (5ft) and when over sized fits ACTUALLY fit me, and doesn’t eat me up.
Your insightful tips on navigating 2023 trends for short girls resonate deeply, and it brings to mind the valuable guidance I received from Lisa Haisha during her transformative retreat in the Philippines. Both you and Lisa serve as my guiding lights, inspiring me to embrace uniqueness and navigate life's trends with confidence.
Hi Bethany! It's hard to imagine you as barely over 5' because you always look taller which means whatever you are doing definitely works! I never reached 5' but with age, I've already started shrinking. I don't really pay attention to trends because trends are only temporary until the next trend. I prefer style because you can build on that. Love you, Bethany. 🥰 XOXO
I agree with the big bags. I’m 5’1, and very hard to decide to have a tote bag. I’ve been eyeing goyard st louis for years but cant decide to have one, instead i end up bough a poleene cyme mini for smaller tote bag. Your short girl videos always helped me! Thank youuu and Happy Valentine’s day
as someone whoes 4'9 3/34 feet at 15 year , i really did find alot of things in this video , even though i really love and adore wide pants clothing or big bags .
Another very informative video and with all your expertise, could I ask you to please consider doing a video for us petites about layering? Our winters here in Canada are long and I’m hoping you have some tips to keep our style interesting without looking frumpy. Thank you in advance 🙏💕
LOVE IT!! So many people think “petite” is being skinny 😂😂.. so that’s actually why I checked this video out…. I can’t tell tot how many people I have seen on online shopping reviews in the petite section claiming they bought their normal size but the clothing is too small lol… well dear it’s because you are 5’6 and in the wrong section 😂😂😂
Great video as always, Bethany! As someone who is barely 5’1” & very slender, I have had to avoid certain looks or trends & only adopt styles that look proportionate to my tiny frame. Some of my favorite styles to wear is 1. high waisted jeans, 2. v-neck tops, 3. fitted, tailored looks (can be paired with something “roomy” without being oversized), 4. Small bags, usually between 8-11 inches wide, 5. Belting my outfits to accentuate my waist, 6. Never wearing pants, skirts, dresses, jumpsuits that “cut me off” right below the knee or at the widest part of my calf, & 7. Wearing shoes that match my legs (black only with black tights, beige shoes when my leg is bare, etc).
I never liked the big bag trend and am sooo happy we got a few years of tiny bags. I remember desperately looking for smaller bags during the 2010s and never finding any!
Hi, could you please create videos on choosing the color palette for people with different skin colors as well as what jewellery works with different complexion.
Although I do enjoy oversized clothing, I do so because it’s comfortable. But I want to branch out these days and embrace some more feminine looks, on my top half at least. My style persona is begging me 😂😂 So wish me luck as I venture into that, I want to discover more fitted and slim tops that work for my body shape 🙌🏻
I'm 5' 21/2" and always loved the way pencil skirts looked on me, of course when I was younger and slimmer. Now at 68 years young I wish I could still rock the pencil skirt 😕
i'm 5'2 and i think i just found out what my style is. i was kinda nervous when you mentioned wide leg pants but luckily, i'm wearing it the right way. i really like wide leg pants (not too wide tho and definitely not flared) with a crop top. i once owned a lot of skinny jeans but as i started gaining weight, it doesn't look good on me. my body shape (inverted triangle) is also becoming a factor. when loose/wide leg pants became a trend, i found myself looking better. but i also started checking the length of the tops that i buy to make sure that they don't go beyond my belly button. i also avoid oversized tops or one with a shoulder line that measure beyond mine. i'm being more aware of the fitting of my clothes now. it's not just about the design nor trend.
Always solid advise. It is easy to lose oneself ....in alot of layers and coats and scarves and ...could you do one on layering for petites? The looks are great but how to not get swallowed by them???? Thanks Bethany! Hapoy Valentine's Day! Xo Joanne 🇨🇦
This girl speaks truth. With fashion, proportion is key. 1. Wear only 1 oversized item at a time. 2. Bags are personal. Vogue can K.I. 3. I wear A-line or wrap-styled skirts 24" to 29" long...nothing else.
how about 5 feet and curvy? can you guide about what to wear. your style helped me a lot but i still feel like it’s more for when i when want to dress up and don’t know what to wear to a supermarket run and feel cute
I’m still growing as I’m 14 ( 4’10 ) so my mom is 5’1 my dad is like 5’6 and I’ll most likely be 5’1-5’2 which I’m fine with at this point. So I will look forward to using videos like these to style looks without making me look like an Oompa Loompa lol
Im 5'3" and the very best way for me to look taller is a pair of high waisted, slightly wide leg pants paired with a short, slightly structured or fitted top. Add pointed toe shoes and suddenly I look and feel much taller. Keep the whole outfit in a similar color tone. Short over long does it every time. Mile high legs are the optical illusion here.
I love your videos. And I benefit from these “short girl videos” despite being just shy of 5’6. Because while my legs aren’t exactly short my torso is LONGGG. Mix that with a naturally big booty and thick thighs, it makes my legs look even shorter. These videos are helpful to make everything look “even” Thank you.
As someone who carries a lot of stuff, i cant stand small bags. But i also hate large bags so i try looking for bags that looks “standard/normal” size but can fit a lot of stuffs in. 😂
what amazed me more is that your the song vocal for the song at the end? 😮 Do you have another youtube where I can hear you more singing? lol! Beautiful voice by the way! ❤
Thank you for mentioning bags! I'm 5'0 and hate having the look of a gigantic bag over my shoulder. They do overwhelm smaller frames. With knee length skirts, the behind-the-knee area is delicate and can be more sensitive, and so I figure the pieces to be less comfortable too.
I am average height but I have such short legs, like my mom, and it appears my kids both have short limbs, I'm rolling up their clothes constantly. It's hard to accommodate sometimes, but these tips really help!
The fact she JUST GETS TO THE POINT is ❤️

Hahahah I'm the same. Love oversize and I hope the trend never disappears

I find wearing the same color pieces help with oversize everything and it looks adorable

Yes! 4:45 is SO important because that is what matters most at the end of the day.
I’m 5 “2
and very petite and I can’t stand the oversized trend. Thank you for all your suggestions. It really helps even though I am 67. I still look classic and minimal every bit helps.
i am just 5 💀
Same 💀@@just_a_stupidlittlegirl
her voice is so soothing
The "on the knee" trend is unnessecary to bring up because we all shorties know that the skirts will end up below anyway XD
I know it yet…. I’m so eager to buy it!!!
😂😂😂😂
True
Totally agree. My struggle will be to give up the oversize trend, i just love that trend so much 😅🥲
Totally agree on the big tote! But I adore pencil skirts. I find them completely feminine and flattering.
Please make a video about what to wear for upcoming summer and how incorporate colors for summer. It'd be so helpful. Lots of love.
I loved this video and found it so helpful in figuring out WHY certain styles don't work on my petite frame. Like I can tell when something's not working but sometimes I'm unsure exactly what's making it not work. We are about the same size. Please do one of these for each season's trends!
Ask yourself why you don't or do like it, if it's the cut, color, texture... It will help you to have more clarity
Thanks as always Bethany! I'm not short (5'6"), but I do have width in my frame that can easily make me look "squished," cut off, or shorter, so these tips are helpful for me too 🥰
Aside from the useful content, I really like your voice. It's so soothing and melodic 🥰
This is how I found you a few years back Bethany, your short girl series❤ it’s helped me sooooo much ❤
Aw so glad to hear it, friend! 💛

I only wear knee lenght skirts in winter with knee hight boots and tights in a similar color either to the boots or the skirt. Try it people 😉

Yes!! I 💯 agree with all you've said! True personal style has nothing to do with trends, it is expressing our personality!

Well said at the end of the video, you don't need to adopt every single trend that goes around if it doesn't suit your style
Yes I got the large Marc Jacob tote I returned it and got the medium and it’s perfect
Absolutely adore your sweater !!!
Hi, could you please create videos on choosing the color palette for people with different skin colors as well as what jewellery works with different complexion.
The Olsen twins wear the oversized look so well. They just look confident.
Thank you, 4’11 here and was struggling what to buy for myself!
Always so pleasant to watch
Ur voice is therapeutic
I can't stand the oversized clothes trend!😭 Everyone just looks so frumpy.
Great video and Happy Valentines Day Bethany 🥰
I really loved watching your videos. The ambience is always perfect. Very delicate. Don't know how to describe. Hehe.
Agree with the big bags and baggy silhouettes. They are a no, but I do like a pencil skirt on me. I love midis too.
I'm always looking to your videos for help with how to dress as a petite. Thank you for continuing to make these types of videos ❤️
Absolutely Chantelle!

Me being 4'11 and I just can't imagine myself being not fashionable so I'm so obsessed with this video.

Thanks Bethany for sharing and advice to what style to wear for petite 5'1 like me.🥰💖
I'm 5' 21/2" and always loved the way pencil skirts looked on me, of course when I was younger and slimmer. Now at 68 years young I wish I could still rock the pencil skirt 😕
Me, too! They've gone from "chic" to "sausage."

As someone who is 4’8 I find really big bags hard to walk with I always end up tripping on big bags so I’ve always stuck with smaller bags
Wow, love what you’ve had to say and how you’ve presented it. New subscriber. Thank you!
Love the conclusion quote 💕
Dearly Bethany ❤️, would you please guide us on knee length or long length dresses or anything regarding dresses.🌼🌼
I have taken this course, and it’s so good!! 🙏🏽🤍✨
What do you think of Japanese style, they're on average petite and wear oversize and long extremely well!
Yep, and they look good. You can do oversize as long as it's in the right silhouette. The Japanese style is so chic and cool.
Ahh she is just love 😣💙
I like big bags for baby diaper backpack/tote but if just me. I love fanny pack and sling bag.very comfy
this is the most helpful video ive ever seen for someone my height!!! thanks a lottt
why do i feel so called out 🥲
I’m still growing as I’m 14 ( 4’10 ) so my mom is 5’1 my dad is like 5’6 and I’ll most likely be 5’1-5’2 which I’m fine with at this point.
Mile high legs are the optical illusion here.
im 4'10 and am sooooo happy the low rise jean trend is back, high waisted looks so blocky on me
You are an amazing stylist❤
I’m also 5’0 when I was 105 pounds I found it easier to dress to look taller than it does now that I’m 160 pounds. 😢
Loved this video so much!
You always confirms what I "feel" when I try those trends you are talking about!
Kisses from Belgium!
I love your videos.
And I benefit from these “short girl videos” despite being just shy of 5’6. Because while my legs aren’t exactly short my torso is LONGGG. Mix that with a naturally big booty and thick thighs, it makes my legs look even shorter.
These videos are helpful to make everything look “even”
Thank you.
My body us the same 🤣 I wanted to get a liposuction in my hips area just to look longer 😂
@@khelix23 nooo !
Big booties are the best!
Yup people can be tall, but their torso or legs can fall into petite areas.
Thanks i do wear pencil skirts but i like mini skirts a lot ❤
"I am short"
Me too 😅💖
can you do modest outfits (not showing much if at all any skin) for petite girls.
Fantastic tips to keep in mind ❤
4’11 here😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you Bethany❤
I agree..its best to dress for your shape..i.e. I wear a fitted jean with a flare. Oversized jeans drown my short legs
As someone who carries a lot of stuff, i cant stand small bags. But i also hate large bags so i try looking for bags that looks “standard/normal” size but can fit a lot of stuffs in. 😂
Thanks. You are beautiful and with the best sense of fashion for us, petittes....
Not me liking the video before even watching it🙋🏼♀️ To be fair I never regret it💕
🤗💛
what amazed me more is that your the song vocal for the song at the end? 😮 Do you have another youtube where I can hear you more singing? lol! Beautiful voice by the way! ❤
Loving this video ❤
The “oversized looks “ you showed at the beginning❤❤ are amazing!! Can someone refer me to stores sell like these looks?
Thank you for mentioning bags! I'm 5'0 and hate having the look of a gigantic bag over my shoulder. They do overwhelm smaller frames.
With knee length skirts, the behind-the-knee area is delicate and can be more sensitive, and so I figure the pieces to be less comfortable too.
As a 5’11 with short legs, I’m taking notes✍️
Thank you for this. I learned a lot. I appreciate you.
I am average height but I have such short legs, like my mom, and it appears my kids both have short limbs, I'm rolling up their clothes constantly. It's hard to accommodate sometimes, but these tips really help!
Glad they are helpful, Lisa! 🤗
Totally agreee with all of your statements gurl❤️
Great tips!
Flared is perfect 4 petite
