The Game Boy might be a cool to make into a character. Maybe a larger friendly looking character like Baymax from Big Hero 6 or BMO from adventure time. The switch could be cool too with that duel joycons becoming 2 characters
Both are great ideas! Hmm the Switch dual joycon characters is intriguing; I always go straight to sci-fi so it kinda makes me think of Pacific Rim with two pilots in the Jaeger
On one hand, it's a shame that Brandon never made another controller-to-character(s) video. On the other hand, this means it's really easy to fit all his controller characters into a single world.
regarding what you said at the end there, please do make this a series. Maybe the MegaDrive/Genesis next? Then going back to the NES and Master System controllers could be cool.
I've been watching for a while now and I'm upset you haven't blow up yet! The amount of information I gain from every video is insane! Not to mention the professionalism and quality with which you explain the process of creating the art! Honestly anyone who wants to learn pixel art should be redirected to your channel.
I remember owning a Mega Joy II. It was a sort of bootleg console; the entire design of it imitating the look of a N64 controller, but all the games that were contained within the system were retro NES games. At the time it was interesting owning a plug and play hand held console that didn't require you to swap cartridges in order to play a different game. Could make for an interesting design challenge.
Haha oh wow that's really interesting, it's got a controller casing like the N64 but no middle analog stick! Certainly would make for a unique design challenge; even the idea of being a "bootleg" of sorts could factor in
Maybe making two twin-like characters for the Nintendo Switch joy cons would be interesting, like one of them would be the left joy con and the other would be the right? They could be co pilots of a big mech like how Voltron handled it. I also like the idea of the mech being a big, black, and slender mech to represent when they’re hooked up to the switch itself. Just a thought :)
I rarely comment under videos but goddamn, this channel deserves way more recognition than it has now... Great stuff, well edited, well presented, on a topic that I haven't seen covered, with a lot of effort in everything. I really hope you keep it up - no matter the feedback and the amount of people it reaches!
Haha I'm kinda the same (not a big commenter) so I really appreciate hearing this! I'm glad that the effort and content is well recognized and appreciated, and I'm gonna keep doing my thing. Thanks for your support and encouragement, and thanks for watching! :D
I like a lot when you work from scratch, then after a while you reveal the final artwork, and lastly you come back to point out details. It's a very effective way to engage to the video. Thank you for sharing
Epic pixel work as always! The Original Xbox 360 controller might make an interesting character, especially with the slightly tanned white of the shell, metallic grey accents and rgby abxy buttons.
Name:Trooper Sn (Trooper Super Nintendo) Weapon: SNES (Super Nintendo Exo Suit) Enemy:Trooper Genesis (Sega genesis controller inspired enemy) (to reference Nintendo and Segas rivalry back during those times)
Joy Con sisters. Wii might use a controller Wipe. Perhaps a computer character that can do something with the keyboard and mouse. Gameboy with a green color and double A and B maces. This would be a cool series.
so ... live and learn... I thought that the old famicon style boxy snes was the one for Japanese markets and all the rest of us got the cool rounded edge design :)
Thanks! I'm still trying to decide if the N64 would suit a single character design, or maybe split it into three characters - one based on each handle/grip..? lol
@@BJGpixel Hmm, both are pretty cool concepts. I guess it depends on if you want to tackle something large (like a gundam inspired controller) or three smaller sprites that each represent there theme (joystick, buttons, z button maybe?). Will be cool to see which way you go.
@@270jonp Yeah I like that idea of deciding a theme for each area of the controller and find a character type out of those. But a large Gundam would be amazing as well - maybe that'd also be a good gamecube one! Thanks for the insight! :D
Hi I love your channel and your tutorials tackle all the problems a novice pixel art enthusiast encounters! Just wondering if you have any tips or tricks or perhaps plans to do a tutorial on isometric pixel art?
Thank you! I honestly haven't done much isometric work, but I've thought about doing a vid where I try it and share a few insights based on my experience trying it out lol
I'm imagining the super famicon controI team working for an organization that's trying to cut costs- so they developed the SNES, a fighter who can do the job of a team of four aII on her own. The controI team aren't needed anymore, so they're fired. Then you have the adventures of the controI team as they fight to prove their worth, on the way discovering that the organization they worked for was secretIy trying to take over the worId (or something...). The SNES is Iike their rivaI, taunting them about how they'II never be as good as her and defeating them at every fight- but in the end, they discover the support and friendship they give each other is worth far more than the SNES' fancy technology. They win the finaI battIe, prove their worth, and save the day :) These characters are so fun, you couId get a reaI cheesy story out of them
The SNES has my favourite controller aesthetic!! So I'm glad you made this video haha! The exo-suit is so fricken cool! I personally would've called the SNEX but I can see why you opted for SNES 😁
continuing the list the apple pippin controller, intelavision controller, the original early 70's magnovox odyssey controller, the fairchild channel f controller, and lastly the wiimote with nunchuck.
Maybe… characters based on Xbox One and PlayStation controllers about to battle each other? None of them as a villain, rather like hero party members who got against each other due to some harmful revelation.

Well it's not quite just US - maybe North America - because it's also what we had in Canada! Yes the European design is interesting because it's part way between both, taking the SFC look with the SNES name. It's got a proper shoutout in my Super Famicom design vid ;)

Josh Jimison I second these suggestions!!
The switch joycons could assemble into a mech, like power rangers, and that would be the screen!
I could imagine the GameCube controllers being an interesting version
This would be insane, Brandon is a mastermind
Id imagine the mega drive being a pretty cool one.

I'm finding this series really helpful for my own character creation. Thanks!
Great video! i've been learning a lot with you these days. keep up the good work
Edit : Also the Wii controller would be cool to pixel art :)
Thanks, happy to hear! Oh wow great suggestion, the Wii would be a lot of fun to try - so many unique characteristics!
Would be cool to see a space ship inspired by the N64 Controller !
Somebody needs to make a game out of these characters
That would be so cool :D
How about a Nintendo Switch character or a Sega Dreamcast?
The Switch could be an interesting controller to do.
Epic pixel work as always! The Original Xbox 360 controller might make an interesting character, especially with the slightly tanned white of the shell, metallic grey accents and rgby abxy buttons.
Oh wow! I'd love this continued if you have that in stock.
I love this channel so much.
Another great video!!
Love it , keep it up!
Pixel art is amazing, The Last Door is a masterpiece
Would be cool to see an NES character with a Power Glove that's kind of like the teacher of the Famicom characters.
youre moneky character should be in the first donkey kong but with some sci fi stuff
You're amazing! Keep it up.
Should have called it the Super Nintendo entertainment system exo suit or the SNES-ES
Haha or how about the "Special Networked Super Nintendo Entertainment System Exo Suit": the SN-SNES-ES! 😅
Brandon James Greer I wonder how far this could go
Brandon : im calling it the "SNES"
The console : that my name!
Name:Trooper Sn (Trooper Super Nintendo)
Weapon: SNES (Super Nintendo Exo Suit)
Enemy:Trooper Genesis (Sega genesis controller inspired enemy) (to reference Nintendo and Segas rivalry back during those times)

Please do a N64 controller and system one
Not technically a controller, but I like the wonderswan system since it was made to be played both normally and sideways.
Yeah definitely! Working that double orientation into a design would be a unique challenge. Great suggestion! :D
i can imagine the atari 2600 charachter being like a knight because it is old and the control stick and button can be a sword and shield respectively
You could make one based off of a mouse/track pad and a keyboard for some of the pc games
Really want to see you tackle the N 64 and GameCube controllers. I think there is a very cool series here.

you should make a character based on the atari 2600 it could be like a really blocky mechsuit

Nice work :)
I think you should try doing the Nintendo Switch controllers.
The switch would be a red and blue couple, for some reason I imagine them holding hands and spinning around
She gives me the impression and vibe of Astronema from Power Rangers In Space. I loved it.
So the famicom controller is a master/sensei for the control team
The SNES has my favourite controller aesthetic!! So I'm glad you made this video haha!
The exo-suit is so fricken cool! I personally would've called the SNEX but I can see why you opted for SNES 😁
Oh awesome, and thanks! Haha ah man that would have been a cool name as well; gotta consult you next time! 😅
@@BJGpixel Hahaha dw I'm not actually very good with names!! 😅😅
@@CKTDanny Haha same! Actually I thought about naming the pilot using the button letters, but there's only A/B/X/Y (and L/R) to work with... 😅
@@BJGpixel Alyx!! 😱
@@CKTDanny Hahaha oh wow thanks - see that's why I need you!! 😂That's perfect; gonna add that to the character sheet when I eventually post it 🎉
Nice
I like to think this is a runaway trooper who became evil
I would play a game based off these characters no doubt. The super famicom rangers and the snes villain would make for an epic game.
These vids need more likes
It's not a controller, but maybe you could make the "game brothers" a set of three characters based on the gameboy, gameboy color, and gba
Segata sanshiro should be totally referenced in a sega saturn design!!
Haha that's such a great idea, thanks! :D
i like the idea that the super nintendo is the enemy of the control bois
What about "The Duke" Xbox controller?
Do this with the switch. Would like to see it.
if you do controllers you must do the gamecube, atari 2600, and some of the weird ones like the virtual boy.
I almost forgot that crazy sega saturn joystick controller. Saturn 3D controller
continuing the list the apple pippin controller, intelavision controller, the original early 70's magnovox odyssey controller, the fairchild channel f controller, and lastly the wiimote with nunchuck.
the original nes controller would be sick.
Do more
Definitely the Nintendo Gamecube controller
ColecoVision Controller
3:45 -Tol Legz- Beg Wast
No genesis?
Famicom controller!
Maybe… characters based on Xbox One and PlayStation controllers about to battle each other? None of them as a villain, rather like hero party members who got against each other due to some harmful revelation.
how are you going to desing a charather, out of a ghost?

"It's kinda the same but different"
this would be a good power rangers like show
The Dreamcast controller
Huh, interesting that you think the American boxy Snes looks more hi-tech, but to me it the simplistic boxy design looks less hi-tech.
please turn the orange gamecube controller into a Pixel Art Character.
NES Controller
SEGA GENESIS!!!!!
mooootoookoooooooooooooooooooooooo
Nintendo switch
sans
That's not the "western" redesign. it's the US design. Here in europe we had the super famicom design
