Incredible!!! I like the little animation tricks you use, like the scrolling of the entire background, it's very similar to how you manipulate cameras in game development. Thanks for sharing. This only solidifies the fact that we need a BJG pixel game :D With this loop setup, I like to think Megaman is speedrunning the level, trying to get a better time each time :'D
Neat!! It's really fun seeing how you pan through the map, just like a camera in a game! And the animation came out great on the matrix. 😁 Hearing the sfx was a nice touch too, is that playing from the unit? I'm a big fan of these unique types of presentations! Did you ever seen that project Nike did, with the pixel matrix wall that covers a small track for running? The "Unlimited Stadium" 😱
Haha yeah exactly, it totally felt like controlling the camera pan of a game 😅 The sfx were added for the video - there's no speaker on the unit (although it does have clock/alarm functions so maybe at the least it can make some beeps..?) Wow I'd never seen that Nike project but just looked it up, that's so cool! Must be a popular spot to go running at night! Would love a giant pixel installation like that too haha
@@BJGpixel Ooh, yeah it would've been cool if the unit had speakers but a beeper is better than nothing! 😆 And ikr!! I think the running screen is actually a giant pixel-matrix (pretty low-res); I'd line all my walls in that stuff if I could! 😁 _ok maybe not ALL of them_
Fantastic work with the limited screen size, also a creative use of the background movement! Really nice, I like how you managed to add a lot of character to the animation in the end, with the turret and the spinning wheel! The beam transition is also great, love your work!
I was wondering when you'd get this one! I 'needed' a product like that a few weeks ago and remembered your video of a 16px one Thanks to that, I found the Kickstarter for the new 64px one and supported it immediately. I didn't expect that you'd produce something so awesome for the video about it, that was incredible, awesome job!
Incredible stuff as always! It's interesting that you use Photoshop for your animation, have you found this is the best for pixel art animation? I'd like to get into pixel animation, but I've struggled to really get used to Photoshop's animation system, it just always felt glitchy and clunky, but I haven't tried it in years, should I give it another shot?
@@nostalgiazoned3301 agreed! Especially if you want to do sprite work, aseprite has a really intuitive built in system for that. I’d say worth the $20 for sure
Thanks dude! You're absolutely right - it is a very quirky timeline, mostly because when you propagate the movements of the first frame through the rest of the timeline you have to be careful not to knock things out of place. I've been using it for long enough that I've got a good handle on it, and often use the quirks to my advantage, but it's not necessarily what I'd recommend 😅
I got the 16x16 version of the pixoo a few months ago. After watching this video I immediately opened aseprite to make some artwork for this low res display. Browsing through the divoom app to load artwork on the device I actually found someone animating YOUR logo. Just wanted to let you know about that. Thanks for the inspiration Brandon! Love your stuff
I only have one tiny nitpick and that is the fact that its quite difficult to tell which arm mega has out during the walking animation but other than that this is awesome.
Stellar job! You have criminally low view counts for the production quality that you have, so I'm glad I stumbled upon your page way whenever it is I did. I'm exceedingly mad at you for calling it a jif, though, how could you.
Thanks dude, I appreciate the support! The GIF/'JIF' debate is a bit tiring at this point; I've pronounced it both ways in videos and I get yelled at each time 😂
Awesome stuff! It's super tough to get a full scene in such a small canvas. Are the sound effects playing while you showed off the finished thing part of the animation, or did you add them in after?
Thanks man, it was fun to shrink down a lot of those assets to make it work! Yeah the sound effects were added after, I dont believe this frame has sound, although there is an alarm clock and a visualizer that responds to external music
Thanks dude! I actually agree with you, however I've been told that's the more "correct" way strangely enough lol. What's fun about being a speaking person on youtube is that if I had pronounced it the other way (hard 'G' GIF), there'd be another commenter chastising me about that opposite pronunciation - it's a no win situation 😂
@@BJGpixel Pronouncing the image like the peanut butter makes no sense because GIFT has a hard G. The creator of the image format was better with tech than phonics; it's like hearing George Lucas say Laser Sword.
This smaller tiling could be useful if Mega Man were ported to Arduboy, which is 64x128 (aside from the fact that it would have to be monochrome as well).
Why am I thinking about word like 'Tamegamangotchi', a MegaMan theme tamagotchi which play as Dr.Right, nurturing megaman, random mission pops sometime and you must send your megaman to do, get an upgrade chip or item from mission, evolve by what chip player install to, do head to head Bluetooth match with other Dr.right from multiverse.

Yeah once you pair it with the smartphone app it'll automatically scroll through the community gallery, and you can save/favourite whatever pieces you like from there - so there no need to load anything into it ✨
How do you get art from your pc onto the divoom 64? They don't have sd card slots anymore so I'm unsure how. And nobody wants to redo an entire animation on their little phone touch screen haha

Thanks so much dude! 😁 Hahaha I like that interpretation of the looping; like it's a few practice rounds 😆

You're a master. Holy smokes.
More like Micro Man then!
There's another game called Microman made waaaaaaay back for Windows 3.1. Only managed to beat it once, though.

nice! please make another one using the vintage megaman design. :)

How did you make this grid to have an easier time making the tiles? Also can you make a video about animating in photoshop?
You can enable the grid under the 'View' setting in Photoshop - the dimension (8x8) are configured in the preferences :D
