The thing that makes me really annoyed about everyone reacting to the trailer that are saying things like you guys like how you feel bad for such and such actor, as if they are desperate for work and are debasing themselves, or like how you said "oh of Course Rebel Wilson," liiiike.....it's a beloved, award winning musical that was the Longest Running Musical on both Broadway And West End forEVER, like until really recently....why WOULDN'T people with ballet and dance, musical theater, and music backgrounds want to be in this??? -__-
keandric 2 we get that it’s a award winning play. What people don’t understand with our reaction is that we don’t like the presentation as a whole. The faces of actors being imposed on these dancer/model bodies look horrible in my opinion. Hell they could’ve been in full makeup and costume and it would have been way better than what the trailer showed. Yet again this is just our own honest reaction/opinion.
Musical, not a play. Plays don't have singing. And their faces Haven't been imposed onto Anything. *That's Them.* The CGI was just to make their face look more cat-like. But that's Them performing, wearing the same type of skin-tight suit that is normally worn for the musical. And you guys are entirely allowed to have your opinions of course about not liking it or thinking that makeup would've been better than the CGI, and you wouldn't be alone by a Longshot. I just wanted to correct that :)
keandric 2 because the CGI looks like shit. They did everything to make them looks like cats except their faces, it looks odd and takes me out of the performance. So when I say I feel bad for them, it’s because shit CGI doesn’t match their performance level. I was a Theater major in college, I love stage performances, but when they transfer that over to the big screen and it looks like shit, I’m gonna call it out.
@@keandric2765 It's just such a weird take on it, like they should have either had them actually look like cats (e.g. Lion King, though they ran into trouble there with a lack of facial expressions), or have the actors dressed up as cats like in the stage play and not worry about CGI. Having humans with fur and tails and cat ears is just weird af. Some of the cats are fully dressed, others are naked. The female cats have breasts but there is no other genitalia. They all have human faces and human teeth. Some of them move in a graceful catlike way, others just look like cartoons. In the stage show, they used a lot of face makeup to try and disguise their human faces, which worked better IMO - also because with stage productions, you're always being asked to suspend disbelief to a certain extent. Films don't allow that quite so much, so this was always going to be a challenge to adapt for screen, but this is definitely a fail. Also Cats has no storyline, because it's just a bunch of songs based off a bunch of poems about cats, which also makes it a strange choice for a film adaptation. I get why people would have signed up for this, given the show's success and Tom Hooper's track record (although I wasn't a fan of the Les Mis movie because some of those songs REALLY suffered from the in-camera singing treatment, I've never heard Do You Hear the People Sing? fall as flat as it did in that film) but they probably didn't know it was going to end up looking like this.

I like the actual musical. I'm not going to watch this movie. It was hard enough sitting through the trailer.
