- Not a bad job to do because it's kinda easy. Hopefully I installed it right and there will be no leaks. The torque for the oil pump seemed low at 5 ft lbs, so I rechecked and found many websites to say 6.4 n m or 4.7 ft lbs, and on other sites say 7 to 10 ft lbs. I went with 8.5 since the bolts are very small.

Torque spec = Tight but not too tight 😂
That looked like it turned out well, you sure you can get that engine back together, of course you can, your master at this.👍
Thanks Stan.😉
it would be best if you put a little bit of bleu Loctite on your pump cover or installed them cross tread because I am sure that you know that cross thread is nature Loctite😄and I believe the torque specs for those cover bolts are a quarter turn before they stripped😁
I did put blue lock tight on everything that bolts up, and cross threaded for extra insurance. Thanks Bud.😁
I did this last year. Engine in the car. The screws on the back that hold the steel plate on come loose after a while and then the front crank seal blows out. I put blue loc-tite on the screws and torqued them plus one umph.
Reseal the air/oil separator on the back of the engine while it's out. If it's plastic, replace with a steel one (it was a TSB).
edit: the torque on those plate screws is 5.4 N·m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.0 ft-lb) according to my 2010 Forester manual.
Thank you, I will remove and reseal those areas. I was thinking I should do that but now I will.
8.5 ??? I have jam jar lids on tighter than that 😂
I think I can tighten with my finger tips that tight.😅
