Since I live in Arizona, it was an afternoon game for me. I had a long drive home from work on Interstate 17. I Was able to listen to Howie on the radio for innings 6-9. Howie is incredible. He is Mr. Excitement. When Lindor hit the grand slam, I'm sure the driver in the lane next to me thought I was having some sort of episode and needed medical attention. And on the TV broadcast side - yes, shout out to Gary Cohen. He is the best in the business.
Congrats Ashley, Samantha, and Dan on your Amazin' Mets... just WOW! No quit in this team. Headed to the NLCS! My Dodgers showed grit in San Diego to even up the series. Back to L.A. now... and hope to see you in the CS.
Great game, Great Series, Mets is playing really good Baseball, Ranger Suarez curveball was tough yesterday and we beat the bullpen. Comimg from behind as usual.
Ashley while speaking about Diaz (spot on) makes me realize he has become J Familia! It's a heart racing experience every time and doesn't always end well. Great pod ! Thanks
I really believe that with Grimace phenomenon and clutch home runs that the Mets are a team of destiny. I saw 86 WS and this a similar feeling (even though 86 they were supposed to win, this is more of an underdog story.).
Peterson has been unbelievable for us this year. He definitely pitched well enough to be a starter in the postseason but we need a dominant lefty in the pin and he has been that
I can't believe it! To me, I keep going back to '22 even though it was a different manager and less than half the players are still here. They won 101 games, but managed to break our hearts in the end. They lost a wild card series in 3 games they shouldn't have even been playing, and got 1 hit in the deciding game. This year they came from the back of the pack to get a toe hold on the playoffs using the wild card format, and they are kicking butt. Great collection of players. So much fun. REDEMPTION!
I could rewatch that last pitch 101 times! 101 mph gas on the outer edge. Schwarber had no chance. No one on the planet could hit that. Amazin'! Let's go Mets!
According to the person who writes about Edwin Diaz, things are not easy for them, the pitchers, the ball is round and the whole world wants to do things right, but we are human and we make mistakes.
@@WhyMetsPod one other thing I was cursing Diaz too. My wife was like calm down lol. And leaving all those runners on early. But Diaz did it and Lindor and the Mets did it. But they gotta clean that stuff up against whoever in the next round!!! Which i think they will. THIS TRAIN IS STEAMROLLING STRAIGHT AHEAD!!!!
Locked on Phillies posted a video when the Mets clinched the nlds. The title was “The Phillies just caught a big break”. So, hey Philadelphia how you like us now! You were right after all you caught a break, a long fall/winter break. Enjoy the golf boys see you next year!
So 2 things. First, congratulations to the Phillies on winning the division...lmfaooooo. Second, keep these posts up!! You're our good luck charm clearly.
Congrats to the Mets. They got the big hits when they needed them in the series (Lindor, Vientos, etc.). And they had the better starting staff and especially bullpen. Outside of Castellanos, they shut down the Phillies big bats of Harper, Schwarber, Turner, Realmuto, Bohm, etc. Heard a stat that since the London series back in early June, the Mets have been ten games better in the standings than the Phils. That is a pretty substantial length of time. And it showed in this series. And it looks like the Padres-Dodgers series is going to go to a Game 5. Something that I am sure the Mets players and fans are happy about insofar as adding more wear and tear to LA & SD's pitching.
Was at the game today once Lindor hit the Home Run no one in the ballpark sat down. It was a party atmosphere. Edwin Diaz is slowly morphing into Armando Benítez in my mind. I don’t completely trust him anymore.

Edwin gave me gas in the 9th......he's got to harness his powers
Diaz need a mental adjustment. Can't step to the mound and attempt to close out the game like stinkin' Armando Benitez. Glad he recovered.
Keep the intern on the pod all the time - he’s great
I thought the exact same thing as Dan when I saw Schwarber's stats vs. Diaz, "Oh no, he's due!" So glad to be wrong!!
Everyone's a Happy Mets Fan ...✨💙🧡✨
Props to many players on the Mets, Vientos, Marte, Alonso, Quintana, Manaea, Lindor, Peterson, Nimmo

Adam Amin, praising the 35 year old Marte when Taylor makes that throw in game 3.
He was impressed that Marte even got near the ball. ;-)

Edwin Diaz come from a knee freak Injury. Took him out a whole year, not a lot of players returning from a injury and perform.
Good win. Job not done.
