Can you please tell us the ratio for low sugar? I have the low sugar pectin, but don’t know if it’s also 8 Tbsp?
Can you use sure jell??? I can’t find what you have anywhere. I didn’t know if it’s the same thing or not
So I usually pour all of my jelly into a pitcher so I can pour all of my jars at the same time. It’s sooooo much easier than ladeling and a lot less messier. You’re such a doll! Thank you for sharing! Lovely video!
I absolutely love that idea. Thanks
Ohhh that's an amazing idea.thank you.
Gamer changer! Great idea.
Thank you for the pitcher idea! I assume you use a metal pitcher? Because the just-boiled jelly seems too hot to pour into a plastic pitcher.
God bless you and your children and Mandy and others assisting at this time.
So heartbroken for you and your family😢 Helping by sharing your wonderful videos. 🙏🙏🙏 Heal up well.
Praying your family UP, Heather!
Amen
Thank you so much for this.I have all ways done this with the fruit. All ways the hard way.I have been doing some canning.Canned all my life.Been real sick with Cancer,so have not been able. But i am going to make jelly tomorrow. O,and i beat Cancer for the 2nd time.
*YOU have the right attitude!* Wish you continued success in all that you do.
Congratulations!!!
God bless you dear! I pray that you stay cancer free!
I’m a survivor too, god bless and keep well I hope you regain your strength very soon xx
Bless you ❤❤
Hearing your preschooler singing in the background made me so happy, and miss my preschooler grandson :)
Oh my gosh. What adorable littles. Thinking of your sweet family.
I'm going to try this. And sorry I'm not going to spread the word. I want people to think I went through a long difficult process.Lol
You make it look so easy Heather! I will be making this why buy store bought jelly anymore... Now you just rest heal and get better... we will wait for your new ideas.
I've made 3 different Juicy Juice jellies since I watched your video. I'm going to try (100% juice and no added sugar, of course) V8 strawberry/Banana and then V8 Pomegranate/Blueberry. Since I live alone I make 6 to 8 jars, keep one and give the rest away. Having a blast.
How did this turn out?
I know it's been over 4 yrs since you posted this, but I just now found it. I canned veggies and such over 40 yrs ago, but haven't done any since. I just finished my second batch of jelly using your recipe. It was so good and so easy. Thank you for renewing my love of homemade jelly!
this melted my heart. happy canning, Rita!🥰
Watching for your family. You are in our prayers.
I just found your video 1week ago and I've already made 1 batch of apple and 1 batch of cherry jelly using your recipe. I usually make jams using fresh and frozen fruit but this method is the absolute easiest and quickest method to delicious homemade jellies! Anyone can do this. Thank you so much. Also made 2 batches of the Welch's grape jelly from your grape jelly video.👍🏾
This made my morning! Woohoo!!!!! 😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️ Makes my heart so happy. You are the reason why I make videos!!!!! This!!!! This right here! Passing it forward, so we all can do this and be successful and hopefully you will teach someone else how tondo this! And it just keeps going and going!!!!😁♥️🙏🏻 Thank you Lord!
You are absolutely on point with an amazing purpose and I really appreciate your videos. I try to pass this skill on to whomever will try it.
I do all sorts of canning and years ago I started making plum jam the strawberry preserves from fresh or frozen fruit. Now I find it's easier to make the jams and jellies in winter so I freeze my plums and now I buy frozen strawberries from Walmart to cut my prep time. I can never go back to store bought because it does not taste the same as homemade. Keep up the great work!🎉❤
I used this recipe twice to make apple jelly!!! Everyone who has tried it has raved about it. I just made pineapple juice (I used frozen and made it) and used this recipe to make pineapple jelly!!! I’m waiting on my cans to seal right now. I am planning to make up some grape jelly, and per my daughters request fruit punch jelly!!! I am enjoying making jelly so much!!! So glad I found this video!!!
Fruit punch jelly sounds really good!!!
This looks totally doable! I always thought of canning as something you had to do with your own homegrown stuff. I don’t know why. Can’t wait to give this a try.
I'm learning a lot of things through watching all her videos.
I'm so happy I found you. I'm a total city girl that loves country way's of living. Wanted to make something fun & easy for Christmas gifts this year. Now I'm a crazy jelly makin makin nut!!! My husband is still alive, after sampling my jellies so far!!! Lol 😄 Thank you so much!! Its so fun and simple!!!! And yes, your little girl is darling!!!! ❤
Do you do any fresh fruit canning? We garden and have tried strawberry jam but something just isn't right. They are not thickening up right.
My husband Rick and I made your jelly for the very first time and it came out excellent! We are new to canning and you were right this recipe was easy. Thank you for taking the time to show us newbies your wonderful recipes! God bless you and your wonderful family.
God Bless and I am so happy this helped you guys. God has me here to pass the baton!!! Take it and run! Happy Canning!🥰
Made 8 jars of perfect apple jelly using unsweetened Apple juice!!
Thanks so much for sharing.
+Napalm Papa woohoo!!!!!! This makes me so happy!!!!!
I apologize if I have any typos.
Here is the recipe:
Canning for Newbies: Easy Peach Apple Jelly made from Bottled Juice
By The Kneady Homesteader
Makes 8 half pints
Ingredients and equipment:
5 cups of juice - Use any flavor of juice as long as it is 100% juice - no sugar added
7 cups of sugar divided
8 Tbsp. Pectin (Ball) & a little extra for good luck (about a tsp.)
1 Tbsp. butter (optional but it will help stop heavy foaming)
Set aside a ramekin filled with vinegar along with a couple of napkins or paper towels
A heavy bottom pot deep enough so that the hot jelly will not boil over or splatter because it will be hot
Long spatula
Whisk
Timer
Directions:
(preset the timer to 1 minute and set it aside)
Place a couple of spoons in the freezer.
Really clean your work area and place a clean towel over your work-space.
Fill your canner following the manufacturer’s directions. Have your utensils and anything that will touch the jelly in the canner filled with water and boil for 10 minutes. Remove the utensils and place them on a clean towel in your work area leaving your jars in the canner simmering until you need them. Have 1 or 2 extra half pint jars in the canner even though the recipe should only make 8 half pints (just in case you need them should you find a damaged rim or somehow contaminate a jar).
If you have hard water pour some white vinegar in the canner to stop calcium forming on the jars and lids. You can use the left-over vinegar from cleaning the rims of the jars. (Ball recommends ¼ cup)
Have the lids and bands in warm water (have 1 or 2 extras just in case you need them).
Organize your work area.
Have a designated area set up to place the processed jars for 12-24 hours away from any drafts. Again, on a clean towel.
Have hot soapy water ready in your sink to soak the used items in for cleaning.
When you are ready to start making the jelly:
Pour the juice into your pot.
In a bowl add ¼ cup of sugar and the pectin. Mix well and add the mixture to the juice. (Use the rubber spatula so you get every bit of the pectin into the pot). Mix until dissolved in your juice over medium high heat stirring constantly.
Bring to a hard boil (until you can’t stir the bubbles away) and add remaining 6 ¾ cups of sugar slowly to the boiling mixture.
Add butter (optional but recommended)
Stir using a whisk until sugar is dissolved then switch back to the rubber spatula.
Bring back to a rolling boil that you can’t stir down.
Set off the 1-minute timer and keep stirring.
Turn off the heat but keep stirring until it stops boiling. (Continue stirring for a minute or so).
You can do the spoon test if you wish and that is to use a cold spoon, dip it in the jelly and see if it is jelling.
Start filling up the jars. Have 2 jars from the canner on the work area so you have a place to put the funnel while cleaning the rim of the filled jar.
Fill the jar leaving a ¼ inch head space.
Clean the rim really well with the vinegar.
Place a lid on top of the jar, place the ring on the jar and turn it to finger tight.
Place the filled jar back in the canner and bring out another one.
Repeat until there is no jelly left.
Bring your canner up to a rolling boil and set your timer for 10 minutes (which is for an altitude of 0-1000 feet - adjust the time for your altitude)
When done turn off the heat and let the canner settle down for five minutes, remove the lid away from you and remove the jars straight up and place them in the designated area to keep them undisturbed for 12-24 hours and away from any drafts.
When this time is up, remove the rings and check the lids to make sure they have sealed. Wash the jars to remove any sticky jelly, label them with the date and put them away.
Tips:
Have a Ball Jar Holder, towel or a pot holder in one hand while using the jar lifter in your other hand to remove the jars from the canner and also to hold the jar while turning the rings as the jar will be very hot.
It is now recommended that you not tilt your jars when removing them from the canner.
PINNED!!!!!! You are amazing!!!!! 😁👏🏻❤️ That was such a detailed recipe! THANK YOU!!!!!!! 😆👏🏻❤️💋💋💋💋💋
Thank you. When I make jelly, I use this sheet hooked up to my cupboard in the kitchen so I can read and make it step by step. I have been known when I make your canning recipes to have my laptop beside me with you on the screen. {almost as good as you beside me in my kitchen.) Judi
You changed my life with this one. My family goes through so much organic jelly and the jars are tiny and cost a fortune.
It looks like the low-no sugar was used in this recipe. I was given a few jars of the classic pectin what happens if I wanted to use less sugar with the classic stuff?
Is that peach apple juice you used?
I have a bone to pick with you... Just kidding! I spent all day Saturday canning 7 types of jelly! Two batches of each. Thank you so very much!!!💖
Wow! I WISH I would’ve this 40 years ago. In 1980 I helped my grandma make peach jam from farm fresh peaches. It sounds lovely. It’s not! I had peach fuzz everywhere and I mean everywhere. It was gross, disgusting and uncomfortably itchy. After not eating peach jam for almost 40 years I finally broke down in 2019 and bought a jar. 😂🤣😆🙄 This I may actually try. TYVM. I’m praying for you and your family. 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Hi! Thank you for sharing your recipe. 🤗. I’m a newbie to canning and this will be my first recipe. I’m really excited! 😁. Im sorry I’f this is a silly question but does it matter what size jars we use?
Praying you and your family UP, Heather! Thank you for what you do! :)
I was pressure canning some meat while watching this video. When your timer went off I looked at mine. Then I had a good laugh.
Sounds exactly like something iwd..lol
My iPad heard “set a timer for five minutes” during another video. It set the time, unbeknownst to me! I couldn’t figure out why my timer went off shortly after the timer on the video!
God bless The Kneady Homesteader
Us newbie's definitely appreciate it! 🤗 Love this step by step instructions. I'm such a visual learner.
Thank you. You're the best
Still praying for you and the children 🙏 ❤
Blessings, julie
Heather, I made very low sugar jam with the low sugar pectin & only 1/2 cup of sugar with 10 cups of juice. I have used different juices. One flavor was pomagranite (sp) plum juice & it tasted very good. I gave jelly to coworkers for Christmas gifts & this was one of the favorites. You are correct that this is SO easy. Vuda
+Vida Reich wow, that sounds amazing! these make the best gifts!!!!
Vida how much pectin did u use? I have people in my family with diabetes so very low sugar jam is what I want to make. Also new to canning. Thank you Kneady Homesteader for this video♥️
I’m also interested in this .
I'm trying to make jelly and jam for myself im diabetic what does the pectin do? And how much do I need for yours?
Did you use the same amount of pectin ?
Thanks for sharing.
I very rarely comment on videos but I gotta say, you have such a beautiful personality and are so positive and encouraging that I am really glad I saw this video as I am toying with the idea of canning my own homemade jams and jellies for the first time. Based on what I saw here, I am going to give it a try. I really gotta give you credit, you got you hands full with little ones and even a newborn and still have time to make these preserves and film as well! Bravo! By the way, your son and the baby are beautiful! Thanks again for an encouraging and informative demonstration.
LOVE THAT YOU TAKE THE TIME TO SHOW AND EXPLAIN AS YOU GO AND WE BEGINNERS GET TO SEE HOW IT IS DONE RIGHT THANK YOU SO MUCH HEATHER

Watching your cooking and canning videos is so soothing and relaxing for me. My husband came in and asked what I was watching and I went into this whole spiel about you and your family and how much fun it is to watch you in your kitchen.
+Meghan Krause awwww that just made my night!!!! :D Tell hubby I said HI! :D *waves*
They are relaxing! Lol I relax watching homemaking. Heather does great videos.
Thank you for sharing not just your ideas, but the kids reactions. Thank for the new ideas. I grew up with my grandparents garden and in their summer kitchen. I knew canning was not hard, but had never been hands on with the actual canning part until I was married with kids. My husband and I grow our own hot peppers and make pepper jelly, and salsa. When I have a good year with cucumbers we make pickles. Thank you for opening my eyes to greater possibilities for all my empty jars. Thank you! Yes, I have the book you recommended downloaded, a canning pressure cooker on a wish list, and most all other supplies on hand. Thank you, oh and you can thank Kip with his BA rice cooking videos for name dropping.

New subscriber to your channel, and to canning. Your vlogs are so clear and informative. Thanks for showing how easy it to can jelly from juice. Also sending prayers for comfort and healing for you and your family. This sad time is painful, for sure, but you and your family will continue on your life’s’ journey with a loving angel watching over y’all unceasingly. ❤️❤️💕🙏💕❤️❤️
I appreciated hearing you say that you can to destress and help with anxiety. I feel the same way. I have said this to others and they just kind of look at me funny. Sometimes when I have a lost of stress going on, I just look for something to can and it's a distraction and relaxing. I'm glad I am not the only one... :)
Although, I have to laugh sometimes watching your videos. I Just heard your washer/dryer "sing" in the background and thought to myself, "I don't have a load of laundry going, do I?" Bahahaha...I have a set of Samsung as well! bahahahaha
+Mrs. VeNard HAHAHAHAHAHHAA! I know, no pro vlogger here. It is literally like having you sit in my kitchen with me. HAHAHAHA I do love it when it sings to me. Yeah, I feel the same way. There is something about doing something positive, like canning, that makes me feel so much better! Baking is the same way too for me. Hand kneading dough, is therapeutic.
I can’t wait to try this. Thank you for teaching us.
Thank you so much for your video. I want to start canning but am nervous and don’t know where to start. This video was excellent. You are a great and so patient teacher. The best part is the kiddos! So sweet!
