The duke definitely fooled himself into thinking he would be “just friends” with Miss Bridgerton. You can’t play the game of love honey 🤣

As much as I love Simon, the moment the prince understood Daphne loved the Duke and respected her choice instead of being upset or trying to force it I was like "sis, he was the right one" 😭
Honestly I’m at the middle of s1 where they got married and I think the same.Not just bc of that but also I think that what she has with Simon is very temporary.There’s passion,desire,excitement.But it all goes away by time. At one point he’s going to break her heart and since they can’t have children there won’t be any reason for Daphne to hold on.But with prince she sure would have more safe marriage.And the love,it always ends.

I appreciate that they made Prince Fredrick so nice. I feel like that makes Daphne’s love for Simon stronger and her choice more impactful. Daphne has another option, and on paper he’s the better choice. Wants kids, will be a good provider, kind and thoughtful, etc. but in the end, love is love.

This couple played their characters so well in the Bridgerton series. Definitely worth waiting for S2.
If you'd watched the series you'd know that he reluctantly kicked her to the kerb, for her own good, as he didn't believe he was worthy.
Lady Danbury told Simon to either propose to daphne and let her go because the queen had put daphne on the prince radar Simon knew that vow to made to his father would keep him from marrying daphne so broken heart he took lady Danbury advice and told daphne their ruse was over you now have the eyes of the prince his business was over in London and he would be leaving and he told her to move on too she went home crying and Simon came home and told Jeffery to make haste he wanted to leave London now
They were already in love with one another but hadn't realized it.

However, the Duke was passionate and that kind of passion doesn't come easy. He was always fond of her, irrespective of the circumstances.
Hence, in my opinion the Duke was the right choice. ;)
